Product Description

Designed to accommodate full roasts and whole fowl, this large 9-quart round French oven comes in handy when cooking for a crowd or preparing recipes that call for oversized ingredients. The heavy cast-iron cookware provides a colorful, long-lasting exterior enamel that resists chipping and cracking, plus a durable, nonreactive sand-colored interior enamel that offers a smooth surface for cooking and an optimal palette for food presentation. As cast iron is unexcelled for even heat distribution and superior heat retention, and enamel is impervious to acids and odors, the oven browns and cooks food uniformly and gently without hot spots and can be used for marinating, cooking on the stovetop, or finishing in the oven. Two loop cast-iron side handles help ensure a steady grip during transport--even when wearing bulky oven mitts, and the unit's secure-fitting lid locks in heat and moisture while cooking. The lid also comes fitted with a black phenolic knob that's oven-safe up to 350 degrees F. Beautiful enough for the table yet durable enough to outlive its lifetime limited warranty, the French oven can be safely used on any stovetop, including induction, and should be hand washed for best results.

5Le Crueset again
By CMKastner
Started cooking in restaurants when I was 16, cooked my whole life for a job or for fun. From 5 star to Denny's, I've done it and I like to think I've had a wide exposure to what works in a kitchen. Pretty much infatuated with everything Le Creuset makes. I've done chicken bouillabaisse, jambalaya, green chili, mac and cheese, roasted whole chickens, vegetable, and potatoes in these and they are all they are cracked up to be. Cannot recommend strongly enough for stove top or oven. Make sure you get the metal knobs, that way you can go up to 500 degrees. The plastic ones included only go to 350 or 400, I think. The thought of melted plastic on my Le Creuset for not spending $10-12 is unconscionable.

5Best That You Can Get
By Steve Nelson
Pricey? Yes. Worth it? More than worth it. The crowning piece of cookware and just made for fall and winter cooking. Braises, stews-even heating and cooking. I saved up and couldn't be happier.
