5Solid memory expansion.
By digitalrelix
These 72-pin SIMMS pop easily into most motherboards. From older Apple PowerMac PPC to 486 and 586 and Pentium class computers. By extension this means AMD k6-II platforms (super socket 7). The EDO is a nice added feature for system boards that support it. Does not hinder its use in older systems however.Main benefits: Faster computer speed and performance w this 32MB EDO SIMM memory module. One of the benefits to my computer was faster multitasking, Web browsing and gaming. My hard drive thrashed less (since less virtual memory was needed) and apps opened up much faster.

5Video extender/splitter - works great
By Dean Suhr
Just as described - works great. Quality of manufacture and the signals are both great. I use this to keep my laptop out of the way on the side of the room while the projector is in the center of the room. The boxes are connected by a CAT5 Ethernet cable that you supply up to 150M long. Requires AC power for both sending and receiving units. Also provides two VGA outputs at both the sending and receiving box. Great for a local monitor. No drivers, adjustments, or configuration - just plug it in! Works great!

5Works great for application needed
By Jeremy M. Crawford
These were easy to install and were not of any issue like some of the other reviewers. They worked the first time around connecting a 42" screen in a lobby to a computer in a server room through about 100' of difference. Resolution holds up well on the higher end for the monitor's abilities. Would purchase again.

5Great VGA extender
By Robert Owen
I needed to run a second VGA monitor for a security system about 75ft from the main monitor. This extender uses standard CAT5 unshielded twisted pair network cabling (has to be a direct run between the two boxes rather than connected to your LAN). I can't tell the difference between the local and remote pictures so I'm very pleased. The only odd thing is a manual addendum that warns the user to ensure both units are grounded to avoid static buildup. I had no easy way to ground the boxes so I haven't done so (I'm hoping they are grounded via the VGA cables). I haven't seen any issues so far (been active for 2 weeks now). I'm very pleased with my purchase. I think StarTech make great, very useful, products.

4High quality, versatile, good value performer
By digerati
I selected the DVC503 because I wanted a multi-disk DVD player with excellent image and sound quality, Dolby and DTS support (but no decoder built in), but also as a replacement for my 3-disc CD player. So CD and CD-R support was critical. CD-video support is an added bonus, but I can't see myself using it much.

The DVD image quality is superb -- it is definitely worth using the component video outputs if you have a TV that supports them. I have seen other DVD players run into problems with scratched DVDs and/or highly compressed scenes giving poor picture quality. No such problems with the Pioneer. The player loads DVDs quickly and starts playing them quickly, and I have yet to come across a DVD that doesn't work -- even with a wide variety of DVD's of varying quality from netflix.com.

Regular analog stereo sound is great, and the unit performs very well with regular CDs -- sounding just as good as my old NAD CD player. Digital audio outputs go to your external Dolby and DTS decoder via coax or optical interconnect.

I took off one star for the fact that the unit often does not recognize audio CDs. You have to open the sliding tray, re-seat the CD and try again. Reading the Amazon reviews, this seems to be a problem for lots of DVD players, but it is still irksome. On the other hand, the Pioneer does have a CD-only mode which makes the unit behave more like a regular CD player for those times when you just want to listen, and this goes a long way to compensating for the CD recognition problems.

The Pioneer remote is logically laid out and easy to use. The on-screen menus are simple to understand, and once you have the unit set up it's unlikely you'll need to use them again. The Pioneer remebers where you were on a DVD if you push the Stop button, so that you can pick up exactly where you left off. Some other DVD players don't seem to have this option.

The price of the unit seems very competitive to me, especially when I compare it to single DVD units that often don't have component video output. I have no need for a built-in Dolby digital or DTS decoder, as any recent surround-sound receiver contains those functions already. There's no point paying for extras you already own.

I am glad I bought my Pioneer DVC503, consider it good value and would recommend it to anyone.

5Pioneer DV-C503
By Hoss
I did a lot of research before buying this player. And it paid off. If you want a good 5 disc player that plays CDR's or VCD's flawlessly? Look no further. I primarily bought this to replace my CD Player which was dying and this full 24bit DAC sounds amazing. The bass defintion compaered to my old Technics is like comparing apples to oranges.

THe Video is just as good for a player in this price range. Good features, fast loading, great sound and a good picture. A bit thin on scanning features but so what. The only con I have found, is the drive is a bit loud when playing DVD's. So if your placing it very close to your viewing seat it could be annoying. Remote is fair, could be better. But it's more than usable.

I'd buy it again!

3A fair value for a combo (CD/DVD) changer
By A Customer
I wish I could have found more info on the various changers available prior to buying this unit. I was down to comparing two specific units: the Pioneer 503 and the Sony 660. If I had better information on how the Sony handled CDs and CDRs, I'd probably have bought it, as I think the DVD replay is superior in that unit versus the Pioneer. Since Sony doesn't claim the 660 will play CDR's but Pioneer does claim it for this unit, and since I only have space for a single changer for both CDs and DVD I went with Pioneer.

What I Like: The 503 plays DVDs fine, CDs fine and CDRs fine (individually).

What I don't like: The 503 only has one speed scan forward or reverse on DVDs, and it does this in a "step" fashion showing a short frozen snip of a next scene 30 seconds or so further ahead or behind on the track. Versus multiple speeds (fast and faster forward/reverse) and a smooth continuous picture. A bit hard to find an exact scene your looking for and to stop at the point you want. Next dislike: The 503 doesn't recognise some CDs or CDRs right off the bat. Here is the test I used: I loaded the unit with one DVD, 3 CDs and one CDR, then played back using random all discs. The unit doesn't try to play the DVD (good), but only goes between two of the CDs randomly selecting tracks, skipping the 3rd CD and the CDR all together (bad). I could force the unit to "see" the other discs by manually skipping on the remote (it then would stop on all CDs and CDRs) -- go figure...

All-in-all this is an ok combo unit for the price, however I wish someone would do a thorough review of the Sony DVP660 and reveal if it can play CDRs. Maybe I'll buy one and keep the one that can "do it all"!

5Mugs!! Mugs!! Mugs!!
By A Customer
I recently ordered two of the Naturewood service for 4 sets -- that included Mugs, Mugs, Mugs!! The same Pfaltzgraff Naturewood service for 4 includes a tea cup and saucer in most other places -- and I was thrilled to see the MUGS offered here. I can not wait to receive my new stoneware - and use it in together with my new 14-inch platter.

5TEEN PROOF DISHES
By Gail Cooke
These dishes are not only attractive but strong! Unintentionally teenagers can really chip, nick and batter plates, but these have withstood use after use and clatter after clatter.

If it's a sturdy, microwave safe set you're after - try these.

5Prepare for the Future
By Petko
Featuring the newest Analog Devices SHARC 32-bit DSP processor, the AVR-3300 provides Dolby Digital and DTS decoding with superb precision. The AVR-3300 is the most affordable A/V component to include the SHARC processor as the heart of the DDSC-D technology, and features premium 24-bit, 96 kHz DACs on all output channels. Prepared for the future, the AVR-3300 features 8 Channel external input, for connection to future multi-channel surround formats, along with 8 pre-amp outputs, providing a full upgrade path. A high quality, discrete power output section provides a total system power of 850 watts (1 kHz, 6 ohms).

In addition to providing five pairs of composite and "S" video inputs, the AVR-3300 is equipped with two sets of component video (Y, CB, CR) inputs (DVD and TV/DBS), and one set of component video outputs for connection to high resolution video displays. Dual Surround Speaker switching allows the use of two different types (and placements) of surround speakers - connect a pair of diffuse surround speakers for movie soundtracks, and a direct radiator type surround speaker for multi-channel music surround.

5DISAPPOINTED
By jeff campe
THE BOARD IS GREAT,OTHER THAN THE SEGMENTS GET PUNCHED OUT,AND TO GET replacements ,YOU HAVE TO GO TO THE MANUFACTURE, GREAT LAKE DARTS,THEY WON'T JUST SELL TO ANYBODY YOU HAVE TO BE A DEALER OR SOMETHING TO THAT NATURE,I'VE BEEN AROUND AND AROUND LOOKING FOR A RETAILER THAT SELLS REPLACEMENT SEGMENTS, TO NO Avail, finally i made a ficticious buisness name and was able to place an order, the person on the line was really unhelpful, the segments are sold in pies, 20 pies to a board $7.00 a pie an order is $100.00 minimum .so i went ahead and ordered a $100.00 worth, when it arrived it came with a catalog i could have bought 4 complete cheap dartboards for $25.00 each that all use the same segments.i have two of these boards and have rebuilt them twice over, i like the boards, but they don't last but a month in my household ,we play quite a bit, we don't use excessivly heavy darts, less than what the darts are that came with it ,but you expect a dartboard with this kind of pricetag it would last... like an archnid

3Things to look for...
By J. Rowan-Stern
First, let me start off by saying that I have never really played darts before purchasing this board. I researched the web for reviews and comments on several boards and found that this board had mostly positive reviews. SO, I placed my order through amazon and recieved it in very short order...maybe 4 days at the most! When the board arrived I read through the directions and as far as installation, it was pretty straight forward. Though I will say, the type face in the instruction booklet could be bigger for some of us older folks. Even with my glasses, some of the distance measurements were hard to read in the diagram though were clarified within the text itself. You get 12 darts. They are not assembled and you must do so before play. There are no directions for this. The tail feathers slide over the back of each dart and for the life of me I couldn't see how they are supposed to stay on. ANd, while playing, they fell off about 30% of the throws. I corrected this by placing the feathers back on and placing a drop of model airplane CA (Super glue) at each tail feather joint and they haven't allen off since. The logic of the menu on the board is a little shakey but if you have the instructions at the ready during the first few games, they will start to make sense. The menus are presented both visusally and by audio. You then hit the "enter" button for the option to open it and chose the selected sub-menu. Again, it may take a few trys to get the hang of this, but it gets a lot easier the more you use it. My only quip here would be the re-start of a game of a finished game. When you finsih a game, you should be able to restart it with the same options but instead, at this point I have not been able to figure out how. It should be fairly simple but so far, I have not been able to see anything in the instructions or make sense of how to do it using the menu.Quality: For the money, I would have liked a little more quality. The numbers around the outside of the board are plastic and painted gold and show signs of wear even out of the box! The unique way that this board opens and closes looks good and has good quality hinges that should last, but takes up alot of room when you hang it. Make sure that you have enough wall space when planning your purchase. The menu buttons look like they are supposed to be illuminated from behind but I can't be sure though mine do not so it would have been nice to no in the description whether or not this is the case. The displays are easy to read but not bright enough to be used outside in sunlight. I was a little disapointed when the I noticed the right door, which is supposed to hold all the darts, only had half of the holes drilled to hold the dart tips so now we store the darts in a box seperate from the board. Not a huge problem, but the door storage area was one of the reasons I bought this particular model. My wife and I have played about 30 games so far and overall, like the board. I think if I were to do this again, I might think about wall space more but other than that, we're keeping it.

4Does a good job, requires some maintenance
By Kurt A. Greiner
I have had one of these heaters for four years now, and use it in my 1000 square foot workshop (concrete floor and high ceilings make this space a challenge to heat). It does put out a considerable amount of heat, though it tends to be localized as there is no fan. Nearby the unit it gets quite toasty, and will raise the temperature of my shop 15 to 20 degrees after about an hour and a half. The secret to good performance is to use nice clean kerosene, and be sure it is not contaminated with water. It performs best on clear kerosene, but this is the most expensive fuel. I have had decent luck using red dyed kerosene (road tax exempt). I by it at a local bulk petroleum jobber and as of yesterday (April 5, 2010) I paid about 16.50, with tax, for 5 gallons in California. It burns clean, but I find I need to clean the wick a couple of times each season. I get a bit longer than 12 hours per tank, which is great. Make sure you change the batteries at the start of winter, and any time the glow of the starter seems to dim. I go through one or two sets of C batteries each season.Cleaning the wick takes about 10 minutes - there are two screws and a knob to remove, and then the top slides off reveling the base. I use a small putty scraper to flick off the carbonized portion of the wick. If you find the unit sputtering or hard to light that is an indicator that this service is needed.I have replaced the wick once over the past four years. Do this outside, and wear rubber gloves as the kerosene has a strong odor. It is not too hard, but you do need to take care that it is aligned correctly so that it cranks all the way up for lighting, and more importantly all the way down to ensure it extinguishes the flame. It did take me two tries to get this right, and I am reasonably handy, though a more careful reading of the instructions would have helped.Overall I am very happy with the product and am considering purchasing a second one for my shop to reduce the ramp up time. The maintenance required keeps it from being a 5 star review, but the trade off is lower operating costs when compared to electricity or especially propane.

5Excellent Heater
By Matthew Campbell
Easy to operate and puts out a lot of heat. Wife and I both enjoy using it. The safety grill makes it safe for our preschool aged children. We initially purchased this for back-up heat. However, our home has 11-foot ceilings and just one 1500 watt wall heater per room. So, we're using this heater regularly to get things initially warmed up in the morning. We run it on cold mornings for about an hour or two and it warms the whole downstairs.Lighting this heater inside is fine, but some people may want to shut it off outside as there is a bit of smell on shutdown. If the batteries are low on the starter, you can also light it with a match.Kerosene fuel is a bit expensive, but the heat value is quite high per gallon. You can cut the cost by buying in larger quantities -- 55 gallon drum drops the cost to about $5 a gallon...which puts heater operation cost at just under $1 an hour for fuel. 1.9 gallon tank burns 10-12 hours Otherwise, buying in 5 gallon containers from the hardware store puts the price at $9/gallon...but that's still enough to get through an electrical outage.Stove oil (red dyed kerosene) is also fine (says this in the instructions that come with the heater), but will gum up the wick a little faster. However, stove oil is under $3.50 a gallon right now...so the price is right.**Update:Heater working great. I replaced the factory installed wick about a month ago, and the new wick is working even better. The first wick became clogged over time with the red dye from the 55 gallon drum of kerosene. However, it was cheaper overall even with the wick change to go for the drum. I add a couple teaspoons of denatured alcohol to each fill, and another teaspoon during the dry-burn -- this helps a lot to keep the wick in good condition and to burn off any water that collects in the heater's sump. Denatured alcohol can be purchased locally in the painting section of your local hardware store.I recently had the drum refilled with #1 stove oil from the local heating oil supplier -- at $3.89/gallon. Stove oil #1 is the same as red dyed kerosene and works great (do not use #2 stove oil). The supplier has a minimum of 100 gal order, but I chatted with the manager and arranged for a fill that matched up with another delivery at no extra charge. Earlier in the season, I purchased a 5-gallon can of K-1 clear kerosene. I refill that can from the drum, then fill the heater with it. A good hand-pump to pull from the drum: Fill-Rite SD62 Hand Pump Rotary 2-Vane Curved SpoutThe heater will burn 11 hours continuously, and heats the entire house all day. Granted, that's about $7.80 for a day of heating, which is more expensive than electric. However, our family loves the quality of heat it puts out.

5Great Patio Heater
By rayneberry
We live in a 3rd story condo, and are planning a New Years party. We just redesigned our patio built benches, made cushions, and I wanted the patio to be comfortable to sit on while outside. Our patio is open to the east, and also open in the nook to the north. So I needed something that was going to produce enough heat to keep the patio warm. We tried two other heaters (electric) before buying this one. They were horrible!I bought mine at home depot, and they have the fuel there. I think I have a different model (DuraHeat Convection Kerosene Heater Model DH2304), but it is the same amount of BTU's and the the same design, just looks a little different. This heater is amazing...we filled up half the tank, and have used it the last few nights to test it out. It heats up the whole area and keeps the heat coming! I plan on putting a sheet up in the nook using an expandable rod, (don't worry the sheet won't hang near the heater) I just want to try to block some of the cold air from coming in! A lot of heat comes out of the top, so I am hoping it will keep more of the heat in the patio area!If you are looking for a great patio heater, this is the one to buy! Especially if you live in a condo! I am pretty sure we are not allowed to have propane, plus who wants a 20lb propane tank hanging around! This heater is ok'd for indoor, and if we ever loose our heat, we won't be cold! As long as we have kerosene! There are instructions for the care of this heater, and I suggest you read them. There is important information about dry burning and cleaning the wick etc. They stress the importance of these things to keep your heater working properly! I am new to this (Giant Lantern) but the instructions are very detailed and easy to understand! Good luck!
