5Easy to use and accurate.
By F. Smith
I use this meter to check moisture levels in about 15 different species of lumber I keep in my shop. It is compact, easy to use and very accurate. I would only reccommend pinless meters such as this one since these do not damage the surface of the lumber when taking measurements.

5Great Unit, This is the one to have
By Bob Feeser
This Wagner MMC205 is the one to have. No hassle when you have to ask the seller if they mind having pin holes in their wood. (Taking measurements at the end of the wood helps to avoid that, but still a minor consideration) It actually measures moisture content 3/4" of an inch into the wood. So surface moisture, which can vary based on humidity in the air, or a recent rain, etc, does not become a factor. It does so without any tampering with the wood. (No holes) Pin models, only go so deep, unless you really gouge the wood.Another consideration, is that the more expensive Wagner meter measures wood above 20% moisture content. Considering that usable wood starts at 12%, and if you want to make furniture you will need wood around 4 to 6%, the need to know measurements up to 35% is not all that neccessary.Their isn't any calculations neccessary with this meter as well. They do give you a handly little booklet, with all of the wood types listed. That way you can set it for the specific wood type to get a very exacting measurement. It comes in a handy carrying case. Large easy to read numbers. Takes a few uses to get the hang of it. Like holding the setting down, in order for it to go into the changing mode. When buying wood, the amount of time is has aged-cured, or been properly kiln dried is of the essence. If you buy wood that has too much moisture content in it, you will be forced to either age it yourself, or suffer the movement as it cures over time.It is interesting to actually take this meter into some of the larger retail Home stores and measure what appears to be kiln dried, planed wood. Sometimes those pallets are left out in the rain for awhile. Since they are strapped together, a good soaking has the oppotunity to go deep within the grain. The individual boards in that case are not exposed to the air again, until they are unwrapped. In conclusion, moisture measurements are essential in woodworking. This unit is at a good price point, if you want to do the best job, without breaking the bank. If I had to do it all over again, I would still buy this one. Highly recommended.

5Awesome little piece
By A Customer
Compact, concise, accurate! Complements any wood shop, a must have for the serious professional. I've used this to check 2000 bd. ft. of hickory, 300 bd. ft.of cocobolo, 150 bd. ft. of black walnut for flooring, and I've used it for dozens of smaller lots of other hard and soft woods. Helps in dickering with price on supposedly kiln dried lumber.

4Wish I would have had one a year eariler
By R. Saylor
As a woodworker, I've been running blind, trusting my lumber providers to give me accurate moisture content numbers. This ended last month when I installed $2500 worth of IPE flooring. The IPE had been stored in the room that it was to be eventually installed in for two months, rotated frequently to insure even dryness and installed with a vapor barrier over a basement. It shrunk! In some places over 1/8"!I bought the moisture meter from Amazon and tested the installed wood, 9 to 12%. I returned to my lumber dealer and tested his pile, 12 to 14%! He won't give me money back, but at least now I'm armed with accurate information.I've tested red oak also, 6 to 7%.This meter won't go above .70 in specific gravity, so with IPE, for instance, set it to .50 and divide the result by 2 since IPE is incredibly dense at 1.0. It responds quickly and I feel that it will eventually make me a better judge of wood.I've still haven't gotten used to switching it to it's various modes and the single button is a bit touchy.

Capresso 440.05 MT-500 10-Cup Electronic Coffeemaker with Thermal Carafe Product Description:

  • Brews up to 10 5-ounce cups in just 8 minutes for maximum flavor, aroma
  • Stainless-steel vacuum carafe keeps coffee hot up to 4 hours
  • Stainless-steel ThermoBlock heating system reduces calcification
  • Brew-pause for mid-brew pour; digital, programmable clock/timer
  • Measures 9-3/4 by 13-3/4 by 10 inches; 1-year warranty

Product Description

To achieve a spectacular cup of coffee there are essential steps that need to be taken. The water must be free of chlorine taste (hence the charcoal filter), the machine must be able to brew larger or smaller amounts successfully (this one "knows" to disperse hot water more slowly when the coffee ground amount is less). The coffee must be very hot (right around 192 Degrees F, like the brew from the MT500), and kept fresh, as in a double walled stainless steel carafe with a one way valve that keeps flavor and aroma in the coffee. Now it doesn't hurt if the machine itself is gorgeous either, or that it can output 10 cups of coffee in 8 minutes. Oh and one more thing: this is the only coffee maker in its class that has a stainless steel boiler so your coffee doesn't ever come in contact with aluminum. Normally this type of construction, and a 1200 watt heating element are found only on commercial grade appliances.

4purchase with confidence...you won't be disappointed!
By mister bob
after months of dealing with burnt coffee from my trusty krups coffeemaker...i decided that there just HAD to be a better way. i launched an exhaustive search for what would be the best (you know this is always a compromise, anyways) machine for the job. i knew i wanted a thermal carafe...and wasn't as concerned with the price as i was concerned with the quality and durability.

i read many reviews here on amazon...including reviews for this machine. after seeing a bunch of negative reviews (based on how difficult to operate, clean, or lack of really HOT coffee from this machine) i decided to look further, instead of just jumping in.

of course...as i searched the web, i finally realized that i was just going to have to try the machine...worst that could happen was that i could experience all the problems that some others had...and i'd have to return it.

expecting problems (i saw an awful lot of buyer whining about operation difficulty (it isn't a problem) temperature of coffee (although quoted as 170 degrees in the manual it generally stays in the carafe at 160 degrees) and all assortment of complaints about adding water to the reservoir (a no brainer), assembly/cleaning issues (also very simple), pause and serve issues (never had a problem)...

i had NO problems whatsoever with this unit. coffee tasted good from the first cup...and still tastes good (i've had the unit for over two months now)

as a matter of fact...the coffee is still hot and drinkable after 3 hours (although the manual does recommend that you dispose of the coffee after 2 hours)

so all in all? a VERY satisfied customer...i rated it at 4 stars because it IS expensive...and for the anal-retentive types out there...yes the coffee rarely exceeds 165 degrees...

but...if you are sitting on the fence (like i was) jump in! you won't be disappointed!

3Great coffee, subpar design
By michaelb1968
I went with 3 stars because of price and design. It is better than 3, but I can't bring myself to call it 4. 3.5 is very fair. The coffee that this machine brews is far superior to any machine I have owned. It easily rivals coffee house machines. However, the carafe was poorly designed and the price tag is way too steep. I won't return it, but I retain the right gripe a bit.

PROS:

- Coffee taste is INCREDIBLE! Unmatched by any home machine I know of.

- Coffee is brewed hot. That is a fact. Do not let bad reviews about temp scare you. This machine brews hot.

- Coffee remains hot. Again, don't be scared. I don't pre-heat the carafe. The hot water heats it fast and since steel is a conductor, the carafe warms quickly. FWIW, I dumped a couple cups this morning after they sat all night. I kid you not when I say if you take it black, the temperature was still passable.- It extracts max flavor from the grinds, therefore less coffee is required.

- The keypad is easy to use and understand. The cord compartment is very handy.

CONS:- One hundred and sixty bucks is too much money. First off, the whole machine is not stainless steel. There is a lot plastic and fake steel. The brew technology is good, but there is no way on earth this machine is worth more than 2x a Braun 180. The coffee is a bit better, but you really have to be a fanatic to taste it.

- The carafe is TERRIBLY designed in the way it receives the brew. YES, YOU WILL HAVE COFFEE POUR ALL OVER YOUR KITCHEN IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL! The entry hole is too small. You can set the carafe in place and it will still overflow. It needs to be set PERFECTLY. The lips should be bigger by about 1/4" to prevent spillage. In fact, I feel this lid should be recalled. It is that bad. Exercise caution and you will be fine, but always be aware. Sometimes the ball sticks so even if it is lined up perfectly, it will still overflow. Make sure the green ball is moving before putting the lid on the pot. Use the tip of a knife to jar it loose if it is stuck.

- The lack of a removable water resovoir is inexcusable at this level. The machine is a little on the heavy side and doesn't slide easily, plus you hide the cord. A removable water resovoir would have been great.

- The carafe does pour slow. Make sure the dot is over the spout for best performance. Turning it past the spout only slows it further, it doesn't make the opening bigger! If it gets annoying, remove the lid, pour normal, then replace the lid.

This review may sound negative, but it isn't. Again, the coffee quality is unmatched. However, you do need to put up with mind-bogglingly dumb engineering and tiny quirks. But, like that lawnmower that only you know how to start, this is a machine you'll grow to love as you figure out how to control it.

5The best coffeemaker I've ever owned
By A Customer
When I ordered the Capresso MT-500, I had mixed feelings. I'd never before bought a coffeemaker that cost more than [$$], and I was nervous about spending so much. But at the same time, I was weary of the ongoing battle with calcification in my old Mr Coffee 'Accel' coffeemaker (we have very hard water here). Furthermore, the coffee never did taste all that great, and after two or three hours on the warming pad the last cup was guaranteed to taste burnt and bitter.

In shopping for a new coffeemaker, my requirements therefore included both a thermal carafe and reasonable assurance that it would make decent coffee -- and that it would do so for at least a few years. Unfortunately, most of the reviews I read reported that the carafes were flimsy and broke, or failed to keep the coffee hot enough.

The Capresso addressed all of these concerns and more, and everything about this coffeemaker says "quality." There's a replaceable charcoal filter that goes in the reservoir to help remove chlorine and other impurities. All of the metal surfaces that come into contact with water and/or coffee are stainless steel. The electronic controls are straightforward and easy to understand, and the brew-through sealed carafe is virtually idiot-proof... Moreover, the carafe, which has a stainless steel liner (not breakable glass), is very easy to keep clean. The clock doesn't lose its settings during brief (<10secs) power glitches (a continuing annoyance with the aforementioned and now idle Mr Coffee). The Capresso is also very spiffy and attractive and looks great on our kitchen countertop.

And did I mention it makes great coffee? It does.

Although not absolutely essential, in my opinion, you will end up with hotter coffee -- and hot coffee for a longer period of time -- if you remember to pre-heat the carafe with some hot water for a few minutes before brewing. Just be sure to remember to -empty- the carafe before you start the cycle! Still, preheating isn't always practical, such as when you're using the automatic timer, and frankly, in my opinion the coffee's stayed hot enough for up to 3 hours even when I haven't prewarmed the carafe. Today, using a prewarmed carafe, my last cup was acceptably hot nearly 4 1/2 hours after I first made it.

I've been using my Capresso for a couple weeks now, and I have no regrets in shelling out premium dollars for a premium coffeemaker. I'd definitely do so again.

5Maybe the best choice available
By Jim Krupnik
I have had this oven for several months now. I missed an opportunity to by it as a factory refurbished unit, and ended up buying it new here. Initially, I wanted to hold out for a convection oven with a larger capacity, but the reality of unit size and lack of availability of a larger oven with similar features convinced me to by this model.I think I made the right choice. It is large enough to bake and broil a wide variety of things without having to resort to the "big oven", it has accurate, even temp control, and enough features and custom settings that I am still discovering new and better ways to use it.It is a pretty large oven, does everything advertsed in best of class fashion, it's very easy to clean, and looks "right" no matter how your kitchen is outfitted. Even simple tasks like making toast are handled better than any regular toaster or cheap toaster oven that I have tried. When toasting bread or bagles, the first part of the cycle brings the bread up to teperature without bringing the heat elements up to "toasting" tepmerature. Towards the end of the cycle, the elements glow bright red, and toast both surfaces very evenly, and to taste. The result is perfectly toasted bread, bagles, pizza slices, etc, without cold centers. The cycle can easily be tailored for your favorite bread. Perfect. Before I forget, someone posted a "review" here that really was a question about what temp the oven is capable of. The oven can also broil, so that would indicate that it can reach high temps, and in fact, it can. The "bake" setting allows you to select a temerature on the display up to 500 degrees. Most any cooking technique that can be done with a quality conventional oven can be done with this gem. And more. When I first started using the oven, I checked it's indicated temp with my electronic thermometer that I use for calibrating industrial sensors. In every case, the indicated air temp was within a few degrees of reality. My full sized oven wasn't anywhere near that close when it was new.Broiling, baking, defrosting, and reheating leftovers are also given the benefit of digital control over the cooking cycle. Even the crumb tray was designed for effective operation, and ease of cleaning. I have used a number of dedicated convection ovens, and more than a few toaster ovens over the years, but this one is in a class by itself. Even if you grew up with the microwave, this oven won't gather dust on your countertop.Update... July 12, 2005. This oven is used most every day, and has proved to be a solid performer. As time passed, I have used pretty much all of the functions of the oven, and learned to customize settings to please me along the way. I have not had a single problem with the oven since the day it arrived, and being easy to keep clean, it still looks factory new (when I clean it). It is about as large as I care to have on the countertop, and for bigger jobs, I simply use the main kitchen oven. For most anything else, this is the oven that gets the call. I still rate five stars.

4A couple quirks, but does what it's designed to do.
By A Customer
I won't rehash everthing that people have said. This oven definitely is a great toaster and oven. I previously owned a Delonghi Airstream convection oven and the Cuisinart does a more consistent baking job. I think other reviewers have hit all the high points of the oven. Here are a couple "irritating" things that I've found. They don't take away from the quality or ability of the oven, just things that could have been done differently.

The manual is overwritten to the point of being very confusing. Very basic features are talked about at length making it seem like the features are more complex than they really are. For example, it talks about all these "custom" toasting options which are really just the buttons you push to describe what you are toasting. And then goes on and on about the timer function which is just a basic countdown timer. I can only imagine the hours of consultation that went into the writing of the manual.

My biggest gripe about the oven is that it does not have the option to shut off when the timer goes off. I use the oven for reheating dinners and so I usually put a plate of food in for 15 minutes and then I like the oven to shut off in case I'm not in the kitchen. Unfortunately the Cuisinart just keeps beeping but doesn't actually shut off the oven which means if I'm not around the kitchen, my food will keep on cooking.

The convection fan in the Cuisinart is smartly designed to change speeds as it reaches different temperatures. As the oven gets to full temp, the fan is on full speed which is pretty loud. I actually returned my first Cuisinart because it was vibrating the countertop so loudly at full speed, I thought I definitely had a defective unit. The replacement Cuisinart fan was a tad quiter, but still gets to a quiet roar when at full temp. The Delonghi fan is much quiter, but I'd guess doesn't generate nearly the same air flow.

Finally, I miss the light from my Delonghi. Seems like an easy thing that Cuisinart should have put in, but didn't.

As a side note, I was pleased to find the Cuisinart being the only appliance in my entire house that did not lose the time when the lights flicked off and back on during a storm. Not sure how long it would hold the time, but at least for a second or two.

Again, I agree that the Cuisinart is the best built, best performing oven I've seen. I like its 3-year warranty which is rare on any small appliance. That alone should tell you that Cuisinart is confident about the quality of their toaster.

5Beautiful, amazing toaster oven
By S. Katz
I never expected I'd spend this much on a toaster oven. My old Black and Decker, the $... variety, worked just fine... except for that disturbing buzzing it'd make sometimes when I turned it on. And it was small. When this Cuisinart came up on my Gold Box one day I was utterly tempted. I looked at reviews. I researched it on Consumer Reports (where it received the best scores, but did not get a best buy rating only because of price). And I was impressed enough to buy it.

My first thought when I received this in the mail and unpacked it was 'Wow, what a beautiful appliance!' Because it is. It's shiny chrome with a black front, a heavy-duty glass door, and digital display. All the buttons are soft-touch, and it feels like it's made well.

But then, what else do you expect from Cuisinart?

My second thought was 'Wow, this thing is big!' It's much larger than your average toaster oven. In fact, the tray and broiling pan that came with it is twice the size of my old toaster oven. The manufacturer website says that the pan is large enough to hold a nine-inch pie plate, and I believe it. It definitely is. You can actually seriously cook with this thing, for more than one or maybe two people if you're lucky.

I've used it twice so far, once to broil a burger, the other to broil/bake some chicken. And I've already noticed a difference. It's wonderfully silent and it cooks very fast. But it also gets very hot. I never knew that my old toaster oven wasn't broiling at the right temperature until I had the fat that drained from the burger popping and spitting at me.

It has a convection feature which I haven't yet used, but that's only because I haven't tried to bake in it yet. It is also capable of toasting 6 slices of toast at once, and has a memory feature so you can remember how your toast was last done. It will also reheat toast or keep it warm for you.

The oven comes with a small manual with some recipes that look excellent in it. It also gives you the opportunity to take advantage of the three rack positions you can use by showing where you'd use them. The manual also has several helpful hints for using the various features, such as recommendations for darkness settings on various types of toast.

Advantages: Beautiful to look it, easy to use, definitely on with the temperatures, convection oven capabilities, programmable toastingDisadvantages: the top of it gets hot, so don't leave anything on top of it, and it's expensive.

I'd definitely recommend it, especially if, like me, you're looking to build a functional kitchen with quality appliances, the sort that's a joy to cook in rather than a chore.

4beautiful glow
By Ghetto Diva
As skin ages, the number one problem aside from lines, is dullness. ALL of the Revlon Skinlights work beautifully to restore a glow to skin that is very natural-looking. I discovered this product about 4 years ago & recently compared it with HIGHBEAM (or MOONBEAM) made by Benefit. There is NO comparison. While I love Benefit products, Revlon has really come through with a "sheer" highlighter easily applied to any part of the face that needs a bit of light without looking like a ton of product has been applied. And of course, the price of Revlon's product is about a third of Benefit's. Way to go REVLON!

5Mature ladies! Score this wonderful stuff!!
By J. Arena
For a comparatively little price, you can give yourself a bit of that youth "glow" that used to come naturally. Use a tiny dab of Revlon Skinlights Instant Skin Brightener wherever you want that shimmer to accent your features. Voila! The effect of Revlon Skinlights Instant Skin Brightener can be subtle enough to use in bright sunlight, but with a little extra application, can create a more dramatic look. If you've been after that subtle "glitter" look that you've seen in fashion magazines, Revelon has most definitely got the goods!

5Great pics from this printer
By George Rabatin
The printer is great. I couldn't be happier with it, especially since it is so inexpensive. The thing I don't like is the fact that the ink costs an arm and a leg -- check out the cost of HP cartridge 78...If you print many photos, the ink costs start to add up--mainly if you are doing full letter size prints. However, it's still much cheaper than getting film developed.

2Good prints... bad compatibility
By M. Perry
I've had the P1000 for a couple of years. Worked great with WindowsME. After installing XP on my desktop I had to reinstall the printer software to get it to work. Just got a new laptop and it doesn't work at all.. in fact, the P1000 causes my Dell Inspiron to crash whenever I disconnect the USB cable. When the cable is connected the laptop never recognizes the printer.

5Best Computer Acessory
By A Customer
A year and a half ago, I purchased everything I needed for my first computer. I did a lot of research and went way wrong with highly recommended Dell computer. But, based on what I could see at the store (the clerks at CompUSA are not too eager to help) I bought this printer. It has been the best purchase of my computing experience. Photos are flawless, as is everything else I print with this printer. It seeems to do what it is supposed to and musch more incredibly well.

5It's a very reliable printer...
By Xkini99
I love my PhotoSmart 1215 but was a little discouraged when the driver for XP was not available. The neat thing about this printer is, if you mainly use it to print photos from a memory card, you don't have to be connected to your PC. Just know which numbers you want to print, enter and off it goes. The quality of my prints has been great. Right now it's connected to my iMac and is doing splendidly. It's quite dependable and not expensive. I'd recommend it highly.*****

5Fantastic Photo Printer
By N. G SMITH
This has been a great printer for me. I regularly print both 4x6 and letter size photos. The quality is outstanding, and the automatic paper sensor is a good feature. I had absolutely no problems with set up. The only improvement would be to print borderless.
