4Review of Cakewalk Plasma - Great for DIY home studios !
By A Customer
This is the first cakewalk sequencer I have purchased since the one bundled with Sound Blaster AWE32 soundcards, which was very basic. (Sorry can't recall the name) It is very good value compared to the competition, ie Acid or Ableton Live, but is less intuitive in terms of the user interface in my opinion, which tends to be a bit cluttered in some ways.

Plasma is essentially a midi sequencer (in the feature packed tradition of cakewalk products) with the ability to record audio straight to disk, and to sequnce that Audio in the form of Loops much like Acid from Sonic Foundry. Unlike Acid to use a loop more than one time in a track you cannot simply draw the loop with the cursor. You have to actually load it in again from the loop preview window, or copy and paste from the last occurence of the loop. This is somewhat annoying when you are in a hurry to complete a mix of reasonable length, and is not near as intuitive as Acid's loop drawing feature. As usual midi sequencing is very good , with plenty of different and usefull quantize and midi editing features, as many have come to expect from cakewalk.

A great strength of plasma is it's bundled effects module known as FXPAD , it is quite usefull for getting a quick idea of the type of effect you are after, though (to my ears) it is somewhat lacking in sound quality compared to stand-alone third party Directx plugins.

Another great feature is the bundled loops, which are on the same install CD as the software itself in the form of .wav files. They are mostly usefull loops, though some of them are a bit cheesy sounding, also only some are marked with actual speed in BPM in the filename, which causes headaches if you are in a hurry. There could also be more hi-hat patterns and lead-ins in the percussion section.

What I like the most about plasma is actually the sound engine itself. It is very LOW LATENCY in terms of the time for a sound to enter the soundcard , be processed, and be output. This makes it great for use with realtime effects and softsynths. (Be aware though that it only supports DirectX plugins, no VST).

It achieves it's low latency performance, by bypassing the microsoft API known as KMixer which is responsible for latency issues for realtime audio processing under windows. Kmixer can cause latency to be minimum 30ms (+ that of your particular soundcards drivers) which is terrible for live recording/performance. I got 20ms latency on a duron 800 (KT-133A chipset), using the built in AC-97 Codec and the latest drivers from VIA !

Even better realtime performance (less than 10Ms !) is available using a run of the mill soundblaster Live card plus driver from the Russian Kx-Project. (I cannot recommend enough for SB owners to switch to these awesome replacement drivers , which by the way are free, and about 3MB in size compared to Creative's 20MB garbage) Try doing a search in google for this.It is very good in my opinion to have such good realtime DSP performance (Thanks to the well optimized SONAR Engine) without having to shell out for a Pro-Spec soundcard such as those based on the Envy-24 chipset. They are great cards but are not cheap.

Cakewalk Plasma is basically Sonar minus a few features. The feature that I personally regret not having is the ability to use more than one soundcard at a time. There are more differences that I don't have the time to cover here. Cakewalk are quite helplfull answering questions (I have found) so write to them to clarify the differences if you are seriously considering buying this product.

I am currently mixing together a rap demo-CD for a friend from the pre-made loops plus his freestyle rapping. Overall it has been a hassle free experience so far... :)

All in All - Cakewalk Plasma is A good Value Product , with plenty of Bang-for-Buck. I hope this review has been usefull to you. Best of Luck ~ Cameron

3Good potential but technical problems
By Christopher L. Bradshaw
This program is the first MIDI sequencer/audio mixer I have bought and have been quite pleased as long as it's running. There's no manual for it but the help section is wonderfull and in no time I was creating beautiful pieces. Firstly if your computer has higher than DirectX 8.1 it won't install unless you find the patch utility file (provided by Cakewalk's website) and use it to help the installation. That didn't bug me too much but sometimes when I work with the program it will freeze or crash. My puter is not that old with 3.06 Ghz Pentium processor, plenty of RAM, Hard disk space, and the stock SB Audigy sound card. I'm currently waiting to get a Service Pack CD for Windows XP as I suspect the problem to be stemming with XP and not necessarily Plasma. The effects that you can use are great and importing new soundfonts is easy. I do think though that Cakewalk didn't want to spend too much time on this program as there isn't much support or chat about it in the musician world. I think I'm going to get serious and try Sonar 3 studio or even better professional but man that's a lot of bread!

4For the money it can't be beat
By M. H. Taylor
I get frustrated by all the negative reviews this lens gets on the web. Yes, the AF is slow and the IS is first generation. Yes, it's not totally sharp and it's slow at the long end. But what other $440 (inc shipping) 300mm lenses with IS is there?* The DO costs $1100 and is shorter but heavier and the optics are not much better.* The 100-400L costs $1400, is much larger and just as slow.* The 70-200/4L is 50% more expensive, only 200mm and lacks IS.* The new 70-300 IS that replaces this lens will probably be a better lens than this version but it costs 50% more and currently (Oct 05) is still not available in the US.The 75-300mm IS is my zoo lens so I don't use it nearly as much as my standard zoom for everyday photography. On my Digital Rebel with its 1.6x crop factor this lens is the equivalent of 120-480mm in 35mm terms, and with the image stabilization feature it makes for some exotic optics. Play to this lens' strengths (middle of the aperture range [don't be afraid of higher ISO settings to achieve this] and not the extreme long end) and your images will be able to be printed at 8x10 without an issue. You're not going to be able to easily track a speeding cheetah with this lens but that is not what this lens is for. It's also unfair to compare this lens to L series alternatives - if you can afford L series lenses then use them but don't cut those of us down without your disposable income just for enjoying this lens. If you own this lens and you want to improve the quality of your images remember to always use a lens hood. Also, the IS is amazing but there are limits; a monopod will improve image sharpness no end. But both these tips apply equally to most lenses both cheaper and more expensive. This lens has earned a permanent place in my camera bag. It's cheap enough and light enough to carry just in case you might need a strong telephoto. The IS really works and is really useful on a telephoto with this kind of zoom range. Don't be put off or intimidated by lens snobs and line counters. This lens also holds its value well; buy it, and use it, now while you're saving for your L dream telephoto and you will be able to sell it for not much less than you paid for it when the time comes to upgrade. When that time comes you just might decide that you want to keep the 75-300mm IS around as well. This lens is great value and very useable even if it is not a great lens.

3Picture quality not bad, but far too slow.
By Matt
I shot a roll of a film with a newly purchased 75-300 IS and returned it shortly afterwards. I was satisfied with the image quality (although it could be sharper at the 300mm end), however I found the performance of the lens to be unacceptable. The focusing speed is WAY too slow. For those of you who don't already know, there are TWO kinds of USM motors. One of them is very fast and allows focus override, one of them is very slow and does not allow for focus override. This lens has the latter. This lens flaunts the fact that it has a USM motor, but believe me, in terms of focusing speed, you will not be able to detect any difference between this lens and the non-USM 75-300 lens. The fact that the lens is a slow, dark f/5.6 at 300mm doesn't help things either. The image stabilizer does work well, but the focusing motor is just too slow. This is the first lens Canon made with IS and therefore contains the older USM motor (as far as I know, none of the other IS lenses contain this type of motor). Canon should really update this lens and put a better focusing motor in it. If they were to do that, this would be a KILLER lens.

During the event I shot using the 75-300 IS USM, I lost many good shots because the lens kept hunting instead of locking onto my subject. At one point I actually ended up throwing it into manual focus because it was just easier that way. Unfortunately, if you want a long telephoto zoom that focuses quickly, you have to throw out a lot more money and buy something like the 100-400 IS USM (which contains the GOOD USM motor) or the 70-200 USM (also containing the good focusing motor).

I'll close by saying that this lens will *probably* work well for you if you know you'll always be shooting places where there is VERY sufficient light (aka outside). Otherwise, I'd stay away from this lens.

3Not bad, but not great (like the 28-135mm)
By Jim
This is my third lens, I already have the amazing f1.4 50mm and the truely great 28-135mm IS. Comparing this lens to the 28-135 IS, this lens is very slow to focus, has difficulty focusing in low light, and the photos it takes are not nearly as sharp. On the other hand... it's a 300mm lens - it'll take you quite close to a subject, and the IS means that you can handhold it in reletively decent light. Two big drawbacks - the IS doesn't work on tripod, and it doesn't have a "real" USM motor, so you can't mix AF and MF modes, you have to choose between modes with a switch. If I had to do it over again, I'd probably still get this lens, since the next level up (70-200 IS) is four times more expensive, and even the 50-500 is twice as expensive. If you intend to handhold shots, the IS is probably worth it over the non-IS version.

5An excellent lens for the budding nature photographer
By Scott Burgess
Prospective buyers of a macro lens for a Canon EOS system have a great first choice in this 100mm Macro. The extra length over a 50mm macro gives much better working distance (space between lens and subject) in the field, and EOS-compatible lenses by other manufacturers match poorly with accessories and are nowhere near as sharp.Compared with the earlier Micro Motor 100mm Macro that Canon made (which I also own), the USM lens focuses *very* fast. The USM lens also can accept Tripod Collar B (by use of a small plastic adapter)--I recommend you buy the collar with the lens, as adjusting to a vertical composition with a tripod means repositioning everything. The front element is not recessed in the USM model, which makes lens cleaning easier than with its predecessor. And build quality is improved--the earlier model was prone to its switches breaking (could fix it yourself with the ordered part, but really annoying) and eventually the Micro Motor gearing gave out (no trouble so far with the USM ring motor). The USM model will work with Canon's 2x teleconverter by interposing a 12mm extension tube, allowing 2x magnification with lots of working distance, though this is not nearly as nice a solution as the 180mm lens referenced below.I will quibble with another reviewer--Canon does make sharper lenses, and sharpness compared with the earlier model is virtually the same. But this is still one of the sharpest lenses you can buy, and ergonomically a huge improvement over its predecessor.Having said that, Canon now has an L-series 100mm macro that is a bit sharper and has better bokeh (out-of-focus highlights). A serious hobbyist might consider that lens, though it costs about 40% more on the street. I purchased the Canon EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro Lens less than a year ago, and am very impressed with its greater sharpness and working distance relative to this lens. If you work much with small critters, take a look at that lens before making a purchase. If you are building up a set of lenses for outdoor/nature photography and you do occasional macrophotography, this might be the first or second lens to buy. If you work significantly at magnifications greater than 1:1, consider the Canon 65mm 1x-5x Macro zoom.

5An extremely versatile lens.
By Richard B. Williams
This is the lens I leave on my camera for general purpose use. At non-macro focus distances, it is a very fast lens in a convenient short-telephoto length. The images are sharp out to the corners. This is one of those great Canon lenses that probably deserves an L-series rating but is available without the red stripe and exorbitant cost.Tested in an astrophotography context (point sources on black backgrounds - excellent for revealing aberration and coma), I have found that this lens is reasonably sharp at f/4 and completely sharp by f/5.6. For daylight terrestrial photography, the tiny aberrations caused by the wide-open f/2.8 aperture are hardy noticeable and by f/4 the images are exquisitely sharp. There is a lot of glass in this lens - it is heavy. I highly recommend buying the tripod collar as it allows you to attach the camera and lens to a tripod or ballhead with much better balance. Also, if you plan on using the macro functionality, keep in mind that the effective f-stop of the lens goes way up when you're focusing at very close range. At 15cm from the front surface, it performs as though it were an f/9. You'll either want a lot of light or a very steady subject and a good tripod (another reason to buy the hideously overpriced tripod collar).

5Sharp, versatile and a bargain
By G. Clark
The 100 f/2.8 macro is very sharp, even for general shooting, so it works great for portraits, too. When I'm not using a zoom, this is my walkaround lens for people, relatively tight scenes and even indoor sports. Think of it as a great lens that also shoots macro than the other way around. Hard to beat that versatility at the price. But it comes into its own at close distances. If you've never had a macro lens, you'll run around shooting everything in sight because everything looks new from a macro perspective.Canon has several macro lenses. I prefer the 100 mm over shorter lenses because I don't have to get quite as close to that bee or wasp. The 180 mm gives you even more distance from your subject, more background blur and amazing sharpness. But it's much more expensive and in most cases you'll need a tripod, and I shoot a lot of improptu macros as I'm hiking. For extreme closeups with larger-than-life images, there's the MP-E 65. It goes up to 5X, compared to the 100mm's 1X, but you lose autofocus with this lens. In fact, you set your magnification and then move the camera until the object is in focus! As you get beyond about 2X, the viewfinder gets fairly dark. If you're doing still life macro work, it's amazing. I'll probably get one someday for shooting my mineral colletion. One thing to keep in mind with any macro is that because of the close distances, you're often in lower light conditions. Althought it's fairly pricey, I'm using the MT-24 EX, which lets you adjust the direction of the twin flashes. The MR-14EX ring light is a couple hundred dollars cheaper but will produce a slightly flatter image. And you can always use one of the standard flashes, though the closeness of your subject may cause some odd shadows.

3Not Quite Perfect
By Marc Ruby™
Normally I wouldn't bother with a gun for pins this small, but my elbow has been acting up, and faced with a lot of detail nailing for glue up I went looking for a pin nailer. As luck would have it, I had an opportunity to compare several. One of these was the Senco.I have several Senco nailers and like them all but I find that, while the heavy duty Senco nailer are trustworthy machines, the light duty models are a bit underbuilt. This is the case with the Senco FinishPro 10. It worked fine most of the time, but when pinning from underneath it jammed several times in a series of about 150 shots. That is the first time I've had that problem with a Senco, and it's a pain to unjam.Another thing I didn't like about this gun was the lack of a safety. This is as much a hobbyist's gun as it is anything else, which means it will get used by folks who aren't used to this kind of tool. Flying 23 gauge pins can do serious damage even if they are small. I also didn't like having to manually set pin length - something I'm a cinch to forget (more jams). One characteristic of all of the guns in this category is the need to operate them at full pressure if you want to drive the pin below the surface. And that isn't always effective. My conclusion is that Senco's decision to make this an inexpensive tool kept it from being of the same high quality as Senco's other nailers. If price is your main driver the FP 10 will do, but if you need a high level of dependability, look further.

5The Right Tool for the job.
By Anant Dabholkar
I installed some cabinetry at home and used this tool beased on the reviews here to attach the scribes and delicate trim to these expensive hard maple cabinets. It worked like a charm. Never misfired, set the pins perfectly, no botched pins or split wood. Can't even see the holes, so its easier than gluing or puttying holes for an 18 gage nailer.

The nails/pins should be loaded one way only, and a few drops of oil at the beginning of the project keeps this gun performing flawlessly. No problems whatsoever.

5Works as Advertised
By Bryan
I bought this to fasten window trim into a timber framed glass wall I built. I had some really tiny windows in the wall that only had room for a nail gun with a max size of 7". I used this tool and it worked perfect. I have since used it for all sorts of stuff like nailing really small trim and shooting some "temporary" pins in odd shaped things I am gluing up so that I could attach a clamp. The nail holes are reall small and you probably don't need to patch the holes unless you are painting the finish product white. I have used this tool on just about every job I've done in the last few months. If you do any finish carpentry, you really should have one of these.

5Excellent for home improvement and professional tiling jobs
By N.G.M
I purchased the MK-101 while working on a large scale remodeling project for our church, rather than renting and returning a tile saw repeatedly to complete the job. The performance and design of the MK-101 turned out to be first class. Whether cutting ceramic wall or floor tiles, as well as pieces of granite, the MK-101 sliced through them effortlessly, and with a high degree of accuracy. The attachements for cutting angles and bevel cuts also worked very well, and proved to be quite useful for inside and outside corner cuts. When not cutting through tiles, the motor runs quietly compared to other saws we had rented, and I found the water tray under the saw is easily removed for clean-up. I have done a number of other smaller tiling jobs since purchasing this unit, and the blade seems to cut as well as it did when I first used it. I would recommend you purchase a tile saw base to set this unit on - its a bit heavy and make-shift bases made from things like saw-horses are a bother to set up and drag around. If you are a serious home remodeler or a professional, this is an excellent product and is reasonably priced when compared to other comparable units I have seen.

3Has the power but not the engineering
By W. A. Freeman Jr.
I wish the Japanese could help these guys with engineering their saw. It has the potential to be a great tool but lacks some engineering. It reminds me too much of American made tools. Oh, that's right, it is American made.

The table is very sticky. Never seems to get much better even with lubrication. It is hard to line up your work. I found I can line up the beginning of the cut but there is no real way to line up the complete cut without raising the head and doing trial runs. The instructions that came with it are poorly written and incomplete. I went to MK's website and found a better version, but they seem to assume the purchaser already knows about their saw. The instructions on saw head placement are useless. I still don't know where to put the saw head for a given application. The water bin stopper should have a string attached to it and the saw to keep from losing it. It is just a matter of time before I lose that thing.

The ATS stand, with wheels, is a necessary option because of the saws weight at 110 pounds. Otherwise you must have two people or disasemble the saw each time you move it. The instructions to assemble the ATS wheeled stand are the worst I have seen in twenty years. It is obvious MK needs new minds in their saw engineering and in their instructional editing.

The motor is powerful at 2hp. The blade that comes with the MK-101Pro makes ceramic tile and marble feel like butter. The saw frame and body are heavy duty and should last longer than your back. When I ordered the saw from a vendor I also ordered an additional blade. Both were to be drop-shipped from MK. The truck line failed to give me the saw blade when they delivered the saw. I notified MK and they promptly shipped me another. The first blade showed up several days later from the trucking company, the same day as the second blade they shipped on UPS. I promptly returned one of the blades. It was nice to be trusted.

2Good and Bad
By A Customer
I need to tell you about my MK 101 Saw. Recently the saw stopped working and I contacted your sales office. They were very helpful and overnighted a new switch to me. Since my saw was dead there is a quick fix to get a person by until a new switch can be obtained. The switch is a 20A DPDT. The second set of contacts are not used and if the first set of contacts is the problem simply swapping to the other set will get it working. They will not be worn or burnt from the constant on off cycling.I bought the saw from a local distributor. They charged my $1085.00 for the MK 101. Since that time I have found that $799.00 is the average price. I will not do business with that distributor again.Third and last is both good and bad:The saw cuts very well however it has more vibration in the bade shaft than when it was new. At this wear rate by next year it will have to have new bearings/sleeves.My biggest complaint is the quality of the sliding table and attachments. The set screw rip guide is difficult and time consuming to make small adjustments. The tiny finger bolt to tighten the guide loosens with saw vibration unless tightened with pliers. MY fingers wont do it on such a tiny surface without pain. Use of pliers is making the back of the sliding table rough because it is soft material. Eventually this surface will be ruined and fine adjustments impossible. Why not put a sliding cam-lock fence like you find on quality table saws. Time putzing around with the existing one is costing me money. It is also common for me to lay tile on a diagonal or cut tile to fit on a tapered wall. The fence should have a quality protractor and pivot. Or, it should be a quality piece that can be added to the fence or used separately. The scale on the sliding table is worthless. Why put one on there if your not going to spend the time to make it useful? The dimple surface on the table helps but I still wash it down with a sponge often. On either side of the cut line should be a solid rib and the kerf should be no more than twice the thickness of the blade. Better yet these two flats should be independently adjustable. They could then be closed for cutting mosaics and glass tile. The saw is too heavy. I could cut 30% off by using better materials and doing some engineering. I have mine strapped to a dolly. You could just mount your saw to a designed for the purpose dolly. Put a seat on the handle end. That's what I did with mine. The tub did not fit the frame when I got it. I had to grind and smooth the frame opening so I could get the tub in and out without damaging it. The vacuum formed tub scared me when I first saw it. It has held up ( I am very Careful) but a rotationally molded PE or PEX tub would be better. The little added fence holder welded on is worthless. The fence does not fit and sticking out like that is a hazard. Put a latch on the far end (under the motor) of the sliding table so when you push it forward you can make it stay when moving the saw. I have gotten some pretty painful knuckle/finger slams when the table slides out of control when I am trying to lift this beast into my truck. So there you have it. As a result I am in the market for a better saw. From what I have seen though your saws are not designed to make the tilers life easier so I am shopping around.

4Good performance, value
By Tony DaGiau
I've been using the FP32 for only a few weeks so I can't comment on durability, but I've been happy with the performance-value aspect. Previous reviewer dissed foam grip which is definitely cheapo (one star deduction). But for the price it shoots nails nicely and has a decent length range which is 1-1/4" to 2-1/2". Also, depth adjustment works well (air must be disconnected to adjust). Nail track is beveled at tail which helps fit in some tight spots--but not like an angle nailer. To unload nails, just depress the lever through the finger hole in the spring-loaded lever and out they slide. Also a 1/4" male coupler is included (which is new for Senco, I think).

3Good value with some limitations
By Richard Durbin
When my wife asked me to install some crown molding, I figured that this was the time to invest in a compressor and nail gun. The FinishPro 32 looked like a good value and, for the occasional user, it certainly is. The instruction book is very limited and I have yet to find out how to unload nails from the unit. The straight magazine makes getting into some tight spots a little more difficult than an angled nailer would be but, for the difference in price, the nail guns with an angled magazine were not worth it to me. The foam grip on the handle began to disintegrate by the time I had driven a couple hundred nails. If I were running a production shop, this would not be the gun I would choose but, for my home improvement and furniture building chores it has been serving me quite well. I would buy it again.

5Typical Senco Quality
By T. Gabriel
I used one of these in the '80s for finish work when I did that kind of thing for a living. I have moved on from that career to others and now woodworking is a hobby. Had to have a finish nailer and went to the one I knew best. Does what it is supposed to do: Drive finish nails. Padded grip? No problems at all.

5Finally Something That Doesn't Make My Eyes Dry!!!
By David R Large
After using CRTs my entire life I decided to take the plunge and go with a nice LCD. After some initial research my friend recommended Microtek. I got the monitor from Office Depot and was very impressed. My eyes no longer get dry everytime I use the computer for quite some time which is just amazing to me.

I did have a dead pixel develop in the bottom left quadrent but I was pleasantly suprised when I called up Microtek and they told me their zero tolerance policy on LCD monitors. With just 1 dead pixel they swapped it out on the spot.

Great service, great product!! I would buy another one for sure!!

5Excellent 24V Battery! Even Replaces Old Bosch BAT 030 "Platinum"!
By Jiggy Bear
Years ago I purchased a Bosch 24 Volt "Platinum line" cordless combo set as a gift for my husband. When the time came to replace the batteries I was unable to find genuine Bosch batteries that were compatible, and a call to Bosch confirmed they stopped making them. I'd heard warnings about "compatible" aftermarket batteries causing fires and decided against buying any. I thought I would have to replace the combo set but put it off, as my husband had other cordless tools to get by on and we couldn't afford a new set. When I saw the Amazon.com listing for the BAT 240, I didn't think the battery would be compatible or replace the old BAT 030 based on what Bosch had told me previously. When I visited the Bosch website, the description stated it would be compatible with all _current_ Bosch 24V tools, still leaving me wondering. Finally, I called Bosch and found out the BAT 240 does replace the BAT 030 and would work fine with the old Bosch Platinum line cordless tools. I also found out it we could charge it on his existing charger. We were elated! I immediately ordered the BAT 240 from Amazon.com, and it an excellent battery! Here is information from the package in case anyone needs to check compatibility:BAT 240 (p/n 2607335452); 24v 2.4 a-H Battery; Up to 50% longer life; Bosch BlueCore TM cooling rods absorb the heat inside the batteries; Battery cell (sic) last longer because they stay cooler; for Models: 13624, 52324, 3924, 1660K-24, 1645K-24, 11524, 3452. WARNING: Charge only with BC003, BC004, BC006, BC015, BC016, BC130, BC230. Protect terminals from shorting, burns or fire may result. Is it powerful? Yes! Even better than the previous ones when they were new! Charges very quickly, too.The Bosch website [...], for more information and a look at their new tools and any current promotions. I hope this review is helpful and saves you time and money. Rock on with Bosch!

5It's a Ni-Cad
By Charles Dixon
The BAT030 is a NI-Cad battery. This is good because the Ni-Mh have not been as good as promised. They do have the memory effect but not as much but they have been found to not endure as long as Ni-Cad in high current applications such as in 14.4 V power tools and up. They have been found to perform better in low current applications such as laptops and cell phones.

In addition, you can reduce the memory effect by not leaving the battery on the charger after it is fully charged and exercising the battery by running it down to nothing about once a month.

5Quick Install, Beautiful Photos!
By Paul Claxton
This printer replaces an older HP color ink jet for me. Installation was quick and easy using my USB 2.0, the printer is backwards compatable with the slower USB 1.1 ports. The USB 2.0 is about 20 times faster than the older USB version 1.1 ports.

The printer includes six ink cartridges, software, and two different cables to connect directly to Canon cameras but not the needed USB cable to connect the printer to the computer. A nice feature is the included media adapters that will take your camera memory and plug them into the printer's PCMCIA port. My package included a Canon adapter for CompactFlash and another by Dazzle that works for four different types including SmartMedia.

The prints are simply beautiful using the sample of five sheets of included glossy paper. The colors are accurate and sharp. The 4x6 frameless prints take less than a minute to print out, 30 minutes to completely dry and they recommend 24 hours before putting them under glass or in an album.

The printer can be used without a computer connected to it using the LCD screen on the righthand side of the machine and a camera's memory card. The image adapter available for [X] connects to a port on the top of the printer to allow you to preview pictures when used to print without the computer.

5beautiful photo printer
By A Customer
Other review has talked much about this printer. I only have few comments for those who don't know:- First, the USB cable is not included. You have to buy the USB cable to install the software to re-align the print head, for example. The print head was factory set and produce beautiful print though- Second, the little LCD screen is not included and cost 100 USD to purchase separately. You need it if you print photo directly from your memory card in the built in slot of the printer. Without the screen, you can't print from this slot.- Third, there are "selected" Canon camera that support direct print with this printer. My ELPH S110 only works with the CP-10 or CP-100 photo printer, but not with this printer. What a pain!- 4"x6" borderless paper is what you probably need as it give a nice borderless photo at ease. Printing direct on A4 or letter paper waste a lot of paper at the edge. You may as well cut the A4 to 4 pieces and print from the PC, which allow you to print, say, A6 borderless photo. Don't get bother with the perforated paper.- The sample pack paper give the best result. I wonder if they sell it.- Turn on the Image optimizer with Vivid photo option gives even better picture when printing direct.- If you don't want the direct printing, or you always edit your photo first before printing, go for some other Canon printer that do not have direct printing, it will save you some big bucks.

My wife loves this printer, because she can work with it alone, without a PC. That's the point, after all, to have a direct printing option, right?

5Great Pictures
By diane moran
It took a lot of searching before I decided to purchase a good printer and this one is a great one. The pictures are clear and they print fast. I showed them to friends and didn't tell them that I printed them at home and they were very surprised when I told them. Spend the extra money and get a good printer. This printer also include photo ink, which is really needed for a clean print. Make sure you also get the right paper.
