4Great Incra Features for a Great Price
By David E. Soffrin
Not only was I impressed with the product, but the packing was superb, usually things arrive poking through the box but even the carton was well designed. Setup was a cinch, the instructions included photos and clear directions. I was already prepared thanks to Incra's offering the instructions on their website for the 1000, 2000 and 3000 Models which also offered an opportunity to compare their features. The Model 1000, although at the low end was very similar to the Model 3000 except that it uses a simpler design to calibrate between the 5 degree settings; a gauge rather than a second incremental set of notches, which, although more accurate, was much more than I needed. Adjusting the miter bar was also simple but I found I had to come down hard on the screws to expand the nylon washers to fit the saw groove. Squaring the head to the blade was simple and much easier than squaring the blade to the old style, fixed head miter gauges. Incra supplies you with all the hex wrenches you need including a long handled, ball head driver for adjusting the fence. A word about the fence: the 1000 Model uses a simple sliding stop block which you can use if you attach an auxiliary wood fence. I would prefer the flip-stop which comes with the 2000 model because the stop can be moved forward to clear a 3/4 inch wood fence face. This fence does not use the Incra indexing system, however, all things considered it is an impressive and extremely accurate device, somewhat heavy, but well made and extremely well thought out.

4Finally, some accuracy!
By A Customer
I just bought one of these for my old Delta-Rockwell table saw. The accuracy for mitered cuts is incredible. At this point, I can only find two faults with it. First, the guage blade is an anodized aluminum extrusion, with channels in it to hold the adjustable stop. The front surface of this blade is so slick that I have a hard time holding the stock stable while feeding it into the saw. This front surface needs to be tactile to keep the stock from slipping. I plan on adding a layer of self-sticking stair tread safety grip. The second fault is the two screws which hold the guage blade to the protractor. After setting the miter blade position for 90 degree cuts, the blade position is secured by two allen head screws (wrench is provided). But, to make 45 deg. or other angled cuts, the blade needs to be re-positioned with respect to the saw blade and that requires loosening the screws with the allen wrench - sort of awkward. If these screws were thumb-screw type or maybe some sort of cam lever, changing the miter blade position wouldn't be so tedious.

5Everything I expected and more
By L. Frawley
I've been using this miter gauage now for almost three months and I simply love it. I'm not sure if poor reviewers received bad items or their expectations are simply too high but this miter gauge is one of the best additions to my shop. The allen bolts for the fence position is not much of a pain as was outlined before. Incra gives you a large screwdriver-handled allen driver to use for the fence positioning which makes it easy as can be. I would worry about the constant vibration and loosening of knobs if Incra used those instead. Once you set the gauge square to your blade, it doesn't move one bit from there. Incra gives plenty of room for miter slot differences as well by choosing to use or not use 6 expandable, pressure washers. On my old table saw, I only had to use the three that were originally on the gauge. When I upgraded to my 22124, the miter gauge was slightly loose. I added two more washers, from all of the extras that Incra includes, and now it is tight as can be.Incra really put some solid engineering into this product and you can tell the first time you use it. The long fence alone is a great addition to running stock through my table saw. I've even used this as a tapering jig in a bind.

5The Bosch Behemoth, Great Unit, Best for Under a Table
By Bob Feeser
I must say that combining the 3 1/4HP, with an opening that is 3 3/4 inches wide, and the unique spring disabling mechanism, make this beauty the number one under the table piece of equipment. The 3 and 1/4HP gives you more than enough power to handle even the large 3 1/2" popular kitchen cabinet panel raising bits. The larger opening, gives you plunge capabilities with the larger bits. Larger bits require multiple passes. Their are two ways to make multiple passes, one is move the fence, the other is use the adjustable turret, and sequentially plunge the bit. The Bosch 1619EVS enables you to do that. That is not an option is usually available on other routers due to their reduced openings. The other thing to rave about is the spring defeat mechanism. Push a lever and the spring disappears from action. It free plunges, while still remaining in the base. (The new Australian model does that, but you have to remove the spring. No fun in a dusty environment.) This is important, because, when you have a router mounted upside down in a table, and you want to plunge the base, what often happens is that you lift the entire table. Now you are trying to compress a spring upside down, while holding the table down, and locking a mechanism all at the same time. It is enough to make you go to a fixed base router. :-) The problem with that is, except with the Porter Cable 3 1/4HP fixed base, their isn't any other routers out there that give you 3 1/4HP without going to a plunge base. In a table you preferably want the additional horsepower, even though you usually don't need more than 1 1/2 or 2 horses. The soft start feature, and having the smart electronics, combined with more power than you need, enables you to have a constant bit speed. When the going gets rough, the smart electronics pours on just the right amount of power, to keep it running constant. That is as long as their is enough power to spare. So the additional horsepower is better for that. The big advantage of the Bosch router line, is their fine adjustment knob. Nothing is more frustrating than to try and achieve a perfect setting, getting it close, then loosening the collar, and it jumps completely away from where you had it. The Bosch enables you to get a close gross setting with the collar-clamp, then dial in the perfect setting with the fine adjusting knob. No need to loosen the clamp. Just tweak the fine adjuster. That is sweet. What are the cons? No router has it all. That is why multiple routers are a good option. On the downside, is the weight. It is huge. At 19 pounds, it's a behemoth, but under the table, who cares. It also is louder than the competition. Makitas are the quietest. Also the Fein RT-1800 is much quieter, much lighter at 12 pounds, gives you 3 1/4HP in a plunge, is super engineered, but you can not plunge a 3 1/2" bit into the base, and the spring does not defeat. The funny thing about noise levels, is that they all make a lot of noise when they start biting into the wood.So their you have it. Combining the fine adjustment, with the large horsepower, the extra large opening in the base, the spring defeat feature, and the Bosch precision quality, you have a monster that can not be beat for an under the table installed router.I'm not into yeah this, and boo that. I think their are a lot of great routers out there, and each has it's own advantages. I just think this Bosch fits a much needed nitch. Hope this helps.

5A great workhorse
By A Customer
I upgraded to this machine after burning out two on/off switches on my Bosch 1617EVS router.

For the most part, this 1619 resides under a router table. With the extended handle that comes standard with the router, under table adjustments are quick. Roll the large diamer handle between your hands, and the router can be moved up or down about 2 inches in 15 seconds.

I've made about 40 raised panel doors with this router so far, and I really like the power it has. My panel raising bit is 2.5 inches in diameter. I remove about 5/16 in my first pass, and then take off 1/16 to get a nice clean surface. Taking 5/16 in one pass with this large bit does not bog this machine down.

The on/off switch is built into the handle which makes for convenient free-hand operation. The switch is difficult to reach when the machine is mounted under the table, but an auxillary switch on the router table solves that problem.

I also like the built in lock on the spindle. Bits can be changed with only one wrench.

5Superb Router
By John McQuitty
Superb Router! I have mine in a router table. It handles everything extremely well - from the smallest bit to the largest panel cutter. It is relatively quiet, and never bogs down with the electronic speed control. Soft start is excellent, although I don't use mine out of the table much. The depth settings are easily accomplished, repeatable, and accurate. The speed control is a bit of a stretch under the table, but otherwise I can find no fault with this router. It is one of the best tools in my shop. If you want a powerful router with finess, that does just about everything, this is it. A quality 5-star tool in all respects.

5Super tool to have in hand
By Todd J. Niblo
I was quite surprised to see Milwaukee introduce this tool.Particularly because in their drill line up, few new items have hit the pike lately and Milwaukee really is not known for their screw guns. However, that may change with this new product. Frankly, I think that Milwaukee builds the best drill motor out there, but traditionally, I have never thought that their drills are comfortable or well balanced to use all day. This new pitol grip changes that considerably. The new grip is small enough for most hands to feel that they can control it even if your body position is not ideal. The Quick-LocK cord is really a nice feature ( if you wear out, cutor nick the cord - it can be replaced with no tools or housing disassembly ), the trigger is of good quality, the reversing switch can be toggled easily while one-handing the screw gun and has no sharp eges, and the 0-2500 rpm speed range is acceptable for many fastening applications, including self drilling/ TEK type screws into metal. This kit is a new offering so durability is not proven, but Milwaukee's reputation should alleviate most concerns. This kit is appropriately named a Remodeler's kit that will come in handy for a variety of applications on the job or around the house. It is very comfortable, well made, comes standard with a variety of bits and sockets all in Milwaukee's standard metal case. I give it five because I believe the tool will endure years of projects and I think Milwaukee broke some new ground here, look for others to follow.

4Superb clutch!
By A Customer
The Milwaukee's superb clutch is one reason for buying this tool! The clutch operates very crisply; there is a momentary disengagement sound followed by complete silence from the clutch mechanism. By contrast, the clutch on my friend's DeWalt makes annoying noises (and vibrations) for as long as you have the motor on. Other good points: MADE IN THE USA, detachable power cord, handling, balance and position/location of the controls. Cons: 1) the unit arrived with lubrication leaking from the area where the motor is attached to the gears. This soiled the carry case and it continued for a couple of days before it eventually stopped. (I suspect that either a) it was over-lubricated or b) a seal broke and all of the lube leaked out.) 2) The rubber used for the detachable power cord is of the type that dirt, saw dust, etc. sticks to. All in all, I'm very satisfied with this purchase and can whole-heartedly recommend this tool.

5Extreme time saver!
By Lifelong Reader
I have been doing a lot of drywalling recently while remodeling my home. For a while I tried to get by using a normal drill to do the screws (nailing drywall is a ridiculous pain). The problem was that I had a terrible time setting the screws to the right depth. I was using a couple of those special drill bits that advertise the ability to help set drywall screws. I learned my lesson. One big problem was I had to use different thicknesses of drywall with different applications.

Then I bought this beauty... Let me say this: If you are drywalling or planning to drywall soon stop reading this review and buy this now! Drywall went from being a necessary pain to being actually a bit fun. First off the screw gun's ability to set screw depth acurately to within 1 /64 of an inch is awesome. A little click to the right or left with the nozzle and you're ready to rock. Next, 6.5 amps of power... wooowww! This thing has the torque and speed to easily power drywall screws through my century old wood framing. My normal drill choked often on this. Thirdly, magnetic tip. You don't realize how nice this is until you are putting up drywall panels on a 10 foot ceiling. You can one hand those screws all over the place within reach of your ladder. Just don't let it make you so lazy you start tipping over your ladder in an attempt to reach that one last place just barely out of reach... Fourthly, rugged steel case. Fifthly, the ability to drive basically any screw anywhere, wood or metal, with all the included bits and attachments. Sixthly, it's Milwaukee. That means built to take whatever you can dish out and a lifetime waranty.

Don't drywall without it!

5Smooth as Silk
By Bill Tusa
When I first unpacked this drill I thought it looked very long and unwieldly, but after comparing it to my 3/8" drill I found it to be only 1/2" longer. Milwaukee did the right thing by providing the side locking handle and steel keyed chuck with this drill it is needed to control the torque it puts out when drilling thru steel of any thickness. The drill has a lot of torque for its size, yet it's feather smooth starts and operation makes it well suited for drilling in wood and other delicate materials. The only complaints that I would have with the drill is its balance, it is a bit front end heavy, also I have other Milwaukee tools with the Quik-Lok cord system on and this would make the drill easier to store in the case which I purchased with it.

5Great drill
By David Swanson
My primary drill is an 18-volt cordless. I felt that I needed a corded to supplement my cordless. I do have 2 smaller corded drills but they are old and not variable speed and rather low amp.I have the need to mix some joint compound, not regularly but just for a couple of rooms. I didn't want to rent a mixer if I didn't have to. I have used the 18-volt cordless but being battery operated it's not a great idea and I don't really want to spring for a second dedicated mixing drill for a couple of small jobs.I do have an old spade handle but it's one speed and too fast for mixing compound.I began looking around at different corded drills to see if I could find a high amp one that I thought might be up to the job of mixing compound in a limited capacity. This is 8 amp and the same size as the 5.5 amp drill. Dedicated mixers, spade handle drills are 7.5 amp. heavier geared and made more heavily for day in and day out mixing so therefore recommended for continued mixing. I again am looking to get away with an occasional mixing. Hitachi makes a small drill with a bit higher amperage but it doesn't look as substantial as the Milwaulkee plus Milwaulkee has a reputation for making really good drills. This drill is a heavy duty substitute for my cordless. Used when I need more drilling power, something that doesn't have a battery in the way, something where i need to go back and forth between drills and don't want to keep swaping bits and occassional mixing. Also, I saved some money by not getting the keyless chuck. I have one on my cordless but don't really need it here.So far it has been a wonderful, no frills value added addition that does what I need it to do.

5THE BEST

I have had DeWalts, Makitas, Black and Deckers, and Chinese pieces of junk. The Milwaukee (I have two, a 1/2 in. and a 3/8 in.) are simply the best, and nothing else is close. Don't waste your money on the others and be disappointed, and then buy the Milwaukee, buy it first and save.

5smooth operator
By Toolpig
I expect Makita tools to be better than most. This router is no disappointment. You won't believe how quiet it is until you use one for yourself. I like that I can use my existing Porter Cable accessories with it. As far as fixed base routers go , I have 3 PC 690's and the Bosch D handle. Iv'e also hade few craftsman, B&D and Dewalt routers. I like this one better. Why? It just feels right. It runs so smoothly. It's easy to adjust. It is very powerful. I like the simple but effective lock mechanism. Most of all it is so quiet compared to the others. The only thing I would change is I would add an arbor lock. I don't like using two wrenches to change bits. Are you listening Makita ? That is a very minor point and doesn't tarnish my over all opinion of the tool. If I had to go with only one router this would be the one. No hesitation , no thinking about it, no contest this is the best on the market.

5THIS IS ONE SUPER ROUTER
By JAMES MILLS
I HAVE BEEN USING MY NEW MAKITA RF1101 FOR ABOUT A WEEK NOW,OH MY GOODNESS WHAT A ROUTER. I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT ON THE FIRST JOB. I BUILD HIGH END CUSTOM FURNITURE IN MY SHOP IN LUBBOCK TEXAS AND I HAVE ALL MAKES AND TYPES OF ROUTERS INCLUDING THE MAKITA 3601C WHICH IS THE LITTLE D HANDLE ROUTER THAT SO MANY WOODWORKERS HAVE FALLEN IN LOVE WITH, ANYWAY, THIS NEW MAKITA IS POWERFUL WITH A 2 1/4 HP MOTOR I RAN IT IN GOOD HARD MESQUITE AND IT NEVER LOST SPEED NO MATTER WHAT SPEED I WAS RUNNING IT ON. I ALSO TRIED IT ON SEVERAL OTHER JOBS WITH DIFERENT WOODS AND FOUND IT TO BE JUST AS GOOD. IF I COULD OWN JUST 1 ROUTER I KNOW IT WOULD BE THIS NEW MAKITA. ALSO I WENT AND BOUGHT THE MAKITA RD1101 D HANDLE VERSION. THESE ARE ABSOLUTELY THE BEST 2 ROUTERS THAT I OWN. I OWN 9 ROUTERS BEFORE THESE 2 NEW MAKITA'S AND I FEEL THAT THE DUST WILL SETTLE ON THOSE 9. THIS IS THE FIRST ROUTER THAT I HAVE EVER FELT THIS WAY ABOUT. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR YOUR FIRST ROUTER THIS IS IT. IF YOUR LOOKING FOR ANOTHER ROUTER BUY THIS ONE. I FEEL SURE THAT YOU WILL SOON AGREE WITH ME ABOUT THESE NEW ROUTERS FROM MAKITA

5Makita D Handle
By Bob Feeser
The Makita D Handle is a super unit. It is so light and quiet, that it soon, will become your favorite hand held router. The stability of the D Handle configuration, is all the more reason. Their is no router that is a catch all, but this one is at the top of the heap for a favorite handheld. Two and one quarter horse power is great for most all applications. The smaller opening on the base lends itself to improved stability when working over smaller stock. The Makita is incredibly quiet. I thought I couldn't love a router more than I love my Fein, but this Makita has earned a side by side spot in my heart. The Fein is so light that it is excellent as a hand held, yet strong enough to be classified as an industrial production machine.Pertaining to the self locking collet, as found on the Fein, the Makita uses the twin wrenches. I am equally happy with both systems. The twin wrenches are easy to use. Centering your attention on the fact that your hands are actually stronger at squeezing two opposing arms together than your complete arms are, you understand the beauty of attaching the wrenches carefully, then squeezing to make a very secure clamping.By the way, the second resistance that is felt when removing the bit is a safety issue. If you have ever experienced a dislodging bit go flying across the room, you will know the second grip as a real asset. Some get confused, and wonder why when the nut is loose, the bit won't come out. Loosen it some more to the next tension before removing. The Makita has a flat top, so you can turn the unit on its head for easy access for bit changing. My initial interest in the Makita D Handle, is that I noticed Norm Abram using the previous model as his number one unit, most frequently used. The Makita and the Fein Router are actually my favorites. The Bosch's are very nice units, make great table mounted units, but are substantially louder, although it doesn't make that much difference because I wear ear protection while routing anyhow. It is nice that the Porter Cable template guides work in the Makita as well. I found the motor to be very smooth, with more than enough power, to not even slow down in hardwoods using normal size bits. Quiet, smooth, and powerful make this a top buy. Buy it you won't be sorry. Hope this helps.

5The Best There Is
By Dennis N. Schmidt
Best plunge router on the planet. Best plunging smoothness by far, best collet system and best construction. Noticed in one of the other reviews that the author thought that DeWalt made the Elu routers. The reverse is true. This router and the DW615 and DW621 are in fact made in Switzerland by Elu which is now a division of Black and Decker. The only minor complaint I have is that the router does not project the bit far enough forward in the maximum plunge position which is a factor in router table use. The Hitachi TR12 and M12V are superior in this regard and much cheaper, but they don't have the smoothness of plunge and exquisite quality of the DW625. For freehand use it's unbeatable, for router table use the M12V is a better bargain and might be just as useable.

5Soooo smooooth
By Toolpig
This router was top ratd in several woodworking magazines, so I thought I would try one. I also tried the Porter Cable,Hitachi, Makita, and Bosch. I have to agree. The DeWalt is tops for large plunge Routers. The plunge action is unmached anywhere. The Motor is so smooth, its hard to believe it's a portable power tool. I have had no problems with the variable speed, which I was wary about before I bought it. It will run any panel raising bit you can fit in the collet. I bought it to use in a router table. Not a good idea. Plunge routers are hard to adjust in a table. You have the plunge springs and gravity working together against you. Fixed base routers are much more convenient in this situation. But in its element, the big DeWalt can't be beat.

5Love the power!

Anyone using this router to do hand held plunge routing better have a strong grip! It's powerful. Even with the soft-start technology, the torque is amazing.

The dust collection attachment worked great until it broke. I see why it's made of clear plastic, to enable viewing the bit at work, but it sure breaks easily, and I haven't found a glue that will repair it permanently. So, I'm now thinking about adding the 621 - 2hp unit to my collection because of it's built in dust collection system. DeWalt should do something similar to the 625.

1piece of junk
By Patricia Inman
The first time my son used this sled it broke beyond repair, after he hit a small bump in the snow. We've had other wooden sleds for years. This one is only stapled and riveted together, rather than screwed together like others. This was a Christmas present from my son's grandparents, and was not purchased here.

4Really nice Sled
By Wilma Koss
Works well on hard packed snow. If the snow is not packed you need to make tracks. Steering mechanism had to be loosened but once that was done, it was easy to steer. Holes are already in the sled, ready for the installation of the rope for pulling the sled uphill, but should have been included. I would recommend this sled to anyone looking to buy a sled.
