5Great Value!
By James O. Andrews
I was fortunate enough this year to be able to upgrade several pieces of equipment in my shop. After spending a considerable amount of time studying reviews and looking at Jet, Delta and Powermatic equipment, I decided to go with JET because of the fit and finish, the features and overall value. I think that Jet has come a long way in the past 10 years to improve quality to a level as good as and in many cases better than their competition.

This jointer replaced a very old Delta which had handwheels located under the tables. I liked the Jet because the handwheels are located in front of the tables. Some people find that adjustment levers work best for them, but I have always prefered handwheels because its easier for me to make small adjustments.

The unit arrived in excellent condition. There were no scratches, dents or missing parts -great job Jet! It was packaged in two boxes with the contents of each identified on the outside of the boxes. By the way, the instruction manual is located in the (larger) box that contains the jointer table and various other parts. The smaller box contains the base, and the base door. Everything is tightly packed in styro containers and wrapped in plastic bags. Jet even packs a small can of paint, two wrenches and an allen wrench to adjust the cutters (however, mine were set perfectly at the factory). The instruction manual is well written and has good picture references.

I put the unit on a shopmade mobile base that I made and had used sucessfully with the Delta jointer. I like it because it lifts the unit up about 2" and does not slip when you apply pressure or work with heavy wood. (I found the plans in a "Shop Notes" magazine a couple of years ago).

The unit went together with no hitches. The fit and finish is great. Everything lined up perfectly. The back fence was set correctly at the factory to stop at 90 & 45 degrees, so no correction was needed. I installed the belt, dust chute and belt guard and went through the steps to set up the infeed and outfeed tables. The outfeed table also was already adjusted correctly and this saved a lot of time. After that I ran several soft and hardwood boards through and was very pleased with the results. The units 1 HP TEFC motor ran remarkably quiet and the cuts were very smooth. The dust collection chute also worked fine with my shop system.

I would highly recommend this unit if you are in the market for a good, easy to set up and operate 6" jointer. Happy woodworking!

4Fine little jointer
By David Swanson
I researched 6" jointers and narrowed my search to the Delta or the Jet.There's some disagreement as to the best way you adjust the tables and people have there favorite way to adjust the table and I listen to both arguments. I thought from the outset that I'd hate the lever and love the wheels. The wheels on the Jet provide more precision while the Deltas lever seems more hit or miss, perhaps like having to tap a table saw fence in order to creep up on the adjustment. When I went to try these two for myself I found the Delta to be extremely easy and smooth. Surprisingly accurate. I guess that may account for why many high-end jointers use a lever. The Jets wheels seem almost like a silly gimick in comparision. It's my personal first reaction when I tried them both, quite contrary to what I first assumed. I'm not saying there's a destinct advantage although it may seem so. It's my personal preference. Also note, that usually you leave the tables alone once you get them set.

Also, I originally liked the rack and pinion fence on the Delta. It's also higher than the Jets, but I haven't had any trouble at all with the Jet fence at all. I may have heard that the Delta fence might wear along part of the bed as you adjust it. With the Jets you have to lift it when you adjust it so you're not dragging it across the bed. That's actually a quicker action to perform. If you're joining edges you should move the fence to different positions across the cutter occasionally so you don't wear the blade in one set position. The only benefit I could see with having this rack and pinion is sneaking up on a rabbet cut. Maybe the Rack and pinion fence looks more substantial, perhaps it's more solid if memory serves me.

Then there's the switch mounted higher on the Delta which I thought was a nice feature especially since I'm tall. Rather than the low cabinet switch on the Jet which seems very low.

When I finally saved up my money to buy a jointer I planned on going with Delta by a slim margin. The Delta wasn't in stock and I was offered the Jet for $50 less plus a $50 rebate for buying the mobile base so I purchased it.

Assembly was very easy. the beds are heavy and you don't want to bang this around so it's to your advantage to get some help. Admittedly I did it all myself very carefully. The beds were perfectly aligned with one another, no twist or bows. The motor is smooth, quiet with good power and no vibration.Set up and alignments we're equally easy. My machine moved within the mobile base and I was taking only 1/16 - 1/32 cuts. It's the length of the board across the table and that downward push that can suddenly make that machine feel light when you actually use it. If I had the room or the extra money I think a nice 8" would provide enough heft as to overcome that but since I have niether here I am. If you can bolt it down permenantly that of coarse will take care of that. I've have learned to overcome this tendency on the mobile base, but it is a factor I have to be aware of when I'm joining.

Overall, I've used this machine so much now that i have wondered how I could have gone so long without it. It's been terrific. So would I haved rather purchased the Delta now? Some of the features that I once obsessed about aren't an issue once I began gaining practical experience using this machine and gained familiarity with all of its functions.I saved some money as well, so no regrets.

5Excellent machine
By cKr
Picked one up a couple months ago.Everything was right on. Assembled it according to the instructions and it cut like a dream. I tested it out with some scraps of oak I got at my wood supplier. Great finish and perfectly straight after running them through a couple times.Machine has little vibration. Not too loud. Plenty of power.Like every machine that has the typical 'fan belt', the vibration can be reduced with a link belt, along with a reduction in noise. Hearing protection is a must with any wood cutting operation, just as important as safety glasses.I went a long time without a jointer and have greatly increased the quality of my work with it. If you are looking to add a nice piece of equipment to your shop to help you produce better results, I would recommend this jointer. This machine has all the right features. First thing to do is coat the fence and table surfaces with Slip-It or a non-silicon wax. It's a night and day difference when the wood easily glides across the table and when you have to force it.For a 6" jointer it was the Jet or the Delta. For me, the Jet had the edge with the hand crank adjustment of the infeed and outfeed tables.Update: Did some rabbiting cuts with it and it worked great. Seemed alot easier and safer than using a router. Finish on the cuts was excellent. Hogged out about 1/4" in a single pass in hard maple with no problem.Hope this helped.

5Great Sledge
By Robert W. Chambers
A great sledgehammer for specialty jobs. It is deadblow, which means it:1) does not bounce after you hit something. You may be surprised the first few times you use it, expecting the usual recoil. But this sledge transfers all the energy down to the thing your bashing, and so there's no energy left to bounce back. Also, because none of the force is lost, this 11.5 pounder seems to me to work as hard as a 16 pounder.2) does not mark the thing you're hitting. Well, you have to really catch the edge to make a mark on wood. If the face of the sledge hits the target flat, then it does not leave a mark.Yes, expensive. But it seems unbreakable (I've used mine in a commercial log home building construction yard for 20+ years--so that's $7 per year, and counting).I am a log home builder, and I teach and write about log home construction (Log Construction Manual: The Ultimate Guide to Building Handcrafted Log Homes and Building Log Homes -- Box 1, Log Walls -- with Robert W. Chambers. I also make a few specialty tools, like my Chambers Scribers ChambersScriber -- Ultimate Log Home Scribers.I do not know of a substitute for this sledge -- nothing else is quite like it. And it is great tool.

5A Major Player in My Woodshop
By Matthew Schenker
I've owned this band saw for a year. Before purchasing, I researched others, including Delta, Grizzly, Ridgid, and General. I've written this review to answer the kind of questions I had when I was still shopping for a band saw!

Assembly is simple. The manual contains photos of each step, with hardware and parts clearly visible. Aligning the upper and lower wheels is no problem -- they were aligned perfectly out of the box. Installing the rip fence is also easy -- all the mounting hardware are designed for this machine.

In your daily band saw setup routine, there are five main steps: (1) Install blade; (2) Tension blade; (3) "track" blade; (4) adjust blade guard; (5) adjust guides. These are typical steps in setting up any band saw, but the Jet is easier than other 14" saws.Installing and/or removing blades on the Jet 14" is easy. The upper and lower guides loosen up, and the blade slips out through the table without a problem. When installing a new blade, it's easy to guide it into the blade guard, mount it on the two wheels, and center it. Hint: when installing a blade, make sure the teeth are pointing DOWNward. Every new band saw owner installs a band saw blade upside down once.

With your blade centered on the wheels, use the tension knob to tighten the blade to the correct level. Jet designed the tension knob so it is above the wheel cover. This sounds like a small detail, but other brands position the tension knob so you bang your knuckles against the metal as you turn it -- very annoying. There's a tension indicator showing blade width. According to the manufacturer, you can use blades from 1/8" to 3/4", but 1/2" is the widest I've used.

With the blade tensioned, adjust the "tracking" (removes any blade wobble). Jet has designed a great system for adjusting tracking. First, loosen a wing nut. Then, spin one of the wheels with your hand. As you spin the wheel, turn the tracking knob one way or another until you see that the blade stays in the center of the wheel. Then tighten the wing nut again, and you're done. This saw holds its tracking setting, even after hours of use.

The next step is to adjust the blade guard. Jet's blade guard is a step ahead of the other brands. Loosen a knob, then set the blade guard for the proper height (I set mine about 1/8" above the wood). What sets the Jet apart is that, even with the blade guard knob loosened, the blade guard stays in place if you let go of it. With the Delta, when you loosen the blade guard, it crashes down onto the table. The engineers at Jet were smart to design their blade guard differently -- it saves crushed fingers and dented wood!

Next, adjust the saw guides. Again, the Jet 14" is easier than others. The upper and lower guides are both very accessible. For both the upper and lower guides, there are side supports and a rear roller. To adjust the rear roller, loosen a wing nut, then turn a thumb screw until the guide is set, then re-tighten the wing nut. For the side supports, first position it properly frontwards and backwards, then push the block against the blade. For frontward/backward adjustment, there is a wing nut/thumb screw system; to set the blocks against the blade, loosen a couple of screws, slide the blocks, and re-tighten the screws. All of this is engineered well on the Jet, making the adjustments go quickly.

The rip fence that comes with this saw is solid and locks down securely. The design of the fence is almost like Jet's table saw fences. The fence comes with two steel rails, which bolt onto the table, one in front and one in back. The front rail has a built-in measure, and a pointer on the fence allows you to read precise inch marks. This fence is very accurate, and holds its settings, even after running several pieces through the saw. The fence comes with a re-saw feature, a "peg-style" attachment.

Ripping straight lines on this saw is a pleasant task. You read all the time about "blade drift," but if you take the time to set up this saw as described above, there's no blade drift. For cutting curves, I use a 1/8" blade and find it easy to follow my guidelines. The saw feels smooth and safe. The table on this saw is a couple of inches larger than other models -- a plus when working with bigger pieces of wood.

This saw has adequate power for everything I've cut. On 1X material, the saw cuts without bogging down, even when pushing the wood quickly. Even using inexpensive blades, the saw cuts smoothly. With Timberwolf blades, I've noticed smoother cuts.

The best test of band saw power is re-sawing. I've used the Jet 14" to re-saw up to 5" wide, using 1/2" blades. Push the wood slowly when re-sawing hardwoods such as oak. Don't try to rush this saw when re-sawing wide boards because it will bog down a bit. If I feed the wood at an even, slow pace, it's not a problem. I've used this saw to slice off 1/16" veneer, and it's performed well. Again, the blade you use makes a difference. With the right blade, very little sanding is needed.

Dust collection is, at best, decent. None of the 14" band saws I tested had adequate dust collection. The good thing is, a band saw does not produce much dust.

This saw has been a terrific addition to my woodshop. In almost every wood project I do, I have come to rely on this band saw to play a major role.

4Powerful Performance
By David Lindamood
I purchased the Jet 14" bandsaw almost a year ago, use it almost daily, and it is going strong. It is used about 80% of the time resawing walnut, cherry and exotic woods like purpleheart, yellowheart and paduak. I am very satisfied with the peformance and repeat precision of the bandsaw. I just got done resawing 1/16" walnut blanks. Resawed the blanks into 3/32", then put them thru the Performax (Jet) Drum sander, and now have a precise thin stock 1/16" walnut blank for overlays and inlays! No high or low spots, just consistant precise thickness from the bandsaw.

The setup was simple, took about 2 hours, the manual is very self explainitory and easy to follow. I would suggest having a helper available, the base is very heavy. If you think you might ever put the bandsaw on a mobile base, do it now. For later would mean doing the heavy lifting all over again. Having the bandsaw on a mobile base allows for more options in your workshop as to the positioning and placement of the tools as you as actually using them and just having them sit there waiting to be used.

Blade changes are easy, taking less than 5 minutes to reduce tension on the wheels, remove blade, insert new blade and reposition the wheel tension to the proper level. I would throw the blade that came with the bandsaw away, and use either Timberwolf of Lennox carbide tipped blades. The Lennox 3/4" blades are perfect for resawing. I have not had must luck or quality production results from the Delta blades.

There is very little vibration in the machine, the powerful 1 hp motor cuts thru the purleheart with precision.

Are there better bandsaws out there ? There sure is, but not at this price. I am very satisfied with the Jet 14" bandsaw's performance and precision!

5A Quality Band Saw for the Price range
By Ira B. Baker ll
I just purchased the JET JWBS-14CSW Band Saw and sold my 4 yr old Grizzly G1019 14" Band Saw. After using the Grizzly for 4 years I can assure you this JET band saw is in a class all by its self. The Grizzly was an ok band saw for the price, but suffers from poor craftsmanship, proper wheel balance, difficult to keep blade in track and vibration. Getting a true cut was impossible. The JET band saw was easy to set up, took about 2 hours. The manual is easy to understand. The first thing I purchased with the saw was a "Link Belt"; all my power tools have the Link Belt. During set-up I used "liquid lock-tight" on all the bolts and screws (for assembly parts only) to ensure no loose hardware down the road. After set up was complete I was truly impressed with the very low to non-existent vibration. I can turn it on and balance a nickel on edge. The quality of craftsmanship, to include wheels, tires, guides, solid base piece, large tabletop, and the fine tune adjustment knobs for all the blade adjustments make for a "TOP QUALITY" saw for the price. This is not the only JET TOOL in my wood shop; I also have the Bench Top Mortise machine and 6" Jointer. I look forward to many years of use and obtaining quality woodworking results. Thanks JET keep up the good work.........

5Best small lathe on the market
By Mitch Mitton
I have turned on every lathe from an big Oliver pattern lathes slick Euopean models and this lathe has the best set of features for the money. In lathe work quick adjustments are needed to allow you to keep your focus on the form that you are trying to produce. A tool rest moved to the right spot at the right time keeps the tool running clean and eliminates tearouts. This is also a great saftey feature. That is just what this lathe has, features that only the most expensive lathes have in one machine. This rotating head found on only a handfull of other brands was a nice touch. Just as important was the 'live center' with the proper point for wood turning. Again the abaility to keep the tail support in the proper tension as the turning progress keeps everthing running smooth, And that is what wood lathe work is all about. If you do alot of work with large chuncks of wood you will want to add a pair of runners and place some weight on them. I am close to 6 foot tall and I like a little more height so I used 2X4 lumber to gain the height. I then placed a bead of silicone calk down on the floor and stuck the runners down to offer a solid base. I have used this meathod on several 'light' machines with good results.

Just as important as stock features are the after-markets items and there are plenty that fit the Jet. Just try to find Nova chuck to fit a big Oliver!

4Jet..., Solid Again
By J. Joswick
I'm a square wood type of woodworker. I'd never put a tool to a spinning piece of lumber, but had always wanted to try. When the Jet 12" went on sale, I couldn't resist the temptation. Just like all the rest of my Jet tools, it went together in a snap, and was built the way that my table saw and jointer are.., extremely solid. Even for a novice woodturner, the machine performed well. Within minutes after set-up, I was turning, and with halfway decent results (not the machines fault, the operator was the only downfall). All of the advertised features were easy and convenient to use. When comparison shopping against Grizzly and Delta, the Jet came up on top again. Jet includes more bang for your buck.

The review got 4 stars only because I haven't had the opportunity to try any other lathes. If my girlfriend had rated it, the results would have been much worse. She hasn't seen much of me since I started making shavings on my most recent Jet purchase. Kudos Jet!

4Best Under $1000 Lathe
By Gerald Palmer
I got this lathe just in time to take advantage of the Thanksgiving Day weekend and had a blast. This is my second lathe, and it is head and shoulders above the earlier one. Solidly built and very heavy. Due to lack of space in my shop, I mounted the lathe to a large bench rather than the included stand, so I had to remove the power switch from the leg of the stand and mount it on the bench leg.

I am amazed at how smooth and quiet this lathe runs. Due to the type of turning I do, I was concerned that the slowest speed was going to be too fast, but the lathe is rock steady spinning a very unbalanced turning blank at the slow speed.

Though the instruction manual could have been clearer, setup was quick, easy, and straight forward.

If I could change anything about this lathe it would be to add a detent to the speed control between the slowest speed and the next faster one. I would also add an electromagnetic power switch for safety and place it in a more convenient location.

Oh, and I split it into two boxes for shipping. Since it was easier for me to pick it up from the freight company than to arrange a delivery time with somone home, I had them hold it at the loading dock for me to pick up. They used a pallet jack to load it onto my truck, and I had to unpack the box to unload it. I was, however, able to lift it up onto the bench alone.

4Only $... bucks
By jim difranco
First, I have read other reviews about this machine breaking and people becoming very mad about it....hello? it is $...!!!! For $... I have used the thing about 10 times already and consider it VERY useful. Yes it is plastic....but now a days what isn't? Once you get the hang of it...2nd time around, it is VERY simple. The results are more sturdy than regular lamination. If you are patient and don't make high volume laminations this is a great product. Again I am having trouoble finding replacement pouches and $... on amizon is a lot more that the discount chains sell it for.

This sterilizer is a real time saver. Long gone are the days of boiling water on the stove! We sterilize bottles, breastpump accessories and pacifiers in here all at the same time. Put 6 oz of water in the bottom and pop it in the microwave for six minutes and you're done. That easy.

5WHAT A TIME SAVER!!
By Annie R. Engstrom
I love this product, it saves me so much time. I keep a bowl of hot soapy water next to my sink and when I finish using a bottle I disassemble it and put it in the bowl. At the end of the day I rinse off all of the parts, put them in the sterilizer and zap them in the microwave! I also throw the pacifiers in as well. I would recommend this to anyone using Dr. Browns bottles who knows how long it takes to wash all of the little parts!

5Time Saver
By Beth Johnson
This bottle sterilizer is a great time saver. Zap it in the microwave for five minutes and bottles are done. I do not recommend that you use it if you have a large amount of bottles to clean, it's easier to boil them! It's great for sterilizing pacifier's too!!!

1Wrong size
By J. Musto
These were advertised as Weber 9930 grates. They are not. Weber 9930 grates are 11.75" x 17" x .5". These are 11.75" x 19.25" x .5". They will not fit any of the grills listed.

4Good, but not quite up to PCI
By S. Schwinn
These grates are pretty much everything they should be. They are heavy, durable, and reasonably easy to clean. They do tend to keep a black "char" film that I found difficult to remove. They sear well, but food tends to stick a little bit more than the Weber porcelain-coated cast iron (PCI) grates that you can get from a certain big-box store, which, except for the durability issue, I think are slightly superior to these.(These were used on a 2005 Weber Genesis grill.)

5Buyer beware, these may NOT fit your Summit grill!
By William Speer
These are very high quality, heavy duty cooking grates but they are designed for older Summit series grills only (400 and 600 series). They do not fit ALL Summit grills as advertised. Specifically, they will NOT fit late model Summit grills such as the 2005 Gold or Platinum series (these require Weber PN 41231).

5Wonderful Set!
By Brenda Clay
This Playmobil forest set is absolutely adorable. Playmobil always amazes me with the details put into their products. There are spots on the trees for the eagle, owl and squirrels to perch. We got this set along with the camping set, and it makes a great complement to it.

5Low and slow is the way to go
By A. Neilll
The Weber Smokey Mountain (WSM) is really the king of the bullet smokers. You may be tempted to go with a cheaper Brinkmann model, and if your budget just can't afford the WSM, then you can do some prefectly acceptible bbq on the brinkmann.

But if you can afford the extra for the WSM, you will get much better temperature control, and getting good temperature control means you can keep a good consistent low temeperature for doing some truly outstanding smoke cooking.

I am by no means an expert on the subject, only having used my WSM about 10 times. Even so, I have been getting results better than any ribs I have tasted at any restaurant (with the exception of real honest to goodness BBQ joints that cook over hardwood for 12 hours plus...). You can tell real barbecue because it has a pink smoke ring in the meat, which I always get when I use the WSM.

You will want to check on the net for the virtual WSM web page, it has a lot of information, and I found the info there a lot more useful than the methods recommended in the owner's manual.

This cooker is not for the impatient who want instant results, your first few times using it may be frustrating until you learn to control where the temperature is going, not where it is right now. But stick with it and you will start to make some truly great bbq. And understand that you are going to be cooking low and slow, which means it is going to take 4, 5, 6 hours or more to do ribs, but once you get the hang of it, they will be some of the best ribs you have tasted.

More than a fair number of barbecue champions use the WSM get results as good as if not better than those guys using the $1000 plus offset pits. The WSM is a great value and the perfect starter "pit" for someone thinking about getting into serious barbecue.

(You can do yourself a favor by using hickory wood chunks as part of the fuel, and real lump charcoal, not briquettes. Briquettes are nice and all, but they are filled with clay and other impurities, really if you are going to the trouble of using charcoal instead of gas, go with real charcoal if you can find it)

5Create your own slow-cooked barbecue with the WSM Cooker
By Chris Allingham
If you're in the market for your first barbecue cooker, or if you currently own an inexpensive cooker that's frustrating and difficult to use, consider purchasing the Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker (WSM).

At home in the backyard and on the barbecue competition circuit, the WSM is not the cheapest cooker on the market today, but it's quality and ease of use make it an excellent value. It benefits from the same quality construction, materials, and customer service as all Weber products, and it's superior design makes it very easy to use.

One of the keys to success in creating great barbecue is being able to control the temperature of your cooker. This is critical when cooking "low and slow" barbecue for 10 to 12 hours or longer, for example when making beef brisket or pork shoulder. This is where the WSM really shines! Unlike other cookers, you don't have to babysit the WSM to maintain a low, consistent cooking temperature. A good airtight design and a series of adjustable air vents make precise temperature control and adjustment extremely simple. You control the cooker, it doesn't control you!

Two cooking grates provide the capacity to cook up to 8 slabs of ribs, or two whole briskets, or even six whole chickens! A water pan provides a moist cooking environment for your meats, while directing heat up and around your meat for indirect cooking. A generous charcoal chamber holds many hours of fuel, as well as your favorite smoke wood chunks--like oak, hickory, apple, and cherry--to create that great smoked barbecue flavor.

Assembly is fast and easy, taking only a few minutes with a screwdriver and an adjustable wrench. The WSM also comes with an owner's manual, a premium vinyl cover, and a 10 year limited warranty.

The WSM is a fantastic product that will provide you and your family and friends with years of great barbecue. The quality will be remembered long after the price is forgotten!

5A great investment. By far the best smoker i've ever owned.
By Steven
I have only owned a couple smokers in my life, and after purchasing this one - I don't plan on owning anything else. The Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker (WSM) is a simple, yet incredibly effective water smoker. The WSM has two cooking sections which allows you to smoke a good amount of food (such as a whole turkey and a whole ham simultaneously). The 18 1/2 inch grates allow plenty of food, but you might have to get a little tricky if you want to smoke something like 8 racks of ribs. This can be done if you roll the ribs up and use a skewer to hold them in place. If you aren't trying to entertain large parties, then this is the perfect family smoker. The WSM is coated with porcelain enamel, much like the One-Touch kettle grills. The grates are triple-nickel-plated. The WSM is very sturdy. The material is nice and hefty, you don't get the sense that this smoker was cheaply made. One of the only issues I have with this smoker is the access door. Instead of being hinged it comes completely off the smoker. It can take a little bit of figiting to get it to attach to the smoker, but this is an extremely small issue. The reason people love this smoker is because with a single batch of charcoal you can smoke for an incredibly long time. If you use the minion method then you can smoke for up to 18-20 hours without adding anymore charcoal! For those who aren't aware, the minion method is where you fill the charcoal ring with unlit charcoal, light about 10-15 briquettes and place them on top of the unlit charcoal. Please don't use the minion method with pre-soaked coals. My first smoke was a brisket and for the first 5 hours it stayed exactly at 245 degrees without any adjustments! I thought my thermometer was broken... it wasn't - this smoker is incredibly efficient. Another example is the second time I smoked with this. I smoked a 10 lb brisket, started at midnight. It finished 5:00 PM the following day. That's 17 hours right there. I roused the coals a bit and was able to smoke some stuffed jalapenos for another 2 hours. That's 19 hours on a single batch of charcoal! I am very impressed. I have a Brinkman smoker and when I used that smoker I would get about 2 hours of burn time. The WSM is just so much more efficient and has MUCH better air control. Here are a couple of tips if you plan on buying a WSM (and you should!).Get a decent enough thermometer, such as a candy thermometer so you can check your temperature at the lid. This will become instrumental in your cooking.Unfortunately the WSM has a small water pan. What you should do is buy a replacement Brinkmann Smoke N Grill charcoal pan (don't get the water pan, make sure you get the charcoal pan). You can buy one directly from Brinkmann for about $13.00. If you look hard enough you can find them online for around $5.00 - $10.00. The Brinkmann charcoal pan fits perfectly inside the WSM as a water pan (some say it fits even better!). It also holds more then double the amount of water then the standard WSM water pan. This allows you about 7-8 hours of cooking before needing to refill the pan, which is much better then the 2-3 you get with the standard water pan. Once your temps stabilize you can easily do overnight cooks and also get some shut-eye!To conclude I would like to say that if you are even thinking about getting a vertical water smoker then stop looking right now. This smoker is near perfect in every single way. With a few tiny modifications you can own one of the best smokers in the world at this price!

5This is a Surefire Hit!
By Playmobil Fan
I first realized the potential for Playmobil toys when my husband and I bought our 4 year old son a single Playmobil pirate figure (the "Admiral"). We thought he would like it because he was very into pirates. We had no idea that he would spend literally hours playing with this pirate and the ten or so miniture accessories (sword, hat, feather pen, etc.) that came with it. So, we went out on a limb and paid the steep price... for this castle for our son for Christmas. I couldn't be more pleased. This castle and accessories have already given more hours of enjoyment than if we were to have spent the same amount buying several less expensive toys. I am now a HUGE playmobil fan. When you put this castle together you know that it is QUALITY workmanship and construction. Every piece snaps into place... He plays with this castle every day, and his imagination has no limits. One cautionary note, the accessories to the Playmobil toys are very small--this is for some reason very attractive to every child who comes over to play--and for this reason we have our castle and all the figures we have gotten on a "train table". This is very nice because it keeps everything in one place and it makes it very easy for my son to manuever around the castle. Another note, if you have a son who likes to really be destructive/rough with toys, you may be pulling your hair out. I find this out every time other kids come over and play with the castle. While it stays together very well, it is made so that you can pull it apart if you want to reconfigure it. (This is obviously too advanced for a younger child, so we don't do this.) That means that if the kids hit it or pull it hard it will come apart---not to shambles, but enough to give you a headache. Also, if you do want to give this gift assembled (eg Christmas morning) give yourself a good 3 hours to put it together. There are literally hundreds of pieces to the castle. I had a good time doing it but would not have had nearly as much fun if it had been 3am.

5playmobil is GREAT
By A Customer
I bought this castle for my ten year old son when he was four. He still plays with it. We have the baron battle tower, the western fort, the big pirate ship, and countless other small accessory sets. Yes, it is a delicate toy, and has to be played with carefully, somewhat like Lego sets, but the important thing is that it is probably the only toys that you buy for Christmas or birthdays, that your child will still be playing with a year later! Every winter, all of the playmobil gets set up and played with all winter long. My fifteen year old son is a "builder" and loves to put together all of this stuff. We have bought countless hotwheels, action figures, which we still buy, but playmobil and lego top them all for maintaining a childs interest and creativity. The fun part for me has always been to set up these huge sets with my boys the day after Christmas after the company has gone. Believe me, the price is worth it when it is a favorite with your child. This year my ten year old wants all the Viking stuff. Merry Christmas!

5my experience w/ playmobil castle
By M. Tucker
I purchased the large castle for my son (4 yrs. old) last Christmas. We had already owned the small castle #3888 for my 5 yr. old daughter. Yes, it took a long time to construct, but it was worth it. We combined the castles into one, and have since added many other extras. I think why my kids have had such joy with these items is because we set up the castle a couple times a week, and don't leave it out all the time. I store all the pieces in a large plastic tote, along with the people & accessories in a smaller plastic box. By making it special, and not allowing the pieces to get lost, or mixed up with other stuff, my kids are able to focus their play. Playmobil is so well constructed, the company is great. I can't say enough. It is so nice to purchase a toy for my kids that doesn't fall apart, require batteries, and makes noise for them, instead of them using their own imagination. Finally, I would agree that you should stick to the age recommendation. I can see how a child under 4 would be frustrated with this system.

This is a classic organizer. It has all the features necessary to an organizer, including Schedule, To Do, Address and Phone, and synch with a computer to backup data. It is sturdy and reliable. In this day of modem capable palms and full color MP3 PDA's this is an inexpensive vanilla organizer that gets the job done.
