=) is the only way i can truly express how i feel about this cd player. It delivers truly amazing sound quality, by far the best i've heard. I've only bought panasonic for CD Players, but getting the D-EJ1000 Was the sweetest thing to ever happen to me. I'm SOLD for sony now.

The CD Player is ULTRA-SLIM. It seriously is smaller than a jewel case (u remember, thoose black things cd's used to come in)The Remote is probally the most brilliantly thought up. The features are great and easy to use/access. I dont even look at the remote to use it, but when i do, i'm greeted by a nice backlit LCD Screen. What is also nice is the plethora of features it comes with as well as the warranty (which i do not think i will need). The charger stand just sits on my desk, and the cd player rests on it showing off to the world, taking up no space on my desk.Overall, this cd player on a scale of 1-10 is an 11. (cliche, i know) but as i said, thats the only way to express how i feel is =)

3Problem with NiCad Rechargeables
By A Customer
This isn't exactly a review since I haven't purchased one of these; but I probably would if it weren't for one thing: this unit comes with Nickel-Cadmium Rechargeable batteries rather than Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMh). The difference is that NiCad batteries have less capacity, are much less environmentally-friendly, and worst of all tend to develop a "memory" for the the last place they were discharged down to, so that the next time you use them they will only discharge again down to this level, resulting in even less capacity. The commonly recommended antidote to this is to make sure the batteries are fully discharged before you charge them back up again, but this is highly inconvenient. Its hard to understand why Sony did not choose to provide this unit instead with Nickel Metal Hydride Rechargeables.

4Excellent Printing for its Era
By Acute Observer
This is a low-cost 24-pin quiet printer designed for the home or small business that needs quality printing. It uses a push tractor for easy paper loading. There is an option to use single sheets from a sheet feeder (KX-PT12). The operator panel and software disk let you control the printer's features. It has 3 draft fonts (Micron, Elite, Pica) and 4 letter-quality fonts (Courier, Prestige, Bold PS, Script). The fonts can be in 10 different character sizes. The factory setting is to emulate the Epson LQ-850. The 11.7" carriage allows either portrait or landscape orientation for its 8" print line. All controls are accessible from the front or top of this unit. The power line cord and printer cable are not in the way of the paper path. This dot-matrix printer can print the original and up to 3 non-carbon copies. Its 14K buffer can be expanded with the 32K expansion chip (KX-P44). It uses the KX-145 black ribbon cartridge. The KX-P2023 can emulate the Epson LQ-850 or the IBM Proprinter X24E (for software programs that do not have support for this printer). There is a software program to provide drivers for Panasonic dot-matrix printers in Windows 95, 98, and Me. WIN31DMP.exe supports: KX-P1081,KX-P1123, KX-P1124, KX-P1124i, KX-P1150, KX-P1180,KX-P1624, KX-P1695, KX-P2023, KX-P2123, KX-P2124, KX-P2130/2135, KX-P2180, KX-P2624, KX-P3123, KX-P3124, KX-P3624.You can see how inkjet printers have simplified printing for users since the early 1990s. It is now as easy as dialing (or "buttoning") a telephone.

5Great product!!!
By A Customer
This is my first Mp3 player and I haven't had the chance to try other brands, so there's no way I can make a comparison between them. But I do have a good idea of what a good Mp3 player should be, and Sony has fulfilled most of my expectations.

The Sony Dcj01 was surprisingly light , it's only slightly bigger that a CD and about an inch thick. It takes about 20 to 30 secs to load Cds, it also has a 2 to 4 sec gap in between tracks. If you stop the playback, and as long as you don't remove the Cd, it will start on the exact spot were you stopped it, even if it's in the middle of a track. It plays audio Cds and Mp3 files flawlessly. I download a lot Mp3's from a lot sources, and so far, I've been able to play all of those that I've burned into Cds. It doesn't play back WMA files though, and I'm sure you've read this by now, it can't fast forward or rewind through tracks, but it does have a remote ...

Yes, this unit has a remote control. I'm not sure if the Sony D-cj01s in your area has a remote, I bought mine in the Philippines, and it had a remote with it. The remote is made of plastic, matching the silver color of the player itself, it's shaped like a thin lipstick about 2-1/2 inches long and half an inch thick. It has a one-line LCD display that is Backlit! It has all the functions of the player itself, so you can just set the player on hold, and fiddle away with the remote, it also has a small clip, so you can clip onto your shirt or your belt. The remote has a top that can be twisted. Twist clockwise and it plays, twist it again and it skips to another track, twist it in fast succession to jump through a lot of tracks, twist it counterclockwise and it starts at the beginning of the track again, twist it twice, it jumps back to the previous track, twist it a lot, and it jumps back through a lot of tracks. The top can also be pulled and twisted CW or CCW to adjust the volume control, and finally, you can stop the player by pressing the top. What this means is that you can fiddle with the player's basic functions without having to look at which button to push! It also has 5 other buttons that let you adjust the Display, Play Mode, Repeat/Enter, Sound, and Pause, and it also has a Hold switch.

What can you expect from Sony? The sound was phenomenal! There is no silent hiss, the bass felt good and heavy. Even with the volume turned way uuuuup, there was no noise distortion. All of my files have a minimum bitrate of 112 though, I don't know how it would perform with mp3's with very low bit rates. The Earbuds that came with it were pretty good, in terms of sound quality, but my ears gets sore after an hour or so... I think the earbuds were too big for me.

The G protection has two settings, so far, I've only used the first setting and it was more than enough, I've tried shaking it, jumping with it, running with it, it just won't skip!!!

The unit came with it's own rechargeable batteries, and the ac adaptor serves as it's charger, Neat! It can also use AA alkaline batteries. Sony claims up to 24 hrs. for Mp3's and I guess that's true, I've used this unit for about 13 hours, and the battery indicator is still at half.

Overall, I'm very very satisfied with this player, solid construction, nice design, high quality sound, unskippable G-protection, and a killer remote. Buy It!!!

ProsExcellent sound qualityExcellent G-protectionReads most Mp3's(I've still yet to encounter a file that it can't play back)

Rechargeable batteries includedBatteries can be charged by the unit itselfStylish and functional remote with backlight

ConsCan't fast forward or rewind through a songHas a 2 to 4 secong gap in between songs(I think most players have this)Can't read WMA files

NoteI think the Sony D-cj01s sold in Asia and Europe? has the remote and the rechargeable batteries included, while those sold in America do not. Of course I'm not sure about this, it might be better if you check it first before buying it. If this unit didn't came with a remote, I would probable give it a 3.5 star rating.

This mp3/cd player is really great in my opinion. I have put the albums i listen to most all on one cd-r and i think thats really cool. The mp3 cd's load pretty fast too.Pros:Good sound qualityFast mp3 loading timePause button!![.]Id3 tagging supportAlso, the cd starts from where you left off as long as you leave it in there, so if you have one mp3 cd that you listen to all the time, it only has to load up onceIncluded AC adaptercons:no ff or rw on mp3 tracks

5Wonderful CD Player!
By Matthew Weiler
The remote is definetly worth buying if you buy this player. The player has great sound and I lov the mp3 playback. I can fit 14 CD's onto 1! Its like having a virtual CD changer! It is really easy to use and the remote makes it even easier! It is very inexpensive and much better quality than the RIO version. It never skips. Infact, the CD completly stops when it is done reading. It stores it in its memory. The ID3 taging is great. It displays all of the CD information. I love the displays. It can be a little pricy but if money is not an option definetly get the C-DJ01 with the RM-MC11ELs remote control. If you do not want the remote, you do not need it, but it controls every single feature on the CD player so you do not have to take it out of your pocket when yuo want to change tracks. It is "nifty" as one of my friends said. I would definetly recommend it and it is worth all the money. I'd rate it 11 out of 10.

5A simple must have for SOHO network!
By MosesJoe
If you use a modem to connect to the Internet or another network at home or in a small office, throw it away and get this device. Even if you have a single PC this device can provide a nailed-up network connection that is on all the time, just like you might see at work.. There is no more clicking on a connection icon and waiting for your PC to dial and handshake. It uses a built-in modem, your POTS (regular phone line), and ISP service. You can configure it to dial-on-demand or configure a nailed-up connection that is on all the time like DSL.

Pitfalls might include that you must have a network card in you PC to use this device. It doesn't work to my knowledge with dialup online service providers like AOL, MSN and those that require you to connect with their proprietary PC software. It's best to keep, or get a local Internet Service Provider that gives you a raw Internet connection. I used mine for years before DSL became available in my area. It's a great product.

5Good for small office or home networking
By A Customer
This product has been very helpful in our office. We have 6-8 computers connected to the router (and a connected hub) on a 56k connection. It may be a bit slow at times if several people are trying to download large documents at once (which is very rare), but that certainly outweighs the hassle of having to shout across the office to see who's online and wait your turn for the modem phone line. And it outweighs the cost of having a phone line for each computer... the person that said four modems are cheaper than this router might be right, but not for long once you get four monthly phone bills!!! Also, this router has allowed us to network our office so we can share documents and printers. I recommend it!

4The fix for skipping
By V. Hoang
I've had this unit for about a year now without any problems. It was originally on a shelf with my 40lb amplifier sitting on top of it. Once I removed the 40lb amplifier away, the CDs start skipping. So I put in this tweak which I learned from an audio forum. Put 4 round glass marbles under the cd player using a small bottle cap or something to under the marbles to keep it from rolling away. This stopped the skipping.Conlusion: The skipping is due to the vibration of the unit when the CD player is spinning and the problem is amplified by unit being so lightweight. By either adding more mass to the unit like putting something heavy on top of it or isolation using the marble trick or buy one of those audiophiles component spikes or damping feet.Update: 9/24/2009.After 5 years, this CD player still works beautifully. I'm not a fan of Sony products but this player has been with me for a long time and will still be my primary CD player. I do not notice scratches on CDs like others have mentioned. If you have skipping problems please try the suggestion I mentioned above. If you have CD loading problems, make sure the CD player is leveled as this is a vertical loader not the horizontal tray type typical found in smaller players.

2Same problem(s) as the 200 Sony disc changer I gave up on.
By D. Gutierrez
Having owned 150 and 200 disc changers over the past few years, I figured the engineering problems must have been worked out by now... why else would Sony keep making them? Unfortunately, I guess that the service centers don't ever communicate to engineering.

Here's my experience with this unit... Day 1 - I dutifully loaded ~230 Cds into the carousel, careful to match the slots with my reference book I use to find my titles fast. Day 3 - The unit dropped the first CD somewhere in the back of the unit, whirr - click - chomp - carousel will not move (been here, done that), unscrew the screws, unjam the Retail purchased CD, check for damage and reload it into the unit, put all the screws back in. Deja Vu. This looks like the beginning of a terrible relationship. Day 7 - Occasional skips, sometimes the song will start to play and then just quit altogether, moving on to a different disc entirely.I respectfully utilize the CD Lens Cleaner CD although I secretly doubt that it has any real effect whatsoever. Day 10 - Same problems as Day 7 except more frequent... This is not a good sign at all. Day 12 - Troubleshooting begins, I move a disk from one slot to another to see if maybe the slot has something effect on the behavior, funny enough, the same cd will play fine if requested from a different slot!? Confusion ensues. Day 13 - Some discs just refuse to play. I tried the Power Off, rest and Power Up routine. I have made sure the player is fully leveled. A decision is made... I'll be calling for an RMA in the morning. I am sure glad that I tested the unit enough in the first 30 days, to really get to know how it will operate over time. I could have lived with the single dropped CD, but coupled with disc access problems, this will not do. Not even at this price.

The last unit I bought from a local nationwide retailer was taken in for service 3 times and returned each time with a note saying they could fine nothing wrong with it... My old 200 CD Sony unit still sits around virtually unused, I'm ashamed to sell it even though it could pass for new. I only hope I get better customer service from our trustworthy on-line merchants.

1CD Destroyer
By James Leonard
At first we were delighted with this Sony CD player, but it was not long before we determined that it was destroying our CD collection. Fortunately, we read a review on Amazon from another customer that lost many of his CD's to the same Sony unit. Over 20 of our CD's were damaged before we pinpointed the problem to the changer and replaced it with a Pioneer 200 disc changer (which we've had only two weeks but so far it appears OK). I am disappointed that Sony continues to market this defective equipment and as a result, we generally try to shop for other brands. If you value your CD collection, a Sony CD changer is likely to disappoint you.

5Hearing albums again, as they were meant to be heard...
By tvc215
I most recently decided it was time to replace my 15+ year old Bang and Olufsen cartridge. I began researching cartridges via reviews, manufacturer websites, etc., and found the task to be daunting. As it is virtually impossable to find decent customer reviews for cartridges for under $300, I felt I needed to write one, so here goes...My system; Marantz 2252B receiver (you can't beat pre-1980s Marantz for true analog sound), Mirage Omni 60 speakers, Technics SL1200 direct drive turntable.I admit that I am sort of a vinyl snob. I own tons of CDs, they're practical for the car and readily available, but I prefer the sound of a clean well cared for vinyl LP given the proper playing conditions. You might call me an audiophile who doesn't have the funding for a high end system. The Shure M97xE more than fits my budget.I have been using The Shure M97xE for about a month now, listening to approximately 1-2 LPs a night, and I am quite impressed and content with my purchase. The cartridge comes with a 'dynamic stabilizer' brush mounted on the front that can be utilized or kept in the up position. This serves to stabilize the stylus under less than perfect playing conditions. I use it at all times, because it reduces static and collects dust, resulting in less build up on the stylus. I listen to everything from Dexter Gordon to the Clash to Weather Report to Bowie. I am extremely pleased so far with my purchase. It's great to exerience nuances of records that I have never heard before. The first album I played was Joe Jackson's Night and Day, and it sounded great. I heard background passages that I did not know existed on that record. I also noticed the stereo seperation to be a bit more pronounced than on the CD version of Night and Day. Next I put on a new copy of Salt and Pepper by Sonny Stitt and Paul Gonsalves. I hear crisp highs and feel the low lows. By my estimation, the sound from high to low and througout the midrange is fairly balanced, maybe slightly bassy. I forgot how rich the vinyl sound is compared to CD. For what it's worth, it also glides through some (but not all) pop and scratches that are in some of my older pressings without picking them up. Maybe it's the stabilizer. I am tracking at 1.75.I have a discerning ear, and understand how music should sound, as far as seperation, depth, production values and so on.Okay, I have never owned a $5000 cartridge, and therefore do not have that frame of reference, but I have experienced high end analog audio systems, and can say that for me this cartridge cuts it, at least in this price range. Actually I spent far less that I thought I would have to.The MSRP is $140.

5My Share of Shures
By Armando M. Mesa
This Shure cartridge is a little blue sonic marvel in sound quality and price range ! ...Over the years, I've had my share of Shures (gamut of Shure V15 carts).Earlier Shures from the 70's in their sound performance were slightly tipped upwards in the higher frequencies, but in a not too bright fashion as opposed to the new line of SHure cartridges in recent years. Truth be told, unless you have very, very sensitive and discriminating bionic hearing, the sonic differences between those and the M97xE are minimal to almost non-existant.In fact, the V15's now command a hefty price tag due to better premium materials used in it's manufacturing over the lesser Shures. However (and this is a big HOWEVER), you are mighty lucky if you can still purchase one from a hi-fi retailer (old new stock) as Shure has stopped production on the audiophile grade and highly respected (amongst casual record listeners and vinyl purists alike) V15! There is a devout following of those who swear by the Shure cartridges'groove tracing accuracy and warm or neutral musical characteristic; It's not hype but fact ( I know from personal experience). What you hear with the Shures is music and not a cartridge! The M97xE follows in that same strong Shure reliability and musicality of craftsmanship and tradition. It's neutral-warm sounding sonics contribute to a very high degree of pleasurable music listening enjoyment over harsher and sharp or brightly sounding cartridges.I had one friend listen to my cartridge who made the following statements, "Wow, that's how music should sound like;crisp, clean, smooth and natural. Not like the harsh and flat digital sound of cd's.Dude, I wish I still held onto my turntable and record collection". It's highly remarkable characteristic is how darn well it tracks even the most difficult musical passages and fast modulations and transients in a groove! There is no harsh or grainy vocal sibilance with the Shure (no sharp or shrill "s" words). Mellow, but not coma inducing is another trademark of the M97xE which allows for lengthy periods of listening without driving you nuts or feeling like you want to pick or scratch the inside of your brain or ear canal ! The reward is that this allows you to listen to your old records with such clarity and silky ease that you will notice instruments and vocals like never before. The "mellowness" permits a lot of great detail to come through with no distortion or distraction. Surface noise is kept to such a bare minimum that I often feel this almost mimics the quietness you hear between tracks on any digital format(the Shure M97xE becomes mechanically invisible). This also largely depends on how clean your records are ( It's a great travesty to play vinyl that looks like it's been dragged through the Mojave desert sand while using this precious gem ) !This is a superb tracking cartridge to transfer your old record albums to digital cd-r format. Take great note that unlike other namebrand cartridges , the Shure plays beautifully straight out of the box and does not require drastic long hours of a "breaking in" sound period (this is always a great topic of debate in an analog audiophile forum of turntable-cartridge enthusiasts)! Some may call this a sleeper cartridge in two ways: Either you will want something with more brighter highs or boomy bass and claim the Shure has no "wow" factor (in that case, try the Audio Technica AT 440 ML linear cartridge) OR it is a sleeper because the overall sound quality is so surprisingly great in the audiophile sense and for it's "good deal" price range !The end result is that it will really boil down to your own personal sonic preference for a cartridge; Do you want a cart that is musically "involving" and has that familiar vinyl (almost bright) sounding characteristic that some prefer over a cd and associate with analog records? Then, the AT 440 ML would be a good choice over the Shure. However, the Shure is a much more excellent and accurate tracker and will allow you to listen to music for a much more longer period without getting ear fatigued. Some accuse the Shure of being musically or sonically uninvolving, maybe a little laidback. Make no mistake, that is also the beauty of the Shure---to be able to listen to the warm, natural fidelity of vinyl once again!

5Ridiculously good for the money
By R. Ballard
(Note: I'm using the Shure M97xe cartridge in the following review with a Technics SP-25 professional broadcast turntable and Alphason Opal tonearm.)As a long-time listener of vinyl, I have owned many cartridges up to $300. Signets, Shures, Ortofons, Empires, you-name-it.Overall, the Shure m97xe is the best cartridge I have ever owned. It's not as "in-your-face" as many others, and some have said it's an uninvolving cartridge. It's true that it has a relaxed sort of presentation, but that's certainly not a bad thing. This cartridge gets out of the way of the music, and is listenable for long periods with no listening fatigue. It is a shade warmer than some other carts, but the entire frequency range is all there, and totally uncolored. Very nice overall sound quality, and it's a superb tracker. One of the best things about the m97xe is it's ability to push groove wear and other noise into the background much better than any other MM cartridges I've heard. It also does remarkably well with sibilants and inner groove tracking. Formerly I had some records with spitty, harsh "S" sounds and some distortion in the inner grooves. It drove me nuts! This cartridge tracks those inner grooves (and the rest of them) with ease, and greatly tames or more often, eliminates those harsh sibilants. And even though this cartridge is a touch warmer than some others, it's certainly not lacking in treble response. Highs are extended and smooth without being harsh. The bass & mids are superbly presented, too. This cartridge is a terrific choice for any style of music, especially rock, jazz, and blues. Some other cartridges may have a slightly better depth of soundstage for classical, but even on classical music I'm confident this one would provide satisfying results. For those acquainted with the venerable and sadly discontinued V-15 line of Shure cartridges, (used by several hi-fi magazines as their reference cartridge) this one is second to only the Shure V-15MR. Shure actually recommends the M97xe as an upgrade to their V-15 type III model. The build quality of this cartridge is quite over-the-top too. It's superbly crafted, and though it doesn't really matter, the packaging is even luxurious. Most cartridges come in a cardboard box. This one comes in a nicely finished aluminum (I think) case, padded with form-fitting rubber. It also is supplied with a thorough manual and specs, mounting hardware, a screwdriver, and even an alignment protractor. Even cartridges in the several hundred dollar range don't typically come equipped like the M97xe.Bottom line: THE killer deal on a truly audiophile cartridge. A musical, highly accurate cartridge for chump change, it's quite possibly the best moving-magnet cartridge out there for under $400. Unlike costly MC cartridges, you can replace the stylus yourself, and you'll actually be able to afford a replacement stylus when the time comes. Easy on your records and your ears. Get it while you can!

2Senn E835 - muddy, congested mic
By D. Ho
There are 4 mics to consider in the $100 price category: Sennheiser e835, Shure SM58, Audix OM-2, and AKG D5. I've been doing sound for 10 years. Each has its own faults.Senn: lower midrange congestion -- like you have a cold, warm-sounding, rolled-off highs. Very muddy sounding, but will add more "body" to your sound.Shure: cold-sounding mic, highs better than Senns, some mid-range muddiness.AKG: overall nice sounding mic. Problem when you "push" the mic, i.e. sing loud. Mic feels like it has a delay in it.Audix: very nice sounding mic. No major sonic problems. Nice, extended highs. It's the shadow of the awesome OM-5 ($250+) which is faster and has even better clarity. My advice: go with the Audix OM-2, or spend $200+ for an Audix OM-5 or Senn 935. Both high-end mics sound very similar.

5As i said before
By Christopher
I also reviewed the 3 pack. I believe this is a very good microphone. I'm currently using it for podcasting and the sound quality is unmatched with similarly priced microphones of this type. The unit feels sturdy and well made. I do not feel ever like this product will ever break, and the 10 year warranty only proves that i won't be breaking this any time soon. The Sennheiser is using a much better capsule in my opinion than the shure 57 and 58... Though thats not saying much when those are both of a 50 year old design... I would certainly suggest this to a friend, But if i had the money i'd spend the extra 50 for the e935 but i simply didn't have that. But as far as this one goes its a wonderful mic.In response to the other comment saying it was.. muffled... I think that person must not have adjusted their levels ... every microphone needs some tweaking towards whatever your doing.. A small amount of eq goes a long way ;-)

5sennheiser e835 dynamic supercardoid microphone
By Jacques Lebeau
I had contemplated buying Shure Sm58's but the e835's equal the job. I use several of them in live sound settings for acoustic instruments and voice. I am very happy.

5Lexmark 4019 toner
By Stuart W. Zeiger
The 4019 printer is a work-horse laser printer that I have had for over 15 years! It is comforting to know that supplies (toner, etc.) are still available for such a solid printer. The toner arrived quickly, in good condition and with excellent instructions.

5What in the world is up with the price?
By Love's to shop
Ok, why is this seller listing this item at over $80? I bought one of these from best buy for $19.99. I can't believe someone would even thing of paying or charging that for a 1g mp3 player. This seller ought to be ashamed!!!

5Good enough
By Avid Amazon
It's very confusing to know the battery life. Sometimes, it may be confusing for the new buyer to get used to, but overall, this is a nifty, nice-looking mp3 player that gets the job done. The sync program that came with it is pretty shoddy, so I use Windows Media Player to do so.

4MP3 player small

I thought I was buying a larger mp3 player like a cd type and it came and it was so small that I gave it to my grandson instead, and he loves it and so does his classmates.
