The next lens you buy...

...Should be this one!Having recently purchased my Eos Rebel 2000, I needed a good zoom lens. Do you want a quality lens whose results speak for themself? Then this is the lens for you. The autofocus is quick and quiet and the lens is light and small enough to fit into my cramped camera bag. The perfect 2nd lens to go with your stock 28-80.

I purchased this lens from Amazon about 5 weeks ago! I had also owned the Canon version of this lens! and I recomend the Sigma over the Canon! here is why! 1st the sigma has macro capabilities where the canon does not! I belive the build of the sigma is better! the canon was only a few $$ more, but the Sigma lens gives you more for the money! including quality! The pics are Sharp and the auto focus is fast! I held the canon 70-300 and the Sigma 70-300 APO side by side and thought the Sigma was a much better lens! Hey if you don't like it, send it back!! but I am sure, Very sure that when you try it, your going to keep it!

Great Product

I ordered this for my Canon Digital Rebel, and happy to say the lens works great together with the camera. Performance and quality are very good, and the price certainly is right.I also like that you get not only the lens itself, but several accesories including a nice case - stuff that Canon charges extra for.Keep in mind - 35mm film and the electronic chip in my camera are different sizes - in my case it's 1.6x smaller - so this lens is really like 110-480mm, which I found to be too much of a zoom to use as a primary lens when walking around.Also - remember to use a high shutter speed to avoid blurriness - it's hard to hold still at such a high magnification.

What a wonderful piece of glass

To echo what is said about the new release SIGMA lenses - WOW.

Canon look out. I was shopping for a new toy for XMAS and settled on the CANON 14mm F2.8L lens. It was very nice but for the price hard to justify. I asked for an eval of the Canon and this, the Sigma alternative at 1/3rd the price. Head to head testing of the lenses on my Canon EOS 50 (ELAN) using ISO 200 film resulted in the Sigma producing a crisper image with better definition and colour saturation. Both lenses have a little "flattening" of the image at the edges as they try to compensate for curvature but the Sigma in my opinion is closer to true. Neither lens had any trouble Auto-Focusing during the day (Canon felt a little faster). The Sigma was a little unsure of itself on when I went for a night/bulb exposure of the starscape. Switched to Manual, set for infinity and away we went. My only other issue with the Sigma is the lens hood is not quite big enough where the Canon is spot on. Still you have to be looking really hard for faults to find them.

Tooling around with the lens has been lots of fun. I had never considered using the lens for indoors shots but it is magic. Architecture photography is going to be a new thing for me I think.

Mine is fine...

As another reviewer said earlier, sometimes the QA from Sigma is hit or miss. I have had the same experience in the past. The last 2 Sigmas I have tried have been fine (14 and 150 macro) My copy of this lens for Nikon is pretty nice (sharp, decent contrast if you keep light off the front element, fast accurate focus) on digital bodies. The HSM on mine is just as quiet as any of the AF-S Nikon lenses I have. I still prefer Nikon in general, but for the limited use I have for this lens, it has worked nicely.

Little heavy, but good lens.

Just got this lens as a Christams gift, and I'm really impressed with it. It's a little soft at the edges wide open, but if you stop it down a bit, you get most of the corner sharpness back. It's also a little heavier than I'm used to, and I was suprized by how large it is. Nonetheless, it's a great lens for the landscapes I like shooting.

Excellent converter.

I use this converter on my Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 HSM Nikon mount. I used it first last fall at the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta and was very impressed with the results. Aperture is reduced to f/4, which is still a bright finder, and autofocus operation is not negatively effected. All electronic functions such as HSM and D coupling still work. Very sharp from my experience.

The Perfection of "Keeping-It-Simple".

This is the most valuable and useful gadget I own. I'd be lost without it! There are hundreds of voice recorders on the market, but this one is THE BEST, because 1)It's so simple - the buttons are tactile so you don't need to look at it - ever. And there's only ONE keypress to start recording, and ONE to stop. 2) It's tiny - not much bigger than a business card. It's very thin. 3) It's durable. I've put mine through complete hell, and it works like a charm. You can drop it a thousand times. And, despite being so thin, it's still sturdy enought to not "bend" under pressure.

Sound quality is fine (for voice). Batteries last a year, even with frequent use.

And my favorite feature, for all you city-dwellers - sound quality is fine if you bring it right up to your mouth and whisper, pretending you have an itch. Which is exactly what you want to do in a public place, so people don't think you're a freak.

90 seconds goes a long way, if you speak succinctly. But if you need more, the VT300 model records 4 minutes, has a few more features, but is much thicker.

Voice It - Recorder

My husband and I own three of these. They are great for those of us who are "memory challenged." My husband is a real estate broker and he keeps one in his car to record property listing phone numbers and addresses (for lease/sale signs). I keep mine on the visor to remind myself of the things I think of while I am sitting in traffic! I also use it for my grocery/shopping lists.

I also taped the instructions on the back of mine (a previous reviewer did the same). My only dissatisfaction with mine is that the cover for the battery case kept popping off so I taped it closed. This recorder is thin and lightweight and is very easy to use.

Recommended for those with Porous Memories

With a life on the run, and a mind that runs away, I find myself always in need of a scrap of paper and a pen to jot down fleeing thoughts. "Voice It" has helped simplified my beleaguered world by giving me the quick ability to capture my retreating memories. Now, when I have a `brain burp', and need to remember that which I will undoubtable forget, I just grab this little black device, punch record, and retain that brilliant thought that will bring forth the next great invention for our generation - like "buy T.P.."

The VT90 is a solid performer, and the battery life has improved significantly over the first models. The sound quality is adequate, its playback volume (though not adjustable) is sufficient and the microphone sensitivity is appropriate. I like the layout of the buttons. They are tactical and easily felt when driving or in the dark of night. I often leave my VT90 by my bed side where I can reach pick it up and capture my last thought before sleep. I also found the "Voice It" to be a great device for recording your dreams in the middle of the night.

In the earlier models of "Voice It" the batteries were difficult to find (AAAA), expensive and last only a few weeks; now ""Voice It"" has been designed to use four lithium batteries (included) and they can last for a month or two.

I commend "Voice It" for all those with porous memories, those looking for a very small, easy to use pocket record. Recommended

This Cokin attachment creates parallel multiple images. Unlikeconventional filters, you can adjust the effect, either by rotatingthe filter holder or by shifting the filter itself. Like the CokinSuper Speed (217), the Multi-Parallel keeps part of the imageunaltered to accentuate the special effect. For best results selecthigh contrast scenes : Simple shapes, neon signs, trees silhouettedagainst the sky. Even portraits can become amusing caricatures.Through the use of double exposure, you can achieve more compleximages. First, expose a picture without the Multi-Parallel (though anyother filter may be used). Then, superimpose a second exposure on thesame film with the Multi-Parallel filter. Or you can project your oldslides on a screen (or matt drawing paper) and rephotograph themthrough various Cokin, filters. You'll be surprised at howsophisticated the effects will be.

Helpful hints: As with all Cokinfilters, make sure that wide-angle, lenses do not vignette theimage. Versatility

These binocs are very nice the fit and finish of them are great. If I was making this purchase again I would upgrade to the larger Steiner binocs. However these are nice for packing because they are considerably smaller and you don't give up a ton with them. The view you see with these is amazingly clear and at the time when I purchased them I researched every brand and felt that Steiner was the way to go. Here your getting a good deal in a little package either way you go your not going to be disappointed.

not really waterproof

These aren't waterproof. When immersed in a bowl of tap water, some water got in one side and fogged the prisms. I exchanged one pair, tried a replacement and saw the same result. Steiner's USA service center recommended another model, the 7x30 Commander XP which is rated waterproof to a depth of 10m, but I haven't tested them.The 8x30 Navigator optics are really excellent. Focus is sharp across the entire field of view, and the coating improves contrast without being obnoxious. They're fairly light and very comfortable to hold.

Sturdy, lightweight, alway clear

My wife and I cruise on a 62' ocean-going boat for most of each year. Each of us have one of these (though my model has the built in bearing indicator) and find them to be invaluable. We also have a very expensive stabilized binocular that rarely gets used. Lightweight and clear and always in focus wins the day.
