Give Your Child A Great Start!

While this doll is by no means a substitute for a year of college French, it is a great catalyst to get your young child interested in foreign language. Based on my experiences learning and teaching at the college level, I can assure you, the greatest educational gift a parent can give a child is a head-start in foreign language! Foreign language becomes harder to learn and maintain the older someone is (even middle school is too late), and these dolls are made for the age group which adopts languages the easiest. Forget Baby Mozart, if you want to give your child an edge in education, get them one of these dolls and enroll them in a language immersion school or afterschool program. If the phrases of the French doll aspiring to design clothes bothers you, why not check out the Italian doll who wants to be a soccer star, the Greek doll who has Olympic dreams or the German doll who expresses her love of animals.

Jolie Language Little

My Mom bought this for our 6 year daughter as she is starting French Club at her school. The doll is very cute although it is sometimes difficult to understand the pronounciation of the French phrases. She lists days of the week, colors, greeting phrases plus "I love you". The accompanying book is a great help! It would be nice if Jolie also included counting 1-10.

Jolie Speaks French Doll is a great toy for little girls. It has all the right cuddly appeal as a soft doll. The voice box is weak and hard to hear and there should be more pressure points to activate speech. The idea is good but the execution of the product engineering is poor. With modern communications and electronics the voice box and recorded speech should be 300% smarter. You are paying a high price for a poorly executed gimmick. Yumi: A Bi-lingual Treat

Yumi is a happy and soft little friend for my 3.5 and 4.5 yr. old children. She speaks clear English and Japanese to my children who repeat the 7 phrases and 13 words back to her. Yumi has 3 fun places to press for speaking. The wiring from her 3 speaking locations means she is not submersible. She can't be given a bath or thrown into the washer for easy cleaning. I hope Language Littles makes removable speaking units that can be purchased to match my children's increasing vocabulary. --A worthwhile purchase--

great introduction to a new language!!

The Language Little dolls are a wonderful way to learn some beginning phrases of a new language! I laugh every time they speak, these dolls are so cute!

I have 5 of these dolls - Japanese, Russian, German, Chinese, and Spanish. All of them say over 20 phrases, and each one says "I love you" when you press the knee.

The dolls also come with a booklet that shows the pronounciation of the words they are saying, which is very helpful!

My only "complaint" is that I wish the booklets also had the phrases written out in the non-English language as well. For instance, it would be neat to see the hirigana/katakana for the phrases that Yumi speaks.

Also included with the booklet is a passcode to the Language Little website, where you can learn even more. Very cool.

My favorite doll is Yumi, the Japanese-English speaking doll. This is in part because Japanese is a language I would really like to learn, and in part because she says things like "I like to play musical instruments" (I also like playing musical instruments ;)).

It is neat how the dolls all seem to have a particular theme, like music, or ballet, or soccer.

As for durability, I have had Yumi (the first doll I bought) for almost 3 years now - she still works and looks as good as when I first got her! (Keep in mind that I am over 20 years old, so I am probably treating my dolls with a bit more care than children might).

I hope you will decide to get one of these dolls, for your children, or for yourself! They are great!

I got mine for Hanukkah, I LOVE it. I've been taking japanese in school and my friend saw the doll. Yes I'm a guy, and yes I'm 21, but its awesome!!! and for any young kid learning japanese its a great doll. I think its great!

You can't go wrong with this type of toy ...

Play food - marvellous stuff. My daughters love it. They use it for tea parties, to learn fruit and vegetable name/colours/shapes. They pretend to go shopping, they love to pile everything in the basket and just carry it around. They feed fruit to their teddys and dolls and to me. There is so much you can do with play food - they use their imagination to play the game and I no longer find food missing from our fruit bowl or vegetable crisper in toy boxes!All the fruit and vegetables fit in this basket and can be easily carried around. The fruit and vegetables are made of strong plastic and have held up quite well despite being thrown, stood on, chewed and thrown in the bath. Easy to wash in warm soapy water to keep clean.

LIfe sized veggies

I was very pleased with this toy. The veggies, with the exception of the lettuce, are life sized. They are durable, realistic and colorful. My 18 mo. old daughter put them to use right away, naming the veggies and fruits and then feeding them to her doll.

I am very pleased with this product. Out of all of the pretend food that is out there, this is the best that I have seen by far.

Great Toy but a Few of the Fruits were Duds

Don't get me wrong-I LOVE THIS TOY!!! (and so does my 18M old daughter) but I did notice that a few of the fruit pieces were less durable than others. Specifically, the pear arrived to me already crushed (made from very thin plastic) and the banana seems like the next one to "deflate". But most of the fruits are made from much thicker, stronger plastic. The basket is adorable and the fruit and vegetables are very realistic looking. Even without the pear, it provides my daughter hours of fun!

Better than Starbucks espresso pods

Using the Briel Chamonix machine I purchased from Amazon, I have produced delicious lattes using these pods. The smell of the Espressione pods (regular and decaf) when opened is incredible - dark, rich roasts. FYI - the pods are produced in Italy, which is a good sign. Also, each pod has a handy paper "tab" so that you can remove it from your machine without burning your fingers. I compared these pods to Starbucks espresso pods (regular and decaf), and the Espressione are my favorite. Only one warning: 150 pods (individually wrapped) take up a lot of space, so be sure you know where you're going to store them. More good news: each box of 150 is stamped with a "best if used by" date, which in my case was 16 months after the date of purchase.

Outstanding flavor, great price!

After years of using Starbuck's decaf and regular single serving espresso pods, I finally found a substitute that's more economical and MUCH better tasting.

I've used three different brands of pods in my Starbuck's Barista machine, and have found that the quality of the pod and the flavor of the espresso inside is, by far, the best in the Espressione pods. The flavor is more full bodied and stronger than in the Starbuck's pods. I actually use one pod to make two shots of espresso, and the flavor is more intense than when I buy my specialty drinks from Starbucks or other coffee houses.

Also, the pod itself is of very high quality. Each pod is individually wrapped in an airtight, hard foil wrapper, and I've never opened a package yet that contained a torn pod with coffee spilling out. Such is not the case with other lesser brands.

The tab on each pod is also handy, making it easier to switch out a hot spent pod with a new one when making a second round of espresso.

Old World Taste-Comfort of Your Own Home

I've tried the ESPRESSIONE coffee pods in both the 100% Arabica blend and also the Espresso blend. They are sensational.

Taste is excellent along with the AROMA.

The pods are also much less expensive that we can find in stores and on line from other roasters.

Does it all!

I've been through the whole progression of sharing the cable modem at my house for 5 home PC's and my work laptop. I started with the Microsoft solution of ICS (I specifically upgraded to Windows 98 SE to get that feature). I used thinnet on my home network and it worked ok but having to have the one PC on for the rest was awkard and it was slow for the kids multiplayer games. I then moved on to a SMC 7004BR router and it was bliss. Easy setup except the printer sharing. Even there I called their support and they walked me through it. I have since stepped up to the 7008BR for two locations I manage and these are better than the 7004BR (Faster too). I cannot recommend them enough.

This Router\print server works GREAT!

This makes networking a BREEZE! I unplugged the cable modem, connected an Cat5 cable from the modem to the router, connected the computers to the router, and plugged my printer into the back of the router. Booted up the cable modem. When it was ready, booted up the router. Then booted up the computers. I set up the new printer port on each computer, and in Internet Explorer Unchecked "automatically detect network settings" That was it!! 5 computers online with 576kbs download times, all printing to one printer without all the "sharing" set up hastles!

I highly recommend this for anyone!

Fast, easy, no hassle

The unit installs easily, seems to work fine. Download speeds are just about even with my old Linksys BEFSR41, but the printer port and backup modem port are very nice additions. I'm very happy with it. My only gripe is that the only printed docs are a quick-reference card - the manual is on a CD-ROM, and I'd have preferred to get a hardcopy, too.

High Technology, Superb Build, Gracefully Styled Design

We have owned our SONY SDM-N80 for 2.5 years & we enjoy its high-level function & understated style daily. Once I decided I was going to build a computer to better position ourselves for future upgrades, I knew the monitor had to be a choice of quality, utility & form.

Sure, you can get a boxy CRT monitor for super cheap these days, taking up your space, - but an LCD is most likely the wish now, right?....No worries, LCD prices are falling!

So, helpful pushes toward SONY's SDM-N80:1. Classical, understated design which inspires!2. If you go for an LCD, make sure it's Digital (otherwise it's a bit of a waste technologically speaking) => This model offers both Analog & Digital capabilities3. Truly clutterless workspace with one-cord, break-out box4. Base has two USB ports, act as a hub for other peripherals, -clever & helps hide more cables, et cetera5. SONY picture quality6. SONY reliability (especially since we're here rating it high after 2.5 years of ownership)7. *You DO NOT want to save a little now & look at beige/black plastic framing bezels for the next some odd years! ;)

...P>One thing that's VERY nice about this LCD is the dual input option. The base break-out box has 2 video inputs (w/ USB & Audio input). The inputs are configured as one normal VGA port & one DVI port. The cable that comes with monitor is a DVI to analog converter cable so you can hook up 2 normal PCs right out of the box, - quite handy. Two PCs may be utilized at once, - switching between them with one button-press; highly convenient features.

The speakers are tiny yet sufficient, but, you're not buying an LCD monitor & comparing speaker quality. Thus, SONY includes them, plus provides jacks for upgraded audiophiles.

Video quality is excellent. The display is very high contrast & colors are rich, textured, realistic & vibrant, like SONY Trinitrons of legend. The LCD we received had no defective pixels.

The viewing angle isn't quite as broad as some, - but plenty wide.

The A/D Converter is of superb quality. On other LCD's the sharp pixel boundaries are jittery, - here, it's rock solid.

The scaling of input signals is wonderful. The LCD smoothes out scaled images, so you are treated to a very smooth picture.

Ok.Good luck to you.I'll leave you to choose with your priorities.(...my wife has been happier with my monitor choice than with my computer-building skills). ;)

I know there are better contrast ratios to be had on LCDs or bigger sizes for less dough, - but we'll be getting another SONY SDM-N80 from Amazon; 18" & superb build quality is big, better & best enough!

***Wait until you get the reactions from guests at the home office! "FOR-get-aboutit!!" You'll see Delight, Awe, Respect & then a little friendly Jealousy come into their eyes! Then, you'll know. You made the right LCD decision.

Plusses and Minuses

I've had the Cuisinart DCC-1200 for about a week now. I was hesitant to spend so much on a coffee maker but I'm happy to report it's well worth it. Sure, you can get other brands of coffee makers for under $25 if economy is the most important feature, but I've had those machines and I decided that, this time, a good cup of coffee was most important for me. This unit makes the best coffee I've had in a home or office machine and better than most coffee I've had in restaurants.This coffee tastes smooooooth! I suspect the charcoal water filter is the reason for that. I also like the "shower head" design of the water spout. The water actually runs up a track onto the underside of the lid and is sprinkled over the ground coffee like a rain shower.It's an attractive unit but it also looks like a serious coffee maker. This unit is no toy. It looks and feels solid. The carafe has a good solid feel and balance. The plastic parts (like the plastic carafe lid and handle) feel like good heavyweight plastic and are well molded. It's not the lightweight crappy plastic that cracks and discolors easily in the cheap coffee makers.I like the 5 beeps when the coffee is ready. Now I can leave the kitchen and go clean or whatever and I don't have to keep running back to see if I can get a cup yet. I can hear the beeps. But if I really can't wait and want a cup in mid-brew, I can just remove the pot and pour a cup - you've got a full 30 seconds to reinsert the pot, before you risk an overflowing filter.I like the permanent gold-tone filter too. I always thought paper filters were a pain. They'd fold over sometimes and there'd be grounds in my coffee. But you can use paper filters in this machine if you want to. I just prefer the convenience of the gold-tone filter (top rack machine washable too).It has an indicator light for cleaning -- it says it's "self-cleaning" but really it's just a light telling you when you need to pour in a pot of water/vinegar and run it through to decalcify the unit. (I never thought to do that with my other units. Probably another reason my coffee wasn't as good as I wanted it to be.)The low-medium-high setting on the hot plate is pretty nice too. And the auto-shutoff feature is great. I don't have to worry about forgetting to turn the machine off.The instruction booklet is very good and very thorough. Comes with a parts reordering form too.What don't I like about this machine? It requires maintenance in that you have to change the charcoal filters. But actually I don't mind since I think they are the reason the coffee tastes so smooth, and they are very easy to change and not expensive [...]Also, the area in the top of the machine where you pour in the water is narrow but again this is just a minor inconvenience. Just have to pour a little carefully.So really it's almost all positives with a couple of very minor negatives. I highly recommend this coffee maker.

Fantastic coffeemaker - if you have the space

When my Braun FlavorSelect coffee maker unexpectedly stopped working, I had to scramble to find a new machine. I wanted another Braun, but unfortunately, they seem to have stopped making a 12 cup coffee maker. So I had to begin an intense search for a machine that had the features I wanted combined with good value. I finally found it with this Cuisinart model.The advantages? For one, it makes excellent and HOT coffee. The carafe is solidly constructed and fits securely in square body so there's no chance of someone accidentally knocking it loose. Because the lid fits tightly, the pour is precisely narrow and smooth, with no side leaks even when the pot is full. The basket fits inside the housing instead of swinging free like so many models which prevents a misalignment between the water and the filter; the conical (Krups/Braun style) basket accepts both paper filters and gold-tone, although I learned the hard way that not all gold filters fit. The timer is very easy to program, as is the clock. The carafe warmer can be set at low, medium, or high for the temperature that's right for you. I found the "high" setting too hot since I drink my coffee black (I like my coffee hot but not scalding!), but those who add a lot of milk might appreciate it. The brewing is quick and efficient, with the process taking about a minute a cup, maybe less. The retro/stainless look complements most modern kitchen décors. There's a 1-4 cup setting to make sure such small amounts stay hot, and you can select how long the warmer remains on. The pot beeps five times when brewing is complete and just before the warming plate shuts off. Parts are top rack dishwasher safe. It comes with a water filter system designed to improve the taste of the brew.But the Cuisinart does have disadvantages. The water reservoir is located on the right side, in the back, which makes it a little challenging for lefties like me to dump the final bit of water inside even though the carafe pours very accurately. Although I haven't yet missed the opening, I do struggle briefly with those last few drops unless I use my right hand. The housing is fairly tall, so if your counter space is only under the cabinets, you may not be able to lift the top in its entirety. (This is when the small rear reservoir becomes a major issue as you have to have room to completely lift the rather large top toward the back.) Clearance required: 7.5" wide by 8.5" deep of counter space with no overhead obstruction to pull out for filling OR 21.5" of overhead space to fully lift top. Without the top open, the coffee maker measures 7.5"w x 8.5"d x 14.25"h.If you have the space for this coffee maker, you'll love it. I can't attest to how long it will last, but, as it comes with a three year warranty, I'm hoping for a good run.

Finally Found It!

After purchasing 3 other coffee makers, the 4th one is the charm! This coffee maker makes great tasting coffee. I never knew there was a difference -- it's worth spending a few more dollars on. It also has all of the features I was looking for such as: adjustable warming plate, 1-4 cup selection, water filter, programmable. It is a rather tall machine, but certainly not a problem as it fits fine underneathe most cabinets. Als, the carafe is well-made and has a spout that pours nicely without spilling. No complaints about this one!
