5If you buy only one pan, make it this one
By A Customer
Yeah, yeah, it's expensive. Sure, sure, you could get a whole set of substandard pans. But you can't 'go cheap' on a saute pan. If you do, you'll burn stuff, and generally be an unhappy cook, so that's why you need a nice heavy one. I've got loads of cookware, but this is the most used item in my kitchen. Along with a good chef's knife and one saucepan, and maybe one to boil pasta, you'd be set. All Clad is a superior cookware to other brands, and I've tried or tested all of them. It's got a lifetime guarantee, so if you space the cost of the pan over, say, 20 years, it's a great value. You'll go through six other cheap pans in the same time period. Spend the cash, go All Clad.

5Excellent Saute Pan! Love it!
By Mrs. Romano
To be honest if this pan didn't come in the set I bought I probably would not have it. Thank goodness it did because it turns out that I love it. It is great for sauted spinach, veal or chicken picatta, you will find you more uses for this pan everytime you open the cabinet. It heats evenly and is very easy to clean. As all All Clad is, this pan is excellent quality and very well made. I have just about every All Clad item made and love them all. Well worth the money and designed to last a lifetime. It also comes with a lifetime warranty. How can you go wrong?

Also, if you should get something stuck to the stainless steel use a product called "Bar Keepers Friend" to clean it. Most supermarkets have it and Kitchen Etc. and Bed, Bath and Beyond carry it too. The container (like a Comet can) is gold with blue and white writing. All Clad recommends it for cleaning stainless steel and it works like a dream and is very inexpensive.

5Open the Windows, Turn on the Vent and Turn Up the Heat!
By MICHAEL ACUNA
I was a dyed in the wool Calphalon, Non Stick fan until very recently when I was asked to baby-sit a friend whose husband had gone on a Golfing vacation to Hawaii. These friends are as set against Calphalon as I am for it: they are All-Clad fans. It was going to be a Calphalon versus All-Clad contest...and I was ready for it.Well, for the ten days I stayed at their home I was forced to use their All-Clad pans and I, against my better judgement, fell in love with them.Looking at all that naked Stainless Steel scared me a bit but I turned the heat on high and had a helluva time saute-ing thick Beef ribeye Steaks, Turkey Burgers, Salmon Steaks and even Tuna Burgers and never once did I have a problem with sticking nor with the clean up.One of the major errors most home cooks make is that they are afraid to turn their burners up and cook with high heat. I guess they're afraid of setting the kitchen on fire or scaring their dogs and cats with all the luscious smoke and sizzling oil.But browning quickly on high heat preserves the meats natural juices by sealing them in. An added bonus is that you can de-glaze the pan with wine or broth and have a nice sauce to accompany your meat or fish or to top your roasted or mashed potatoes.Anyway, I was so impressed with this 3 quart saute pan that I bought one for myself. And though it looks a little out of place among all the black Calphalon, it does gleam and shine and makes me smile everytime walk by it.

5Great For Soup
By NuJoi
This pot is the perfect size for a standard soup recipe. I have the Dutch oven and the 6-qt stock pot as well, but I still wanted this pot. I have not been disappointed. I like the taller shape; it jut feels more like a soup pot to me (I understand this is completely subjective.)All-Clad Stainless is my favorite line of cookware. The clad technology means even heat conduction and it works on induction cookware. An extra bonus for me is the easy clean up -- throw it in the dishwasher. Whne necesary, polish with a Bar Keeper's Friend and it will look like new forever. If you are choosing between this and a Dutch oven, go with the Dutch oven because the shape is more versatile. This pot is not a must-have, but a great have if you make a lot of soup and are looking for an addition to your All-Clad set.

5Great size for everyday use
By uselenses
About 10 years ago I got a large All-Clad set with the 8 quart, 3 quart, and 1 quart pots plus some frying pans, steamer, etc. I often found that the 3 quart was just a little too small and the 8 quart was often times far too large. If I had two dishes to make that required a similar size pot I was out of luck. Before Thanksgiving this year I finally gave in and bought this pot. So far since I've had it I've been using it for just about everything. It's a fantastic size - still not too large - fits nicely on a burner but has nice tall sides which are great for anything that would have splashed out of my 3 quart. Obviously there are some downsides. It doesn't have a curled rim for pouring and obviously with two handles it is harder to pour liquid out using the lid to stop the contents from falling out. But if you use an oven mit or rag you're all set. Great size and great quality as always. Very happy with my purchase. I don't know how I lived without it for so long. Now I should not need any more pots and pans in the future.

5Just right
By Keith W. Truax
Top notch quality and finish. Heats quickly and evenly.4qt. size is a nice filler between sauce pans and stock pots. The two short handles make it easier to manage than a long single one. Couldn't be happier.

5All-Clad Stainless-Steel 3-Quart Casserole
By L. Aaron
I bought this 3-quart All-Clad stainless-steel casserole specifically for use as a rice cooker. For me, it has been an excellent rice cooker. I prepare three quarts of rice each time, once each week, using a 1-to-3 ratio of medium-grain brown rice and medium-grain white rice. I have followed this routine for six years, and every batch of rice was perfect. Cleaning the sticky rice residue from the casserole requires the use of hot water and a fair amount of scrubbing, with detergent and a stiff-bristled brush. After six years of use, this casserole still looks as pristine as it did when I received it.I also used this casserole for making soup, a couple of times. Once, I used it for cooking dried beans. After seeing how well these other foods cooked, I expect to cook them more often. These are comfort foods, and they are generally inexpensive (and quite appropriate for the current national economic downturn). From a purely economic perspective, the current price of this casserole might be difficult to justify. On the one hand, it is possible to purchase a rice cooker for less than half of the price of this casserole. On the other hand, this casserole offers greater cooking versatility than a rice cooker. Another plus, is that its magnetic-steel exterior layer makes it suitable for cooking directly on induction burners (likely the preferred cooking heat source, for the next several decades). Here is a final note. Despite All-Clad's claims to the contrary, the two loop handles and the lid's handle will become very warm (hot), after 32 minutes of cooking rice. Before moving the heated casserole or its lid, always use pot holders or test the heat of the handles with a quick finger touch (ouch!).

4Wife likes it
By K. Edgington
The title says it all. My wife likes it and that is what's important. I feel that All-Clad makes good cookware and their copper core series is by far their best, but the Stainless series is good too. The stainless series is also about half the price of the copper core, making it a great choice for those of us who can't afford the copper core series. Honestly though, an expensive pot will not make you a better cook, just like owning a Mercedes will not make you a better driver. This is a piece of cookware for the cooking enthusiast. I would recommend this product, or any of All-Clad's products, for those people who would like their cookware to last a lifetime.

5I love this pan!
By M. S. Tedor
I'm a SAHM and I cook for my family 2-3 times a day. I love to cook but I don't have nice things to cook with in my kitchen and my pots and pans are cheap, non-stick kind. Lately I've been serious with my cooking because my husband likes to eat and is enthusiastic about the dishes I feed him, and I aim to please. I need to get a new pot and I figured I'd just get the best cookware I could afford as I'm sure I would be cooking for the rest of my life. I decided to buy the All-Clad 3-Quart Casserole after much research, reading tons of reviews and finding where I could buy it the cheapest. I did not buy it from Amazon because there was a sale at MetroKitchen. We don't have much money to spend on frivolous items but this pot is probably one of the best purchases/investment I've spent out of our meager budget. When it arrived, I attacked the box and opened it immediately. It was in a nice little white All-Clad box, wrapped in a black bag, very shiny and beautiful. I love it at first sight. Since I got it, I've been using it everyday. The 3-quart is the perfect size for us (there is just me, my husband and a 3-year old little girl). I use it to cook soups, rice, stews and I even fry in it. It gets used a lot and has never seen the inside of a storage cabinet. Nothing sticks to it and very easy to clean. A quick swipe of Bar Keeper's Friend will make it as good as new.If you see yourself cooking for your family, like, forever, I would suggest getting an All-Clad because it will be your cooking partner as long as you need it. It is thick, has a substantial weight to it and feels really good quality. It is expensive but I feel happy cooking with my All-Clad - and you can't buy that feeling. I'm certain it improves my cooking a lot because there is a joy in cooking with a pot/cookware you love. I smile every time I pass by it in my little kitchen. If you're reading this review because you need a reassurance that you'll make a wise purchase, don't hesitate because I'm positive you will love this 3-Quart casserole or anything that is from All-Clad. I'm scraping enough to buy my next piece from All-Clad! :)

5A fabulous, all around ktichen workhorse
By E. Haynes
I couldn't decide: the 3 quart saute, sauce, or saucier.Tradition said to stick with the saute. But I knew that I needed something with higher sides.A 3 quart saucepan? Who was I kidding? That's a monster. So, feeling like Goldilocks, I finally hit my "just right" option, the saucier. This is not a pan that is well known, but what's not to love? The high sides and beveled inside curve mean you can reduce and whisk and sauce to your heart's content without sticking. The large surface area of the bottom plate means you can saute and sear without worry of space constraints. And I haven't even mentioned how evenly it conducts heat, its well-balanced heft, or striking beauty on my pot rack. This pan does it all. Break with tradition as I did, and you'll use it almost daily just as I do.

5All-Clad Stainless 2-Quart Saucier Pan - Great Pan! A+
By Mrs. Romano
This 2 quart saucier is one of my favorite All Clad pans. This is actually the first All Clad pan I bought and I was so happy with it that I now have almost the whole line of All Clad cookware. I love this size for making rice pilaf; it is wider and has lower sides than a saucepan, which I prefer for simmering rice. It is also a great size for one or two boil in the bag veggies or simmering soup for one or two. It is made very well, is easy to clean, heats evenly and is designed to last. All Clad cookware is one of the most expensive lines around and it is worth every penny, it really is lifetime cookware (with a lifetime warranty to prove it). This saucier is a definite must have, it is a very versatile size and is a nice pan to start with. Very, very highly recommended! A+++!

The curved sides of this pan make it the perfect saucier, and when you're constantly whisking a sauce (such as a bechamel) you couldn't ask for anything better. The All-Clad reputation says it all - top of the line.

4Nice but the loop handle interferes with the steamer insert
By A Customer
All clad pans are great, with one caveat. This line doesn't have a rolled lip so that pouring is more difficult than it should be. Of course with a 4qt pan that usually isn't an issue.

If you are strong enough to lift a 4qt pan by the long handle don't get this version, get the one without the lip. Why? Because the loop handle prevents both the steamer and the double boiler inserts from seating firmly. They work, but it isn't as good as the non loop version. Now admitly using a 4qt pan for steaming is overkill, but if the 3qt version is in use, or you didn't buy that one too, you will wish you had the non loop version.

These pans are heavy, (Although not as heavy as pure copper pans)and a gallon of fluid is too, so that if you are small the extra loop would be beneficial for moving the pot from stove to sink, so like everything its a tradeoff.

5Attractive, Heats Evenly, and the Loop Handle Is Indispensable.
By mirasreviews
I owned a 3 ½-quart Calphalon Anodized Aluminum saucepan for about 12 years and had to get rid of it, because acidic foods had eaten away at the anodized surface, exposing shiny, softer aluminum underneath. So aluminum was getting in my food. I replaced that pot with the All-Clad 4-quart, because America's Test Kitchen rated the Calphalon Anodized and the All-Clad Stainless saucepans equally highly in heating up quickly and sautéing evenly without burning. The All-Clad has an aluminum core between layers of steel to distribute heat evenly. The exterior layer is magnetic stainless. The interior of the pot is 18/10 stainless. This All-Clad pot doesn't impress me as being as indestructible as the Calphalon, and it isn't as heavy. But it has the advantages of a stay-cool handle and stainless surface that won't shed into my food. The loop handle doesn't stay cool, because it's short, but the long handle does. I can't get by without loop handles on my medium and large pots, so I was more than willing to pay extra for it. This pot weighs about 3 ½ pounds empty, but it weighs 10 pounds full of liquid. If you are small or suffer from arthritis or stress-injured wrists, the loop handle will save your wrists and enable you to pick up the pot when you otherwise could not. And no struggles to balance the pot or danger of tipping! The pot's shiny steel surface is attractive, but it limits your options in cleaning products. All-Clad recommends a fine powder cleanser, nylon scrubbing pad, or a commercial stainless steel cleanser. I find that Soft Scrub works well. Steel wool will scratch terribly and ruin the surface, so don't try that. One thing I don't like about stainless steel pans is that they get a blue and/or brown discoloration in the bottom if they overheat. The interior of this pot turned bluish just from boiling vegetables in water, but that disappeared after a few washings. I guess there's no such thing as a perfect pot. Every metal -aluminum, steel, or copper- has its idiosyncrasies. But I'm generally pleased with the All-Clad's performance.

5This thing is EXACTLY 4 quarts
By Andrew
This thing is great. Be careful though. This thing is cold rolled. That means that the steel isn't quenched and tempered after it's been made into a saucepan as my understanding of cold rolling. And you can't temper this thing anyway since it's mostly solid aluminum bonded to stainless steel. I'm sure the two metals would just come apart due to their different rates of expansion.I dropped in the sink a week after I got it and now there are two dents in them. They drive me crazy, but what are you going to do. I'm pretty sure All-Clad's lifetime warranty doesn't cover accidental abuse.Beware. This saucepan is EXACTLY 4 quarts. I measured. Exactly 16 cups of water. That means that you'll never actually be able to cook 4 quarts of stuff in it because it'll boil over. This saucepan measures 3 quarts at the bottom of the clads. That means if you fill the saucepan to the bottom of the clads on the inside of the pan, you'll have 3 quarts of stuff roughly. So keep that in mind when you're choosing a size. I thought this thing was too big for me originally because I only really wanted to cook 3 quarts of stuff, but the store I went to didn't have a 3 quart one so I got this instead. It turned out to be quite fortuitous since I ended up getting what I wanted. I didn't think about how a 3 quart pan wouldn't be able to cook 3 quarts of stuff. So if you get a 4 quart saucepan, you'll have about 3 quarts of cooking capacity and if you get a 3 quart saucepan you'll have about 2 quarts of cooking capacity and so on. Keep that in mind when you choose the pan that's right for you.
