4Really needs a seatbelt
By Angela Li
My husband and I really loved this toy, especially the functionality of the removable handle, so we took our son to the local Toys R' Us to try it out. My son absolutely loved it, but he kept sliding down in the seat and trying to climb out. We looked at a few other competitor's models and found them to have safety belts, which made them preferable. We cannot understand why a company as large as Little Tykes that specializes in children's toys does not comprehend the need for a safety belt on their ride on toys! Anyway, we read one of the reviews on this toy where a woman ordered a replacement belt for the toddler high back swing from the Little Tykes website and drilled and cut holes in this car and added this seat belt to make it safer. Well, we found a better way of installing a seat belt. A competitor, Step 2, has a product called the "Push Around Buggy" which has a seat belt that screws into the car. I went to their website and called their phone number and ordered a replacement belt for their item, which only costs around $2.50! What a deal! Well, all you have to do is screw the seat belt straps into each side of the car and viola', you have a safer version of the Little Tykes Cozy Push and Ride Car. We sincerely hope Little Tykes will catch on to parent's concerns about the safety of their little ones and make sure all of their ride on toys are equipped with a safety belt!

3Not for very long walks
By MidwestMom
I bought this toy as an alternative to my stroller for taking walks around the neighborhood. My son (I bought this for him at 17 months) would get bored in the stroller, so I thought this would be fun. Well, he does really like this car, but there are some issues with it. First, there is no safety belt, so your child can attempt to stand whenever the desire moves them. Second, when pushing him on cement it is extremely loud (my husband wanted me to stop using it for this reason alone--I cannot overemphasize how loud this thing is! We were concerned with hearing loss). Last, although there is a cup holder on the inside for baby, it would be nice to have some type of holder on the exterior for the parents--to hold a beverage, or keys or something. If the wheels were redesigned to make this toy quieter, an exterior cup holder added, and especially a safety belt added I would give this 5 stars. For now, I give it 3.

5Great gift
By A Customer
We purchased this for our daughter's first birthday .... construction of it was difficult as the pictures are hard to ascertain what goes where at times.

Have to say, my daughter loves the toy .... We love the "grow with me" option as when she is ready to Flintstone around she can. Also like the cup holder inside the car .. very modern!

Durability of this is low ... we put it together and rode her around the house and a tire "blew out" ... each tire has holes, but one had a much larger hole than the others after going around on the ceramic tile once .... Because of the hole, the tire now gets caught up and does not work properly, so we are having to purchase replacements 1 week after the party.

But, to hear her giggle when she is in the car ... it is worth it.

4Excellent speakerphone, puzzling design
By A Customer
Among the handset speakerphones available, this has the best sound quality and range I've come across. I get a loud clicking sound from my wifi system, but it doesn't seem to bother the person on the other end.

The 4200/4215 setup is very handy to use. A much cleaner look than my old setup with a GE wireless phone jack and Panasonic cordless phone. Now I'm down to just one AC plug and a very sleek looking base for the 4200, which matches my off white walls perfectly. The 4200 can be wall mounted in the vertical position, which looks sharp and is very handy for accessing the speakerphone and remote answering machine functions. Why Siemens did not allow the 4215 base unit to be wall mounted, I just can't figure out. At least I can wall mount the 4200 in the kitchen and listen to messages remotely.

The biggest drawback to this phone is the nonsensical cell-phone-like interface. It doesn't bother me much, but a potential buyer should check it out. For example, to raise the volume on the earpiece, you have to take the phone away from your ear, scroll through the menu, adjust the volume, then cancel out of the menu screens. I just keep it on "high" at all times, but all users might not like doing this. Another example is the 2 second delay between pressing a number button and hearing a tone. This is very confusing, as the sound delay causes me to misdial, and I don't know whether I have misdialed a number until I see the number on the LCD screen.

Overall though, it does a good job at what was most important to me: using the handset speakerphone and having a phone where I had no phone jack.

4Excellent quality. You buy this one for the speaker phone!
By Soggy
Great phone. The speaker phone works great! People do not know I have them on speaker phone, unless I am typing at my keyboard. Programable names/numbers works great. I find the answering machine quality to be just fine. Range is good. I have roamed a ways from the house. I like the time and date right there on the phone. I always carry it around the house. The batteries that come with are no good, but if you buy some NM-Hi rechargables, they seem to last for days. Love this phone, I just need one more for the bedroom. The voice announce of the incoming caller is excellent.

I would give 5 stars, but the response time when you push the keys is anoying sometimes.

Great product. The manual I a bit tedious, but the product is great. Picture is good and features are nothing more special than you would find if you bought a separate VCR and DVD player, but I love having them both in one machine.

5FRS-1000 Review. It's a keeper!
By A Customer
I just purchased the FRS-1000 Base station and I have to say I'm very pleased. It works fine with my BellSouth FRS Hand Held units. The station is small and compact, no larger than a standard intercom. The manual is a bit hard to figure out some of the functions but if you play with it, you'll get the hang of all it can do. One function I especially love is it's ability to scan all 14 FRS channels, so I can monitor all channels for incoming signals. It also has a function whereby you can monitor two channels at once, if you have people using two different channels, you can hear conversations on both.

The NOAA weather function is a no-brainer, just press the button and you have instant weather information access. The unit also features a "Roger Beep", this is a short beep that is attached to the end of every transmission. (It can be turned off) I like it because it distinguishes when a transmission is coming from the base station. My hand held units do not have this beep so any transmission from base is clearly identified by this sound.

You can also sellect from 4 different "Call Tones". This allows you to define the type of call signal the unit emitts when signaling other units. If you have more than one base station this would be handy to differentiate them. When they say "Two mile range" their not kidding, the unit belts out enough power to talk and listen somewhat beyond that. (a friend and I tested it, he on a bike with a hand held and me on the base!) This unit could have many uses, I use it for camping and keeping up with friends hiking. It could be used in a factory too, or as a way to keep track of neighborhood kids. In fact, as I scan channels I often hear the neighborhood kids playing and talking. And with it's range, I hear other neighborhoods too. I must admit it's fun to listen in on their play. Plus during the day I can hear workers who use FRS to talk to each other. FRS is not as crowded as CB bandwiths, it's easy to find a clear quiet channel to use if you don't want distractions. If you're looking for a unit to use for work or in a factory, I'd recommend you pick an odd channel like "3" or "6". Most units default to channel "1" when turned on and this is the channel that you'll hear the most chatter from the neighborhood. The FRS-1000 is a great buy, it comes with rechargable batteries and they charge while the unit is on and plugged up with the supplied adapter. So you can use it portable or plugged in. It has a tall antenna that will swivel up or down depending on if you have it mounted on a wall or sitting on a table. The screen is backlit so you can easily read the display and you'll get used to the various display icons in no time. Look for other units like this to hit the market soon as FRS becomes more popular, this is really the way to go.

4The "BEST" base station for FRS
By Randy A. Hefner
I have several of these fantastic radios! It has everything I look for in a base station FRS radio. The Audiovox FRS1000 comes with all the necessary features for FRS radios. 14-Channels, 38 CTCSS tones, speaker/mic connection, weather reception, VOX, call tones, etc.The FRS1000 has the speaker/mic connection that is most useful. It is compatible with standard Radio Shack/Icom speaker/mics which means you will be able to find one easily and it will not cost you a fortune. Most people don't use speaker/mics, but with this unit, you can use it in your car and with a speaker/mic, it is extremely useful.Powering the unit is done in several ways. First, the radio comes with a 12-volt power transformer that you plug into the wall. Not only does it power the unit, but it also charges the rechargable NiMH batteies (included) stored in the back of the radio. HOT TIP!!! This is VERY important...Before you use the radio, charge the batteries for at least 24-hours. If you try to use the radio when the batteries are completely drained, the transformer will not have enough power. It makes the radio "seem" non-functioning, but you will find if you follow my advice, everything will be fine. Also, if you use alkaline batteries, make SURE!!!! you switch the charging option to "alkaline", otherwise, you may FRY the batteries. BTW...Pickup a 12-volt "cigarette lighter" plug from Radio Shack and you can power it in the car. I would recommend that you turn the battery charging option "off" when using the cigarette lighter plug...I don't know for sure if it will damage that rechargable batteries (I suspect not), but why take the chance.A wonderful feature of this radio is the weather channel reception. It picks-up all major weather channels in your area and will even alert you when a warning is sent out. This even works when you are using the FRS radio.Of course, there is a scan feature. It scans all 14-channels. It doesn't display the CTCSS tone used during scan like the GE 38540 radios does (see my review of that radio), but most FRS radios don't do this either, so I will not deduct points for that. One thing I will deduct a point for (this is why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5) is that the VOX does not work well. I suspect that it doesn't work well on all of the FRS1000 radios because I have 5 and it works the same on all 5...Poorly!All-in-all, it is a fantastic bargain if you want a base station or even a mobile FRS radio. Only fault I can see is the VOX problem I listed above. Go ahead and try one...You won't be sorry.

3Good when cheap, not good to use more than a year
By Kriston Rehberg
I bought one of these about three years ago and bought two others when they were discontinued about two years ago. I'm surprised to see these still in stock, so perhaps the new batch is different from the one I'm reviewing. The push-to-talk button will wear out after about a year of daily use. The buttons wear out in the strangest of ways. It appears to transmit but doesn't transmit the subcode unless you really press the button down. Not sure what was going on there.I highly recommend the GMRS version of this base station. It's much better and has a "bonus" removable portable radio. We're replacing the FRS1000 with the new version as their push-to-talk buttons break. The battery life is very decent on the FRS1000--it lasts two days which is excellent for any FRS with subcodes turned on.The configuration sequence is horribly confusing and the icons don't seem to represent anything in real life, so the manual should be kept close by.We are in a rather noisy environment, RF-wise, so passing aircraft and vehicles with business radios will cause the unit to break squelch and emit a loud 1/2-second long blast of static and white noise. This happens even if you set the subcodes. Some ranges of subcodes false break squelch more often than others.Transmitting audio is accompanied by an AC hum. The newer GMRS version has a quieter hum but it's still there. The power supply appears to be the culprit, as I have used ferrite cores to try and clean up the interference a bit and it doesn't have much affect. If it's cheap, like twenty-five dollars, grab it. FRS base stations are very rare products that are much more useful than the basic home intercom system.**EDIT** In 2010, it still works great. I use in the basement where the spurious transmissions cannot break the squelch, but it still works for in-home intercom use.

4Nice product
By A Customer
This product has been working fine since I purchased it a few months ago. It comes with a plastic holder which can only hold one sd card at a time (others can hold 4) I think some of the other brands may hold a bigger bang for the buck, since I think the qualities are similar. I kinda wished I had purchased more than 32MB card. It is quite annoying switching in between cards.

5Nice CD Player with AM/FM Stereo tuner.
By Bill
I bought this unit for my wife for Christmas and have found it to be an overall excellent unit thus far. It has excellent non fatiguing sound. That is it does not have sizzling over emphazised highs nor heavy boomy bass. If you want that, look elsewhere. The sound is well balanced. The two bass boost settings do come in handy at certain times when they do actually enhance the sound to make it sound better without over-doing it and causing listener fatigue. The AM/FM Stereo tuner reception is very good. It is as good as my top of the line Sony cassette AM/FM Stereo walkman unit from a few years ago. And I thought that Sony walkman was excellent. So this Aiwa tuner is just as good in reception of signals but this Aiwa sounds better IMO, more neutral (less sizzly highs)than my Sony walkman.

This unit had the "scratchy, noisey" headphone jack problem that I read about on other AIWA models. But I found out how to cure (fix) that problem! Simply insert the headphone plug into the jack and turn it around 360 degrees inside the jack a few times to scrape all of the electrical contacts clean. Apparently the headphone jacks in these units have a slight coating of dirty oxidation on them. This is a minor concern and is fixed by doing what I suggested above. Try it if you have this problem and it will clean it up! The scratchy noise has not returned on my unit and the cnnection is totally reliable now.

With that, I find this unit worth every penny I spent for it and rate it excellent for sound quality.

5Satisfied customer
By A Customer
This is the first portable CD player I have bought, so I don't have much to compare it to, but I am very satisfied with this unit. One thing I like about it the most is the battery charging capability. Just buy a couple of rechargable AA batteries and plug the AC adapter into it and it will recharge the batteries for you. This saves the hastle of taking the batteries out, putting them in a recharger and them putting them back in. The only complaint I have is that everytime you turn the unit off, the extra bass I like is reset and I have to put it back the way I like everytime I turn it on. It would be nice if it saved this setting. Another thing I would like to see come with this is a belt clip so that you don't have to carry it by hand. Other than these two things, it works great.

5Great Cd player
By A Customer
i was looking forward to a panasonic. that is pretty much all i have ever had but i did not have the money so i decided to try something new and boy am i glad. The reception on the radio is great and i live in the country. My old panasonic am fm player got 2 stations, this gets like 15 and it does not skip much. Another great feature is the E.A.S.S. and how you can choose 48 second shock protection 12 second shock protection and no shock protection.
