5Very Pleased
By K. Prince
I got tired of spending $10.00 on a 3 foot cable, I thought it was highway robbery. So, I ventured into makint my own cables. The kit came with the essentials, cable plugs, wire strippers, and cable tester. From there it was a matter of building the cables. It took a few tries to get it right, but with the help of the cable tester, you can be assured your cables are built tight.

4Great value
By James
not much to say, includes everything you need to make a TON of wires / wire a house / whatever. why pay 8bucks for a 10foot pre-wired cable when you can make them yourself...assuming you need more then a few. Either way..cheap, good value. Crimper was a bit finicky at times....gotta put some muscle into it so to speak. tester = invaluable...no one plans on making mistakes but I sure did anyway.

4Nice package
By Dana Hood
Probably not for the novice, but a great all-in one package. Defintely better than pulling pre-terminated cables. Terminating CAT5 requires patience, precision, and good eyesight. There are better crimp tools, but the tester was very handy and simple. Cable pulled easily from the box without catching or tangling.

5Great for the classroom
By A Customer
This recorder works great for the classroom. I have owned voice recorders before, but this one has many great features. First, all the buttons are easy to use & find - not as small as my previous recorder. I especially like the "pause" button, which is great when you want to stop recording (it doesn't distract the speaker by making a loud noise, like you would if you hit the stop button), and is also useful when you are playing back the tape and want to take notes. The pause button is also located at a convient spot - no where near other buttons so you don't accidently hit "rewind" or the dreaded "PLAY" button in the middle of class!

I also picked this recorder because it has a counter on it to help me match my notes with the tape.

I must point out that I was in the second row of my classroom, and the teacher spoke loudly. I had one professor who did not speak as loud, and I have trouble hearing *everything* he says on playback. However, I was impressed that the recorder itself was quiet, and cause minimal "noise" on the tape. I do plan to buy a microphone, however, so that the sound of the tape recorder will not effect the sound as much (for the softer-speaking teacher).

I would recommend this recorder and have no regrets in purchasing it. I think it is probably one of the best in it's price range.

It should be noted, however, that this recorder takes normal sized tapes, NOT mini-cassettes.

4Great product -...

I've been using a micro cassette recorder for years, and after trying three different brands, I finally grew tired of the poor sound quality. Moving to a regular cassette size has really made all the difference in that department.

This unit is easy to use, and is a very basic model. No big bells and whistles here....but it definitely gets the job done. So much so....that i'm baaaaack....purchasing another one for my sister! I like this recorder MUCHO!!!!

1Very poor quality
By A Customer
I just received this Panasonic Tape recorder and it literally almost fell apart in my hands. I opened the door to insert a cassette and a spring popped up and fell on the floor. I tried turning the unit on (with fresh batteries), the wheels on the tape ran for a few seconds and then ground to a stop. So I turn it off and try to press play again - only the buttons wouldn't respond at all.

So incredibly disappointed. Obviously, I'm sending it back to Amazon as a return for a full refund!

Product Description

Tripp Lite''s APS2448UL DC-to-AC inverter with automatic line-to-battery transfer and integrated charging system serves as an extended run UPS, a standalone power source or an automotive inverter. Supplies up to 4800 watts of continuous 120V AC power from any 48V DC bus or battery source. Floating 48VDC ground offers compatibility with positive or negative grounded DC systems, including 48V telco applications. OverPower™ inverter output feature temporarily provides up to 150% of the continuous output for 1-60 minutes, and DoubleBoost™ inverter output feature delivers up to 200% of the continuous output for up to 10 seconds, providing the extra power needed to cold start heavy-duty tools and motorized equipment. When hardwire AC input is energized, commercial power passes through to connected equipment and the battery set is recharged via 3 stage, 15 amp charging system. In UPS mode, the APS system responds to blackouts and voltage fluctuations with a near instantaneous automatic transfer to battery-derived AC output. Includes a set of high current DC input terminals for simple installation (user supplies batteries and cabling - see owner''s manual for recommendations). Passes sine wave utilty or generator power during battery charging and UPS line power operation, plus efficient PWM sine wave AC output in inverter and UPS backup modes.

4great construction power supply
By judi nelson
I've had one of these inverters for at least 4 years, and am now buying another. I use it fairly hard, for a mobile power source for construction mainly. My first one is in for repair, as the extremely dusty location it was in finely took its toll. It worked great for power tools, except for my compressor which it wouldn't run properly (it would turn over, but really slowly). It does make a bit of noise on stereo's, as it is not a "true sine" inverter, so I wouldn't get this to run delicate electronics. The tiny on off switch and dip switches would be the main drawbacks to this inverter, in my eyes. Its a good product for its price range. (currently ~$650, it cost me ~$900 4+ years ago...)

5Odd settings, Great customer service
By TXN
I purchased the Tripp Lite APS2448UL as a heavy duty computer battery backup. Shortly after I made all the connections, I heard a small pop and saw a puff of smoke come up from the unit but saw no change in the operation of the unit. Of course I immediately call the Tripp Lite customer service department and told them what happened. The person on the phone was intent on trying to figure out the problem. They had me do a series of tests and when everything checked out ok, he gave me a incident number and told me to call if anything else happened. About 15 days later the unit stopped working and all my batteries were drained. I called back and they promptly send me a new unit. Had me return the old one to them in the box that the new one came in. They sent a pre-paid shipping label. This time, there was no popping sound but the unit again died in a few days and my batteries were drained. After spending a long time on the phone, trying to figure out what was going wrong, we finally discovered that the 2 sets of dip switches read from right to left instead of left to right. In other words, Block A is on the right and Block B is on the left. Also the dip switches themselves read from right to left. Switch 1 is on the far right and switch 4 is on the far left. After charging my batteries up with a separate charger and re-setting my dip switches, everything is working great now. I am convinced that the first unit that I had was ok, just had the switches set backwards. I don't know about the popping and smoke. My complaint is that the instruction manual should have been clear on the reverse order of the switches. On the other hand, the response from Tripp Lite tech support was top-notch.

4forced obsolescence
By J. Holt
Ok, bought this device because it has a nice keyboard, I can take it with me and write stuff without killing trees. So far it's been great for this. Battery lasts most of the day and I can leave it in the charger at night. It's simple to use, touch screen works great. Just one thing. It won't communicate with my PC. It has no USB connection, the older connector it has doesn't work. Possibly because my Microsoft XP is too advanced for it, next thing I thought of was sharing a memory card. I got an adaptor and a Kingston memory card and hooked it up. It works great on PC, but NEC doesn't recognize. After doing some web surfing I get a flash card. NEC 790 has a type 2 CF or compact flash card outlet in front. But it does recognize a type 1 flashcard. Thank You God. I got a flashcard reader to transfer data to my PC, and here's where things get exciting. My PC recognizes the pocket word format of the NEC 790 files, but the NEC 790 does not recognize Microsoft word format. After several hours of trying to convert Microsoft word to Pocket Word Document, I found a chat site that told me to convert them to text files then change the header from txt to .pwd. This worked. So after two days of frustration and over 100$ in additional hardware I can now move documents from my obsolete NEC 790 to my PC and back. I think this sort of hassle it uncalled for and I'm a bit pissed off. I'm not messing with the internet access or its other functions because I don't need them and I'm glad I don't need them. The reason I'm giving this product 4 stars is I don't think it's the developers fault the Microsoft empire makes so much more money if I pay 2000$ for a modern handheld that can relate to the modern software they've seen fit to provide us. This device does what I want, and costs less then a modern equivalent. I'm happy with it but depending on what you want you might think twice before buying this thing.

4Why Buy a 6 year old NEC MobilePro?
By Mark J. Collins
I am a business executive and have been looking for the best way to take notes and have important data on hand for the many meetings I attend every day, and after 20 years the search has ended.I recently bought and regretted the purchasing a tablet PC which takes 5 minutes too long to boot for note taking (NEC is instant on), a Pen that records your writing that made me realize I write about 10 time slower than I type and my writing is often unreadable, and a couple of nice PDAs with dinky thumb boards / touch screen entry keyboards, too small to be of practical use for fast writing, and lacking native / really readable versions of Excel, Word, Access, Power Point, and the ability to sych those documents from your desktop to the portable device like the NEC 790.This thing is perfect for me. If you are a writer or a worker who needs to take notes and reference information during meetings, buy one now! If you want to play games and need all kinds of third party apps / media playing capabilities / surf the net wirelessly, get a newer PDA.If only the NEC 790 had a few additional add ons (like a cool ebook reader and wireless internet connectivity), this would be a 5+ star purchase! But the full size key board in a book sized PDA is brilliant.

5Straightforward and workmanlike machine
By Eileen Galen
If you need to transcribe tapes for any reason at all you will save yourself hours of time and frustration by using a tape recorder/player intended for transcription - rather than your tape player alone. Panasonic has been making this good machine for more than a few years. To my knowledge it's the best value around.

The foot pedal is essential and easy to use, and allows you to stop, start, and back up your tape without taking your hands off your keyboard. The speaker is good, there is a tone adjustment, and in addition a headset (and this one is comfortable to wear) enables quiet transcribing - and improved intelligibility, because the sound of your keys going a mile a minute won't interfere with your hearing your taped material. Importantly, there is a control lever for tape speed - for "variable speech control," so that you can play your tape a bit slower, or faster (which you sometimes need, too).

There is a mic and a remote jack, and fast forward and fast reverse. A tape counter - your odometer - is helpful. Different little lights glow when you're taping, recording, when the machine is on. This is a straightforward, simple, and gimmickless machine that is very nicely put together. It measures a neat and tidy 8 by 10 inches, and packs up simply and with no fanfare. Indispensible - if you need to transcribe tapes.

3good price, but not very durable
By Lori L. Baur
I am a professional transcriber. I do not recommend this for anyone who transcribes on more than an occasional basis. Yes, the price is very good, and when I first bought one I was happy with it. But it broke down very quickly. I had to keep unscrewing and opening the bottom of the (very cheap) foot pedal because the pieces inside that were supposed to connect to cause the tape to move would come loose. Also you have to press play and THEN use the foot pedal in order for it to work. It's a very basic machine. For the casual transcriber who may only use it on an occasional basis, it's a good deal. But anyone who uses it more than that, invest the money in a better machine.

3Limited by single speed
By A Customer
It is a fine transcriber if you only use single speed tapes, but for those who want to tape at half speed to utilize tape space better (i.e. recording 180 minutes on a 90 minute tape), it's not the machine for you. You'll be stuck with a lot of tapes you can't transcribe.

5Solid, sturdy case for transporting high value equipment
    By D. Byram
This was the second Storm iM2750 case I have purchased for my employer. We also have two of the Pelican 1610 cases. They are almost identical in terms of dimensions. These cases are routinely loaded with 50-70 pounds of special tools for our road crews to travel around the country, and occasionally overseas. When the road crews travel they check these as baggage. They hold up very well to the baggage handlers, conveyor belts, trolleys etc. The latches are very strong and the wheels on the bottom have not failed in the 3 years we have used them. When compared to the equivalent Pelican 1610, The Storm is a little lighter but the latches and wheels have withstood the abuse better. We have replace the wheels on the Pelican cases twice over 5 years and one latch has been replaced. Pelican stands behind their product and sends us free replacement parts so customer service with Pelican has been good. I have not had to deal with Storm customer service yet so can't comment. If I had to make a choice between the two I would say for severe duty, the Storm will hold up better. Both have provisions to attach a TSA baggage lock.

5A very Simple and Needed Product
    By Scott
The product does exactly what it says it is going to do, it simplifies making those damm labels for all your outgoing mail. My law firm finds it says time by not having to repeat address entries for our mailings. It saves money by not burning out our ink cartridges on our printer. Very easy to set up and run from your computer in minutes via the serial port, although I did have a problem setting it up with a USB cable line.

Nice product,I have used them in the past and forgot how much they clean up electrical grunge on my incoming line. I'm using this to stabilize and clean the power for my stereo system, a big difference in sound with clean A/C, like taking off a layer of clothes, just one step closer to the skin underneath.

    4Great analog radio-beats the competition!
    By Vince the Radioman
Of all the analog multi band radios out there , this is the best buy . I have compared this to the Sony SW11 and the Sangean Sg 622 which are its equivalents . There is no comparison as far as tuner selectivity goes , especially on SW . The Sangean sounds very good but this radio has an edge . It has FM stereo , a telescoping antenna and a tone switch . In performance tests it clearly was better that the Sony and the Sangean . I have even found this radio to perform better than the Grundig g2000a , the yb 300pe and the Sony SW35 and 40 as far as tuner sensativity and overall performance are concerned ( and these are digital radios!!!) . If you can find it , buy it! You will be surprised and pleased.

    560 hz hum gone
    By E. John Warren
Not much to say, I plugged it in, plugged our church mixer board into it along with a tape deck, digital workstation, and some other audio equipment and the 60hz hum was gone. We recently had a play at our church and had to rent some extra equipment, I'm sure I exceeded the specs for wattage for this device but it handled it like a dream, did not over heat, no 60hz.

5Cleans power well, peaks well above 1000W
    By RJ Fischer
I originally purchased this because my desktop (6 hds + 2 gpus) was popping the GFCI circuit breaker. This kept the breaker from popping. Recently I moved and tapped into the same circuit as the washing machine for my computers... this isolation transformer does wonders cleaning up the power and I've definitely pushed it well past 1000W and it performs flawlessly. I sleep in the same room as it and it does hum *very* quietly -- doesn't bother me though.

2Works very well while it works.
    By A Customer
I have worked with quite a few of these transcribers over the years and this would be my least favorite. It works well for a while, but then the rewind and fast forward goes out on the foot pedal and then goes out on the machine itself. Normally transcribers last longer than these seem to. A co-worker has gone through 4 of them in 2 years. We keep asking administration to switch to a different brand, but they say these are cheaper. You get what you pay for, I guess.

4So Far so good, high pitch noise resolved for now
    By Block
Kind of scary that this thing emitted the high pitch tone that I was afraid of within 2 days, but who knows how long its been boxed up and possibly contaminated. A call to Panasonic 800-405-0652 and a few prompts later and I finally got to speak with a human. I was told to do a "head cleaning" to the machine.****Take tape out and While pressing Erase Prevention Lever (its a lil arm on the right/upper portion inside where the tape goes) press the Record Button. It will spin the wheels until u press stop.********************** Now, why I didnt have to actually "clean" the head with any kind of alcohol and swab is beyond me. Either way this has worked so far. I hope this may help others. I will try and keep track of this issue and post any other problems/solutions.******UPDATE.....As of 11/4/2009 we have not had any issues at all. The machine is used 4-5 times a week for at least 2hrs per day. Havent had the dreaded screeching noise again either. It paid for itself quite quickly******

    4This is a good product
    By Catherine D. Thompson
I do tape transcription several hours a day. I have used/abused the machine for over two years now and it is still running just fine. This is a good product at a reasonable price. I agree with another reviewer, they are getting hard to find in retail stores, so thank goodness for Amazon!
