5Great buy
By R. Wagner
I wanted an affordable laser printer for home that was network ready & had built-in duplexing. This printer was the answer. I had looked at several HP's because I use them at work but their cost was too much for a home printer. I installed the printer on a small home network & now all my PC's have excellent printing capabilities. Some home programs like "MasterCook 6", would not print to a shared printer on another PC. With the software included with this printer, the PC "sees" the printer as being directly connected. I found it easier to setup than the HP 4xxx series I've used.

5One of the best investments we've ever made
By D. Cernese
We have owned a Brother HL-1670N double-sided network laser printer for just over a year. The quality is amazing for the price and it's double-sided!

The only trouble we've had is when we forget to use the correct tray for extremely heavy stock paper, eventually it will jam trying to roll it over for printing on the opposite side.

Overall, this printer has been one of the best office equipment investments we've made.

5Tbe Best!
By R. Joudrey
I have used this printer for 10 years now and it is the best printer I have ever owned. It has been running for 3 years on replace drum and still has good print quality. Toner is cheap also.

5Very impressive
By atmj
I did a review after I first set it up and ran several photos through. Now I have run two sets of color cartridges and 2-1/2 rolls of 4" photo paper and several greetings cards through it and I am even more impressed.

PRINT QUALITY EQUIVALENT TO SILVER HALIDE BUT LIFE MAY NOT: As I said in my earlier review a professional photo-evaluator, had recommended this printer to me, as its print quality looks almost like a silver halide print. One concern however, is storage. It is my understanding ink-jet prints though they may look equivalent to that of silver halide, do not have the life span. Only time will tell.

EASY TO USE I make my living evaluating items for ease of use and this printer impressed me. One concern I had when I first realized you had to change some of the parts of the printer for 4" roll paper was ease of doing this, as it was placed up on a shelf and not easy for me to access. I was pleasantly surprised.

PAPER LOADING THOUGH AT FIRST IS CONFUSING GOES TOGETHER NICE: The Epson printer has a two-piece assembly for the back paper-loading section. One part is made to accept two different assemblies. One for sheet paper, and the other for roll paper. Once you first install this piece, it goes in easy. Initially it was a little confusing from the instructions. However, since you have to change part of this to put in the paper roll, I had a chance to do this at least 10 times. I'm happy to say, loading the paper on the roll and dropping this into the back of the printer is easy to do. Given where I put my printer this could have been a nightmare. The printer once the roll paper is placed here and placed toward the back of the printer virtually self loads. The book does a nice job telling you how to setup the "film factory" software to maximize this usage as well. The 4" roll paper once done can be advanced to cut and then put back in loaded position or in position to remove from the printer. All it takes is one button push for each and the printer does the work.

INK CHANGE MID-PRINTING: This was amazing. My ink ran out right in the middle of a large print run for photos on the 4" wide roll paper. I anticipated wasted paper or a need to prematurely change the ink. Luckily Epson thought this all out for me. Once the ink was exhausted the printing stopped and cued up the ink cartridge. It also gave me plenty of warning if I had no cartridge on hand. Each print I did, I was shown the status of the ink cartridges. When it ran out, it stopped nicely after a print and told me it could go no further. At that time I could advance the picture to cut if I wanted to and then requeue the paper. It offered me instructions (which I used) to change the cartridge and nicely showed me each step, including removing the strip that protects the contacts. Once the cartridge was changed it resumed the printing job. Ironically, once this happened when I could not attend to it, and it patiently waited for over 8 hours for me and then went like clockwork when done.

EASE OF FINDING INK-JET CARTRIDGES AND EPSON PAPER Needless to say, once you get the printer, you will need to purchase replacement cartridges. I'm finding it easier to find the cartridges online. However, I'm sure speciality stores would have these cartridges, but they are not in grocery stores like some of the HPs and Canon's are. As far as the paper, I'm also not finding it as plentiful in the real world as online. Online is amazingly cheaper as well, even considering shipping. Key is buying enough at one time.

FOR BEST QUALITY USE EPSON PAPER: It makes a major difference when you use Epson paper with this printer. If you want the best quality, this is what you should do. This is not saying other papers won't work, but the results may be unexpected. On one of the other competitor's paper, I tried, I got an iridescent 3D effect, when I tried it. Not good.

P.S. This review was before I had used Kodak's One Touch to better Pictures. Please see my Kodak Paper review prior to making your buying decision. I was really impressed with what Kodak did.

COMPARISON: I have owned a Lexmark, Brother and HP printers and have never been so impressed at the quality of the product as I have been with this printer. The external construction is solid, the initial use was seamless and its end product is exceptional. Nice job!

5Just a quick review on initial use
By atmj
Yesterday, I received the Epson 890.

SETUP IN UNDER 1/2 HOUR

Within 1/2 hour, I had it hooked up and running. I have Windows ME and a Soyata 733MHz computer. (A Soyata is a Rochester NY company that assembles computers)

RECOMMENDED BY A PROFESSIONAL PRINT EVALUATOR

I had been recommended this printer (the Epson 890) or the Epson 1280 (for larger print sizes) based on a co-worker's experiences with an Epson 870. She is a professional print evaluator and told me it was the best on the market. Not quite as good as traditional photos, but for a high mega pixel camera, almost indistinguisable to the amateur (which I am).

LOOKS AS GOOD AS A PHOTO

Well, she was right....WOW! I would be hard pressed to tell the difference in the prints it made, and I was using a photo created by a 1.2 MP camera. Either I'm easy to please or it was real good (Both, could be true).

SETUP NOTES

A couple notes about the setup... All very good.

HUGE BOX FOR SHIPPING, BUT PRINTER VERY LIGHT

The printer arrived in a very big box, but the actually printer box wasn't that big. You had to lift a plastic covered piece of card board with all the small stuff (paper extensions, manuals, etc.) and underneath was the printer. You lifted two pieces of styrofoam and could easily grab the printer. It wasn't really that heavy. Despite the lack of weight it looks solidly built. None of the plastic housings bend when you handle it.

SETTING UP THE PRINTER SIMPLE

You have to remove less than ten peices of very visible blue tape used in packing. It leaves no sticky residue, so this was a cinch. (Don't forget the stuff in the inside too.)

QUICK START WELL DONE

The quick start guide was huge, but well illustrated. I did find it a little confusing on how to put the back paper holder extension in place. As I'm a former mechanical engineer, they might want to work on that a bit. However, once I got the orientation right, it went together simply.

DOES NOT COME WITH CABLES (OTHER PRINTERS DON'T EITHER)

I hooked up the power and USB cable (It does not come with either USB or parallel cables). Ironically, I had ordered a USB cable, but it is being shipped later. Luckily another device I have (a CD burner) had the right size cable and I borrowed it. Following the instructions for PC was simple. The Macintosh instructions are there too.

INSTRUCTIONS WERE ACCURATE

It told me how my computer was going to act and what to do accurately. The software installed seamlessly. There were 3 or 4 photo programs included and I just picked one to use. Mind you have have about 3 already installed on my computer as it is.

RESULTS WERE EVERYTHING I EXPECTED

It came with a roller attachement and paper for it, plus a couple more 8-1/2 X 11 sheets. However, I had some 4 X 6 epson paper on hand that I had used on my other printer. When I used this on this printer, it was phenomenal. Granted, Epson most likely optimized their printer for their paper. They did a good job. It was like night and day from the output I received from my other printer which at 1440 X 720 dpi, was no slouch.

The print was on Epson 4 X 6 photo paper. You would be hard pressed to tell the difference from a tradition photo.

P.S. This review was before I had used Kodak's One Touch to better Pictures. Please see my Kodak Paper review prior to making your paper buying decision. I was really impressed with what Kodak did to make their paper work with this printer.

5Good-bye photo lab, hello Epson 890
By Phillip Konkle
I started printing my first photos up on Kodak paper with very disappointing results and starting second guessing how wise this purchase had been. Then I used the sample sheet of epson photo paper that came with the printer and all I can say is WOW! This thing is amazing, there's no way to tell between developed photos and ones I've printed up. This was on epsons economical photo paper too, I can only imagine how good they'll come out when I get my shipment of premium glossy epson paper. If your in the market for a photo printer this is the one and remember the paper makes all the difference in the world.

5We bought a dozen of them
By A Customer
We did the research and found this was the best flat screen monitor for the price. We bought a dozen of them for our employees (I use a pair in a dual-head configuration at home and at the office). We haven't had any problems and the image quality and color have been excellent. I couldn't live without mine and the price made it reasonable to purchase. Wonderful as far as I'm concerned.

5This is a SWEET monitor
By Tim Allison
I have owned this monitor for about 16 months now and still love it. It is big & bright and takes up very little room on my desk. Everyone who uses my computer comments on my "Great Monitor".This monitor is probably the best 17" analog monitor you can buy anywhere. It's image quality will knock your socks off.

PROS:

* It is PC and Mac compatible and includes a 13W-3 input for connecting to Sun and SGI workstations.* Very bright and clean resolution up to 1280 x 1024 (took the top spot in C-net Labs LCD performance testing).* Optional 4-port USB hub connects cleanly to back of stand for extra convenience.* Menu and controls are very easy and intuitive to use.* Generous 80-degree viewing angle from all four directions .* 3-year warranty, including coverage on the backlight.* Long RGB cable (5ft) for extra slack when routing to PC.

CONS:

* It is analog not digital.* Will not do 1600 x 1200 (I know I'm greedy).* Only looks good at 1280 x 1024 resolution (lower resolution takes a significant quality dip) - this is not a big deal, but does require you to do at least two things: 1. Buy a good vide card that will run smoothly at that kind of resolution (32mb or better). 2. Bump the operating system display scheme from normal to large or extra large (if you want to read text without eventual eye strain).

Overall, this is a fabulous monitor if you:

- Need the space savings- Use lot's of USB devices- Have a solid video card and don't mind running 1280 x 1024- Want a gloriously bright and clear flicker free monitor- Want peace of mind with a factory 3-year warranty

4Fine for general purpose
By James Pearson
This monitor is a good value for the money. It is not as sharp as most CRT (tube-type) monitors, and the display is not quite as sharp as most high-quality laptop screens. Text viewed on screen tends to be more or less readable, depending on where the text is due to inconsistent pixel quality.

However, it provides great brightness, and compares extremely well to all but the most expensive screens in its class.

4Brilliant clarity and color
By Brian Preble
The image clarity and color definition on this monitor are simply fantastic, and the refresh rate is high enough to display fast action videogames with ease.

My only regret is its low resolution (1024x768) which makes it difficult to work with modern OSX applications and pallette-hungry programs such as Adobe's Photoshop 7.

5Superior Product
By Deborah A. Woehr
I purchased this monitor along with my new G4, and I have to say that I am pleased. If you can't afford the 17", the 15" works just as well. It's wider than I expected it to be. The picture is crisp and clear, without the jiggle I have seen with other brands. You can adjust the brightness by going into the Control Panel of your system software. I haven't tried it out with OS X, yet. But it works great with OS 9. Recommended.

4Beautiful, but power switch problems
By A Customer
Apple's flat panels are truly works of art. The picture and contrast are excellent; however, when I use it in a 90 degree room (most of the summer), the power switch constantly activates itself. This used to put the computer to sleep while I was using it, but now I can disable the sleep feature in the Energy Saver control panel. Note: I bought this almost a year ago, so Apple may have corrected the problem.

3Good but far from perfect.
By LUKE_P
The Leatherman Juice XE6 is at best a compromise, at worst a bit of disappointment. I have used mine for about 6 months now and most of the time it serves me very well but there are some elements of the design that make me search for different tool to do a job I ought to be able to do with the XE6. I'll list the things that annoy me, anything I don't mention you can assume lives up to the claims in the promotional literature.

First off, the pliers: The jaw design is functional and the jaws seem pretty tough but you'll not get to push them to their limit since the axle they are mounted on doesn't seem up to the job. When you squeeze hard on the handles they flex slightly where they join the jaws. This means when you squeeze the pliers on something thin the handles touch together in the middle (specifically the top of the file and the top of the saw make contact). Often when gripping small things I want to squeeze the handles harder to get a better grip, but it doesn't achieve much because I am already making the handles touch in the middle and also I'm scared of damaging the mounting of the jaws.

Second the scissors: They are sharp but some element in the design means they don't cut very well towards the tip of the blade, even when cutting easy things like thin paper. I think the blades simply meet at an angle too close to parallel, in essence they have tried to incorporate too much blade into the short length and not made the handle long enough. The scissors on standard Victorinox Swiss Army Knives are better.

Third the corkscrew: This is a bit of a joke really, the levering `assist' mechanism puts pressure on the top of a wine bottle using a single edge of metal about a millimeter thick. I used this for a while but after it cracked lumps of glass off the top of a couple of bottles I gave up and resorted to brute force and pulling the corks out using the screw alone. Being used to removing corks in this manner using a Swiss army knife I don't find the level of force needed much of a problem, but there are further faults with the Leatherman's corkscrew; the screw itself is quite short and narrow, it works fine on artificial corks but it often tears traditional corks in half leaving the other end still in the neck of the bottle.

Lastly a minor point on ergonomics: The screwdriver blades are made to be levered out with your thumbnail. The length of the screwdriver blades means that if you lever one out quickly with your thumb the end of the driver is likely to make quite hard contact with the flesh of your thumb just below the nail. The screw driver blades are sharp enough to cut you quite easily. I have got used to opening the screw drivers without cutting myself but believe me, if you use one you will likely suffer the same minor injuries at some point during use.

This may read like a rather scathing review but bare in mind I have only mentioned the things that disappointed me. Just about everything else is great. The blades are great the file and saw are great. The screw drivers are very high quality. Everything is bundled together into a very compact package and very attractively finished. When closed all the lines and edges are smooth making the tool suitable for carrying in a pocket or bag. There are some very nice touches to the design like a series of small ridges near the base on the back of the serrated blade so you can identify which blade is which without opening them.

Overall I am still pleased with the tool, but I was disappointed by the week feeling pliers and the scissors that are frankly just badly designed.

5Outstanding Pocket Multitool
By David Chesterman
This is an outstanding multitool but unlike most multitools, it is actually a pocket tool similiar in size to a swiss army knife. It is a little smaller than most multitools. (I own seven full size multitools and three key chain tools.) It does not come with a sheath though Leatherman told me that a nylon Crunch sheath will work for this largest model of the Juice.

This tool has as many tools as you will get on a multitool. Realize that everything is smaller. If you want a larger multitool get a Leatherman Wave or a Gerber Legend. If you want a compact tool this is the best way to go

4Impressive Tool
By Pavlov
I bought the xe6 to replace a swiss army knife I parted with, and have absolutely no regrets. Unlike a typical swiss army knife, leatherman's concept seems to be building a true tool. The tools in the xe6 are placed well and impressive; The wire-cutters/stripper especially so (How true is that Gene?). One word of caution though and I think the only drawback, the blades don't lock; maybe a minimal drawback, but it you use the blade often you might be well-off buying the Wave instead (wave blade is much longer as well).

5The best toy for multiple children--teaches sharing, too!!
By Nichole Cook
I originally got this toy, because I have three children under five and needed something for multiple children. I like the idea that it seats an individual child in the middle by themself, two children together, or even all three. (We found out that it will hold 5 small children, too! lol) Since the moment that we took it out of the box, my children have used the toy every moment of the day!

The girls love to play together on the toy, and when the older two are in school, the youngest one likes to play by herself. The alligator teeter totter has provided hours of fun for them, and it encourages sharing. It encourages them to work together by being gentle with each other, allowing each other to get on and off of the toy, and by working out seating arrangements (instead of saying, "NO! MY seat!" all of the time).

This is definately the best toy that we have gotten for our children yet. I am so glad that my aunt got it for them for Christmas, and I cannot wait to show her the pictures of how happy the girls are! Thank you Little Tikes for such a wonderful toy!!

5great indoor toy
By A Customer
It is very durable and a very fun toy for the kids. The only educational thing about it is that it teaches the kids how to share and take turns in different spots. But it can be in the house as a toy if it is raining or snowing outside.

53 times the fun
By A Customer
This teeter totter was purchased for my 2.5 year old triplet sons. This does the job! When all want to teeter, all 3 can. If in 2's or by one's self, it is still alot of fun. This toy is sturdy, easy to maintain and can be used inside or outside. Only two things to be aware of:a. Since it comfortable accommodates 3 children, it does require space.b. Inherent in this type of toy/equipment....there are risks and dangers. Do supervise while playing when necessary.

4Open Back a Problem
By Steven H. Hicks
My 19 month old son loves this climber. However, the design of the back side makes it possible to have a pretty nasty 3-4 foot fall if a child were to lean or slide too far back while sitting on the top platform. With older children this may not be such a problem, but for them the short slide will be pretty tame. Also shipping added about 30% to the cost.

5very pleased toddlers
By A Customer
As a daycare provider for several young toddlers, ages 12mo. to 4, I found that this slide is the perfect step up from the smaller slide. The climbling mechanisisms are wonderful for hand and eye cordination and the tilt of the slide adds the extra zip! Yes, the back edges are open, which makes the perfect entry for a blanket over the top tent, however as others have complained this may be dangerous for smaller children, however as with any playgound equipment supervision is required! If your child is bored with the small slide but not quite ready for a mega playground or you simply don't have the room for a huge gym, this is sure a real hit!!!!!!

5Great slide and climber
By jiandmoy
I bought this for my twin girls who are almost 2.5 years old and they simply love this slide. I was trying to decide between this Hide and Slide Climber and the Kangaroo Climber and I chose this one, and I am glad I went with this slide. Six months ago my girls played on the Kangaroo Slide at a friend's house and loved it, but I found the Hide and Slide Climber to be better for older toddlers as they have to climb two steps to get on to the slide, and then the slide is higher and of greater length, so they can slide faster and longer. I would not recommend this slide for young toddlers (less than 2 years) but certainly for preschoolers, I think this slide is a great buy.
