With the right battery, this is a very good home/office phone

I searched a year ago for a home cordless phone/answering system all in one to take the place of my somewhat outdated cordless phones and separate answering machine. Looked at many models and finally settled on the Panasonic KX-TG2700 series. I am impressed, and my family loves it. Yes, we still have the old corded standby for power outages, but these phones have worked well for 2 years now, and I bought a second system for my home office with 2 line capability. Then found an add on handset/clock radio to reduce the clutter on my nightstand. So, has lots of good functions, and everyone has one in their room and me in my office and by my bed. Only complaint was the battery life - very poor. I use the speakerphone feature in my office for conference calls and was always having to revert to the corded model to complete the call. Told Panasonic about this and the only response was to ship me a new battery, which I charged just as they stated. But poor battery design. So I did a little research and found Eveready made an Energizer battery that supposedly cured the problem. I bought a box from an on line retailer and replaced all the handset batteries, one by one, charging each as the phone instructions said. WORKS GREAT!! Batteries are sold by Technuity, Inc. and are model ER-P511. Now my phones have been in operation for over a year with these batteries and never lost a charge or cut my call off. If you find a good deal on this phone, go for it now before they sell out. Really good to use and easy to learn. I even have a door paging system/doorbell hooked up to the phone line and these phones do a great job when I use this for door intercom. And the bedside clock radio works great, sounds great for a clock radio. Panasonic got the design right - they look a little clunky, but work great. The reason I'm writing this is I'm looking for a couple more handsets before they phase out this phone. Not ready to go 5.8 gig yet. By the way, wireless modems have problems with cordless phones so we're still in the wired mode around here for the internet connection.

Good, But Not Reliable

The system is a great idea and I own 3 remote handsets. I have had to return two of them because the LCD displays failed, one after about 8 months of use and the other didn't work "new" out of the box. My third handset is also showing signs of LCD screen failure. ALL of the handsets that have failed have been "Violet" colored which seems like an unusual coincidence(?) and makes me a little suspicious that "Violet" units may be a substandard product line. I also have "White" and "Gray" handsets that work just fine. The return policy is pretty hassle-free, but why the problems to begin with?

Beware the Battery Life - Panasonic will not support.

The rechargable battery in this handset WILL develop a memory and become unusable during the warrenty period. Panasonic claims the battery in this handset is an "Accessory" and not covered under the warrenty. And, they say "sorry" but they can not help. Interestly, they do cover some batteries in other handsets.

My suggestion is NOT so buy products from a company where the usage of the product causes a problem they do not cover. If you are willing to replace the battery yourself every 3 - 6 months of use, it is probably a good handset.

Personally, I will not buy another Panasonic product.

I have used what I thought were good bench vises for years on our farm, only to have them fail in some way or another. I finally decided to bite the bullet and get a good vice made by Wilton. To my surprise, Amazon.com handled them very reasonably in price and even though it weighed over 70 pounds UPS shipped it to me for free. I am very happy with my heavy duty vise and who would have believed you could get an industrial tool from a book store?

Outstanding Vice USA Made

A bit on the expensive side but well worth the money. Amazon did have a heck of a time shipping this beast. It weighs about 70 pounds. They finally got one to the house but it took a while. If you're in the market for a quality vice this is the best money can buy, but expect it to take a while to arrive due to its size & weight.I've found Amazon to be reliable and always come through for the customer. They're better than Wal-Mart, in my opinion. No matter what Amazon will always make it right.

they live up to their expectations

These binoculars are lightweight and compact as advertised. They have good quality glass and are small enough to carry along on vacation, which is what we bought them for. Although we've had them only a matter of weeks, we have trialed taking them about town on walks to see if they're really as portable as they say, since we wanted binoculars for a vacation next summer. They are everything we expected. The case and lens covers are also good quality. For the price, they are perfect.

After shopping exhaustively for a Wilton bench vise I happened across this one in an internet search, and was surprised to learn it was for sale at Amazon.

It weighs 50 lbs, a major shipping weight, but shipping was free.

The jaws are held in place with hex screws, and can be reversed. The surface on one side has ridges for gripping; on the other side, the jaws are smoothly machined.

The vise has an unusually deep throat, which is helpful for sheet metal bending, and for aluminum sheet cutting operations. It is a big, big vise, but I find I can readily use it for fine work as well as for heavy stuff.

Outstanding Vise

Picked this vise up for my shop recently from Amazon. My dad had an old Wilton Vise and after probably 40yrs of regular use, still in excellent shape..I thought I'd be brand loyal. This vise is built like a tank and should last generations. Love the locking swivel base.The jaws are reversible and secured w/ hexscrews.(Ridged/serrated on one side/smooth on the other)I have picked up a set of Wilton 21111 5-1/2" Multi-Grip Vise Jaws made of soft polyurethane. Have put those to use already and have avoided scratching up my material..Picked them up from Lowes for around $8. Amazon sells them for around $15. Built in pipe jaws are also replaceable and a very nice feature. The anvil is also nice. It too has been put to use but I'm reluctant to really come down on it with a large hammer.The vise is expensive but you are getting a quality engineered item that should last forever..I ended up getting the Wilton 63185/159V Pedestal Base also from Amazon. This combo is nice. I have a free worktable in my shop and my vise is mounted to the left rear of the table at about waist level.On the pedestal base, the vise can be moved to a different location in my work area if needed.

Wilton 1755 Tradesman Vise

I ordered this vise from Amazon with FREE shipping. Great deal for a 53lb item. It arrived promptly but there was a small chip on the edge of the anvil. I was afraid it may have affected the integrity of the the anvil. I sent it back and Amazon promptly sent me a new one which arrived in perfect condition. It is a big, solid tool that I'm sure will outlast me. Hats-off to Wilton and Amazon. I'm very impressed with the service and the product.

Great mp3/CD player!

I just got this model and I love it. I must confess though, that until using the mp3 feature I was on the fence of hating it.

First thing that bugged me was this annoying "beep" every time you use a button. Second thing was the volume nob is in the most stupidest place ever. If you use the strap you will constantly raise and lover the volume inadvertantly. The third thing that annoyed the bejeebus out of me was the lack of back lit screen.

Now the good side ot those is that you can infact learn to avoid triggering the volume, and you can sut off the beeping noise, but unfortunately the screen is still not backlit. This is not major, but nonetheless a downside.

Also there is no "pause" feature, only stop and resume, so kinda, but not really, that makes sense in a few ways as it's a sports walkman.

Now to the good parts.

The mp3 capability is great! You can drag and drop ripped CDs as folders and literally put a whole catalog on one disc. I got every Beatle album (studio LPs) on one disc! This is a great feature! The only down side is the jump track function as about a one second delay between songs, but thisis only when you skip, not play an album, although I have to confess, unlike a CD segues don't do well in mp3, as there is a slight pause between tracks.

The construction is very sturdy and by far now outdoes [many] models.

The headphones that come with it are also a bit tinny sounding, but that is the natur of ear bud style. Fortunately...you can upgrade to the regular "sport" style headphones (mdr-g57) that sound far better and have cool reflectors on them.

So to summerize:

Oustanding performance, versatile and ergonomic

If you are in the market for a high-end portable cd-player, this model is defintely for you. The sound quality and sampling is amazing, and it is easily the most durable portable player I've ever owned. I'd been looking for the "Sports" series for 3 years when mp3 portable players were just starting to come into the forefront, and at the time, the "Sports" model wasn't available for mp3 playback...until July. Sony has made tremendous improvements over the years, but I've always been biased towards their portable electronics since the 1980's.The headphones are an extremely comfortable design...much improved from earlier models. Sony has outdone themselves, and hopefully Panasonic will be able to catch up to this unit, because, as of this writing, they have yet to come out with a "Shockwave" mp3 cd player. For now, if you don't mind paying a little extra money, you won't be disappointed.

Ok..so I over did it.

Yes I over did it, but that seems to be my way. This vice is awesome. Superior craftsmanship, and it will hold just about anything! I bought it a few years ago to use at home and I really believe this thing will out last me! lol Fine investment. I saw another review where the poster said the handle was bent? Well it had to of taken quite a shot in shipping to bend it, it's a monster! lol!!!!!

I have owned one of these for 11 years and it is like an extra set of hands. The pins in the rear were sheared recently and I replaced this vise with a cheaper one. It was the worst thing I could have done. After some confusion with the customers service people I got the parts I needed and I am happy to say I have my wilton 1755 back in service. Spend the extra money if you need a real vise, the rest are junk.

Great for the price - Lengthy but informative review

I have been using these for a year and a half. These turntables are ideal for people who want to try DJing out. These aren't the best for anyone who wants turntables for pro applications. I would have to disagree with Mike about beat matching. If you know how to beat match, these are very good. They start and stop instantaneously, and hold their speed perfectly. These turntables have an equal torque to the Technics 1200, but less than some numark and other stanton turntables. You don't need all the extra torque to DJ. You can beat match and scratch very well with these.There are two things you must consider when buying turntables. Firstly, you have to decide whether you are going to DJ or just listen to music. If you are just listening, you need an S-shaped tone arm. These turntables have straight tone arms. The S-shaped gives superior sound quality, so this is not the deck for you. If you are DJing, this is better for scratching than mixing, because mixing is better with better sound quality. So mixing is better with an S-shaped ton arm. If you are doing both scratching and mixing, I say go with the S-shaped, and use scratch needles with extra weight - but only scratch records that you aren't afraid of ruining. There are many different straight and S-shaped turntables. Your style makes your choice.The only gripe I have with the STR8-80 is that the body is made of plastic. If you want your turntables to last a very long time, plastic is unacceptable. Go with the stanton 150s or technics 1200s. Another feature that this turntable doesn't have that the two aforementioned do is the ability to change the height of the tone arm for stabilty.This is better for newbies, like me when I started.I just regret not saving up for a few more weeks, to get a longer lasting set. These have been good to me so far, but I don't have faith in their plastic bodies.Here's a tip for if you do buy turntables like this, that have key correction. Sure the key correction is a cool little tool, but you sacrifice sound quality and volume. You shouldn't really mix songs that are have very dissimilar tempos, so use phono output (louder and does not allow key correction).

This player is so awesome.The sound is great and it is fancy,the looks are so cool.The straight tonearm is the way to go.For all you analog freaks dont be alarmed by the digital part.You get full analog with the red and white cables which has a built in preamp.The digital part is for your computer or hooking up other stuff.For sound i give it a 5.(Whoever thinks digital music is better is a true moron).Durability I give it a 5.This machine is a beast.Accually I give everything about this player a 5.Just dont be frightened because its a djs turntable,i just listen to vinyl on mine and im glad I got a djs turntable.

Old rocker says THANX to all you DJs!

We put the Stanton STR8-80 into our system about a month ago and since then our CD player has gotten downright lonely. Records I had previously considered almost unplayable sound pretty good, and records that are in good condition sound excellent. I'm not a DJ, I'm a music lover old enough that my music collection contains hundreds of hours on vinyl, but I'm really pleased with the DJ capabilities of this 'deck'. One major advantage of a DJ turntable is that the motor can withstand the resistance when I'm cleaning a record before play -- critical when many record in a collection are 30 to 50 years old. It tracks well, and the blue lights are really fun too. Also, if I want to play along with the record, the capability to adjust pitch but not tempo is very cool (yes it sounds a little weird, due mainly to the envelope distortion -- but way easier than retuning a piano). No hesitation, I'd recommend this highly.

Very well made

I considered many different options when exploring a new vise for my workshop. Everything from the cheapo HF options to the high end Wilton models. In the end, and not wanting to spend several hundred dollars, this Wilton 21400 #745, 5 inch vise seemed to be a good compromise between high end and the really cheap foreign made versions. Even HD and Lowe's did not have a model that was acceptable to me. This model was nice since it has replaceable jaws and the mechanism is self lubricated and enclosed. I would recommend this vise as a good option. One last comment is that the vise looks a little different and much nicer than the grey picture as shown here. It's actually a light blue/grey color with the Wilton emblem on the side.

Solid vise

This is a great vise. I particularly like the double clamps for locking and the covered screw to keep dirt away from the threads. Package came with a drilling template - useful.I only wish that the fixed jaw was set forward a bit more so that the vise doesn't have to be mounted quite so close to the edge of the table in order for long stock clamped vertically not to hit the table. I have seen other vises with the same issue.

This thing ain't going anywhere.

First impressions:1. Wow, I can't believe they shipped this thing for free.2. This thing rules.You're going to need your own mounting hardware, which will vary depending on the depth of your bench. I'm using 4 inch bolts, 1/2 inch in width, and the corresponding nuts to keep it secure.The jaws are wide, and the throat is deep. The pipe jaws seem hearty, and the whole thing feels solid. The swivel action (when switching from anvil to vise) especially feels very smooth. The main screw that tightens the jaws also feels substantial. I don't know a heaping ton about vises, I'll admit, but this will almost certainly be the last vise I buy.

Great for beginning!

I got two of these turntables right now at home. They are what you expect for the price. The price is irresistible.If you expect high torque, good cartridges, don't bother buying. The Staton 30's have enough torque for the beginners but not for the pros.I give the Stanton 30b's a 2.5/5 on torque, they could've made it alot better. If you need more torque look at the Stanton 80's or Numark TTX's for the pros.This is great for starting and you will enjoy them for along time just like I have. I wouldn't suggest another turntable for the beginners.If you get them you will enjoy them!

Owner of this model for a decade

It's really a solid turntable considering the price. As already mentioned in other reviews, the motor has low torque but it's perfectly fine for basic mixing. Regardless of the low torque, most scratch techniques and basic beat juggling are doable. The caveat is heavy scratching WILL wear down the platter and cause it to wobble(thus making it extremely hard to manipulate the record without making the tonearm jump). Even with that said, I learned a few scratch techniques(like the tear/chirp/crab/flare) on the STR-30 and the turntable was still usable for light scratching/juggling purposes.So, should you buy the STR-30? If you're only looking for a set of decks to mix with then the answer is yes. If your DJ aspirations are leaning more towards turntablism, then I'd suggest you keep saving your money and buy another model or brand of turntables. Trust me on this...if you start down the turntablism path...YOU WILL HAVE TO UPGRADE.

this thing works well. course i'm not into the scratching game, so i can't speak on that. but it spins stuff and makes pretty dust noises when i listen to dusty records.

Great quality for the money!

Like most others who have researched this vise, I looked at different brands and decided to go with the Wilton 744 4" vise. Its robust construction will withstand more than what I'll ever subject it to. I've already used it to work on various components in cars, trucks, and firearms. You'll notice some people complaining about packaging. I must've lucked out in that the vise arrived without any noticeable cosmetic damage. You'll have to spend a little bit of time cleaning the storage/packing grease off of the exterior surfaces. All in all, I can foresee this vise lasting generations of use with a little bit of care.

Better than most, but still made in China

I was looking for a solid, American-made vise and went with Wilton. It's American-spec, but made in China. While the paperwork says only a 2-year guarantee, according to the manufacturer's website (below), it's still a lifetime limited warranty.
