 Arthritis Anti-Venom

There are two main drugs of interest for me in Cosamin DS Joint Health Supplement, Capsules, 210-Count Bottle: glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate. Not wanting to jump on the band-wagon and throw just anything in my mouth because a bottle said it was helpful, I did a little digging to see if there really is anything to this stuff. Here's a bit of what I found...-a 2009 review of available studies concluded that glucosamine sulfate, glucosamine hydrochloride, and chondroitin sulfate used individually only inconsistently decreases arthritis pain. However, many studies have confirmed arthritis pain relief when you take glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate together.-studies have consistently reported that glucosamine appears safe-a review by Bruyere et al. about glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate for the treatment of knee and hip osteoarthritis concludes that both products act as valuable symptomatic therapies for arthritis and have some potential structure-modifying effects-the OsteoArthritis Research Society International is recommending chondroitin sulfate as the second-most-effective treatment for moderate cases of osteoarthritis-the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) supports using chondroitin sulfate in the management of knee osteoarthritisWell, I'm pretty much sold. I encourage people who have arthritis to give it a try. It's not a big investment if it doesn't help you, but it may be one of the best investments you ever made if it does help! A supplement that works

I am an aging athlete, in my fifties. After years of wearing down the cartilage in my knees by extensive hiking, I was looking for something to stop the grinding and the pain when I pursued my outdoor activities. I started taking glucosamine/condroitin supplements after reading about them.After a knee surgery, my surgeon indicated that my articular cartilage was diminishing in both knees. He suggested that I take the above mentioned supplements, but he recommended Cosamin DS as one of the purest products, without the fillers. I have been taking it for two years and I have noticed that my knees don't grind when I go up the stairs in my house as they had in the past. Cosamin DS

My husband has been using this product for a decade. His Orthopedic Surgeon recommended this brand only and told him to stay away from other similar products because they don't work as efficiently. His hip needs to be replaced and with the use to Cosamin DS he has gotten so much relief that he has been able to put off the replacement for 10 years...and still counting. It isn't a quick fix though. It took about 4 months of using the product before he saw increased mobility and decreased pain. He swears by this product and never misses a dose. This stuff really works!

I love this stuff. I've tried pretty much all the skin products out there, from bargain basement to super high end (La Mer, etc) and, aside from Retin-A, I've found nothing that makes my skin look better that Visage Q10 Night Creme. You have to be diligent and apply it every night, (ideally after washing your face but sometimes I'm too tired at night), and within a week or two your skin will seriously look more evenly textured, softer, plumper and younger looking. Really. It's also super rich so one jar usually lasts me 3-6 months.Sure, it's heavy and oily. It's a night cream. That's the difference between night and day creams. I will say, however, that sometimes I do put on just a super thin coat in the morning if I won't be going outside much (no SPF) and no one notices the shine so it's not that bad.As a guy, I don't love the girly fragrance but, again, it's a night cream so not a lot of people are around. Also, it has a tendency to migrate on the skin a bit, so ends up in your eyes a little in the morning. Not stingy, but you can tell you have a little lotion in your eyes.  Reduces lines around my eyes

I tried this cream because I heard about a lot of studies showing that CoQ10 helps reduce lines, particularly under the eyes. Starting to notice some fine lines under my eyes trying to branch out (in my 30s) and thought I would give this a try. After a few weeks of using Neutrogena retinol under the eyes, waiting for it to dry then liberally massaging in some of this Q10, I cannot really see the lines anymore. The texture is a bit greasy, the smell not all that pleasant. This would be good for women to use under foundation and powder/mineral makeup in the day. However, this is a night cream, and after it absorbs it leaves your face a little shiny. So what? You're going to sleep at this point so I don't understand what everyone has been complaining about. After 20 minutes , pat off any excess and you dont have to worry about it getting on your pillow. I have not broken out on this product (been using it for 2 months now) nor noticed any clogged pores since using this product, but I always use a good retinol product (and let it dry) before using this Q10. Retinol will help make sure your pores don't clog and your face will exfoliate a bit quicker. Give it a shot, it's cheap compared to all of the Obagi and Skinmedica products I have bought over the past 2 years and it works for me. It Works for Me

I bought both the day and night cremes some months ago and never got around to using them. Then I ran out of the face lotion I had been using and discovered the two little jars. I've been using the Q10 cremes for about six weeks and darn it if those two little vertical lines between my eyes, which were acquired from squinting a lot, have just about disappeared!! It's amazing! I just bought a new jar and it's different than the one I'm just finishing up and it's suppose to be better! I can't see how but I'm anxious to try it out. Only thing I don't like is that the cremes leave my face oily and shiny looking and I have to use powder if I'm going out (just light talcum powder to eliminate the shine) and at night, if I go to bed immediately after applying the night creme it feels icky to touch my face against the pillow because the creme takes a long time to penetrate. Thank heaven for little boys....

I bought this monitor after 8 months of trying to concieve. I have very irregular periods so the thought of a machine telling me when I was ovulating sounded great.About the machine: You have to program it to start during your period. So, if you buy it in between your cycles, you need to wait until your next period to begin using the monitor, however you can program it up to day 5 on your period, meaning if you buy this and you are anywhere from day 1-5 in your menses, you can program it for whatever day between those five days you are on. If you purchase the monitor and you are on day 3 of your period, the monitor will allow you to program day 3 and start from there. For me I had a bit of trouble figuring out the programming but to be honest Im not that mechanically inclined, but I did eventually get it.You start testing when the maching tells you to, so you won't be testing everyday. This helps because it saves $$ on the sticks. You pee on the stick in the morning (first morning urine for best results, as opposed to afternoon urine with OPK'S) at the same time every morning. There is a 3 hour window that is allowed. So if you set your clock for 7am, but you really have to pee at 5:30, you pee at that time so the urine is concentrated. The 3 hour window can go either way- before 7am or after, just as long as its the first urine. The machine will give you either a low, high or peak (with a little egg next to the peak days) reading. The instructions advise you to baby dance on high and peak days.Now for the cons. Its pricey! The machine itself is expensive, much, much more then OPK's and the sticks are pricey as well. When you buy the machine it will come with a certain amount of sticks, but then you need to buy refills which can get costly.Did it work?? For us it worked. I was able to get pregnant the second cycle using this monitor. It showed that I was ovualting on day 10, where I figured I was around days 12-16, so we were way off.  Don't put all your eggs in one basket!

I am not advising that you purchase or not purchase this monitor. I simply need to tell you of my experience if you do use it. I was very excited to find a tool that would take the human error out of reading the ovulation test sticks to determine the LH surge, therefore predicting the peak days of fertility. I used this monitor every month for over a year with one successful pregnancy (ending in miscarriage). The very thing I liked about this tool is possibly what prevented my getting pregnant sooner. I relied too much on the accuracy of the monitor! The machine reads the stick and displays the "fertile day" sign. If there are any errors in this reading, you won't know because you can't read them yourself. You must rely totally on the accuracy of the machine. Whereas, with the simpler ovulation predictor sticks, you can read them yourself; see the line to determine if it is darker or lighter than the test line and can compare it with sticks from one day to the next. After trying to conceive for so long, I found myself only focusing on the "prime fertile days." I didn't have the energy to "try" if the monitor didn't say I had to. I think by narrowing my target to the 2 or 3 perfect days that this machine predicted, caused me to actually miss my fertile days. I think the machine was wrong. I came to this conclusion one month when I decided to check behind the monitor by using it simultaniously with the ovulation predictor sticks. The monitor read my LH surge as day 12 and I read the sticks as surging on day 18. If I had not checked behind the machine, so to speak, I would have missed my actual peak time. By NOT paying attention to the monitor readings, I persevered and kept at it until day 18 and this was the month I got pregnant. I'd recommend that if you do buy this monitor, use it as a guideline and not as the gospel. Use it to indicate your fertile days but don't stop there. Don't just "try" on the fertile days. The one pregnancy I did have was due to "trying" even after the machine said it wasn't productive. One final note, the sticks for this machine are bought in boxes of 30 and are very expensive. You MUST use 10 per month dictated by the machine. Purchasing the box of 5 or 7 ovulation predictor sticks is actually less expensive and you need only use the number of sticks until you see the "peak." Pregnant after one cycle!!

My husband and I tried for several months off the birth control patch with no success. I am 35 and had always assumed I ovulated around days 14-16. I bought the monitor on the recommendation of friends (among our set, it's resulted in several pregnancies!). I wasn't able to use it immediately at the time I bought it, because I was too far along in my cycle. The first time I did use it -- bingo! We're pregnant. It turns out that I was ovulating on days 11-12.The machine is simple and easy to use. I know that it's expensive and that the cost may be off-putting, but it is certainly cheaper than consultations with fertility specialists. I also have a very demanding job and was not consistent with keeping up with my charting, etc.This is such a sensitive issue for so many people. I think we need all of the help we can get. Good luck! Knowing is better than not knowing

Taking an HIV test isn't easy, I know. I've taken three HIV tests in my life, all with the same result: HIV positive. Why take an HIV test when I already know that I'm HIV positive? As the author of a book, The First Year: HIV: An Essential Guide for the Newly Diagnosed), I was curious about this product.The test I chose was the Home Access Express HIV-1 Test System. I appreciated its selling points: FDA approved, accurate, timely results (1-3 business days), anonymous but with a "live person" for questions about the results.The test arrived in a standard Amazon box. If you're worried about being discreet, it's just fine. When you open the box, you'll find some instructions, advertising, envelopes, bandages, and two little blue things called Lancets.I found the instructions to be a little confusing. It's not as easy as you're first led to believe. Honestly, I was so confused by the "pre-registration" process that I lost my motivation and put the test away for a few days. I imagine many people lose motivation to follow through.When I finally got inspired, I washed my hands, studied the blood sample collection card, and pricked my finger with the Lancet. It felt like a paper cut. I had a hard time squeezing out enough blood to fill the dime-size circle on the collection card. When I finished, I sealed the card into the provided envelope, put that envelope into the pre-paid FedEx package, and shipped it off.Home Access delivers on their promises of being accurate (100% for me) and FDA approved (other unregulated HIV tests can be found online; avoid them). The test certainly is confidential and anonymous. When I called to get my results, the phone counselor was to-the-point, sincere, and helpful.The problem is the waiting period. From ordering the test to getting results technically can be three days. But in reality, figure two weeks or more. For me, it was well over two weeks: from ordering the test from Amazon, understanding what to do, struggling with motivation, squeezing blood, shipping the sample to Home Access, waiting through a weekend and a holiday, and then getting my results. Even for the Express Test, waiting and wondering is the hardest part.If you can wait it out, the real value of an HIV test is in knowing your results. If you test HIV negative, carry on. If you test positive, relax. It's not the end of the world. A positive test result means you've been exposed to the virus, that's all. It doesn't mean you're a bad person or God is punishing you. And it doesn't necessary mean that you'll need medicine any time soon.Of course a positive test result can still rock your world. But remember, the reality is that -- in 2008 in the developed world -- there is excellent medicine to keep the virus at bay indefinitely. I've been positive for over 20 years and today I have a pretty good life. In fact, the knowledge focused my attention to maintaining good health, not just with HIV, but with all areas of my life.Home Access offers a fine test, but it requires patience. Ultimately, the test offers you knowledge. Knowing your results can save your life. Knowing is better than not knowing; it gives you the power to take control of your health and make better choices. Easier Than I Thought. Anonymous All the Way Through

To second the first reviewer's opinion, taking an HIV test is never easy. I've had several in my life time, when I found out I was pregnant, when I gave birth, when my gyn saw my tattoos, when I give blood. But, no matter how many you take, it's never an easy thing. Regardless of what you think the results will be.I didn't want to go into a clinic and wait there. I didn't want to talk to my doctor. I just wanted to take the test. I saw this test at Walgreens when I was picking up something else. I didn't want to buy there. I came on to Amazon and found it.Living in the DFW area sped things up for me. The company is based in Plano. I ordered it Monday, it shipped Tues, and I received it today (Weds). I've already completed the test and am waiting for it to "dry" before dropping it off at the FedEx box down the street.First off, the pre-registration process isn't difficult. You call, punch in your home access number, then are presented with a panel of questions. You can choose to answer them or not. They are all demographic based. I chose to answer them, because I think demographics ARE important. The process took 5 minutes according to my cell phone.Having a diabetic mother, I had some insight into where to place the lancet. I recommend the side of your middle finger of the hand you DON'T write with. The tissue is softer on the side. You also free up your primary hand to do the squeezing and blood placement. Be sure to run your hand under warm water for about 30 seconds. This will soften the tissue and increase blood flow. I had no problems saturating the little circle. It takes a few tries to get the right pressure for good blood flow. Too much will cause the blood to clot quicker. Not enough will take so long the blood clots before the circle can be filled. If you can't fill it in one try, there's another lancet for your poking pleasure. Same practice, use your Ring finger.The whole process, from the time I got home until the time I drop it in the FedEx box will have taken about 60 minutes.My results will be ready possibly on Friday, Tuesday at the latest. My ex sig other cheated and I was forced to go online all stealth-like and buy this Home Access HIV testIt was fine. I got results back the next business day (negative--cool) but here's the thing--the pricker doesn't prick that great. I used both that were included and barely got enough blood to fill in the little circle as required. I think they need a better pricker thingy. I got one in a home thyroid test once that was awesome--I had one of those left over and eventually just grabbed it to get the job done (then promptly passed out--but at least I filled the circle!!).Efficient/Discrete/Price--good.Pricker thingy--not so good.Would recommend.(Would not recommend my ex.) Ease of use

This product is quick and easy to use. My mother started to take insuline about a year ago for her diabeties. She was once a nurse and finds that this Lancet is quick, easy to use and provides easy cleanup.
