Education? This ain't a book

Greatest Star Wars board game ever made. Non stop action with this game. It's almost like a trading card game without having to collect all the cards. You can relive or create epic battles. Don't get discouraged by Amazon.com's lousy picture of this game, the picture they show is all plastic looking, too colorful, no details, the boards look like a map. But the way it really looks is GREAT. Detailed figures like Boba Fett or Darth Maul. This game features fun, strategy and a challenge. I hate board games that you win by luck not skill, this game requires some skill, like Yoda's "Fore Lift", Darth Maul's "Sith Speed" or Obi-Wan's "Jedi Mind Trick." There are 31 characters in this game including Obi-Wan kenobi, Mace Windu, Yoda, Anakin Skywalker, Padme Amidala, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, Count Dooku, Darth Maul, Jango Fett, Zam Wessell, Boba Fett, Greedo and many more. Custom battles are best like Anakin vs. Vader, the only mishaps are Qui-Gon is missing and the stormtroopers and clone troopers are all white, not detailed, these are minor, it takes nothing away from the game. Hopefully they will have expansion sets with Qui-Gon, Lando, Darth Sidious, Viceroy Nute Gunray and Ki-Adi-Mundi.

Epic Duels: Fun, easy to learn.

This game is a cross between a card game and a board game and it does it well. You certainly get your moneys worth here as this game comes with over 30 painted plastic miniatures, individual decks of cards for each character plus everything else you need to play. The figures cover all the movies from Star Wars to Attack of the Clones so you can have Han Solo fighting Darth Maul or Jango Fett fighting Luke Skywalker if you want. The paint jobs on the figures range from almost none at all (Clone Troopers, Stormtroopers) to pretty decent and detailed (Boba Fett, Jango Fett). The cards look great and their use in play lend themselves to lots of tactical variety. The rest of the components such as the playing boards are also done very well. Like I said, you get your moneys worth.
The rules are simple to learn (it says on the box that its for 8 years and up but I taught my 5 year old son in about 10 minutes) but that does not mean that you'll get bored easily with this game. It has plenty of different ways to play and stratagies to use that lend itself to lots of replay.
You can play one on one or up to six players in a free for all. Play time is pretty fast. When playing one on one, a game can take much less than a half hour to play.
My only complaint is some of the characters that are missing, most notable being Qui-Gon Jinn, but this is a minor complaint since you do get many great characters. I know they won't but maybe Hasbro could come out with an expansion set that has Qui-Gonn and some of the other characters who did not make the cut to this edition.
So, if you are looking for a good, solid game that anyone can learn, that won't take hours to play, that has good replay potential and is actually a good value for your money, then Epic Duels comes highly recommended.

great for everyone

I taught my seven year old how to play this game in fifteen minutes. He loves it, and asks me to play it with him all the time. What I like about it, is it is a great game for 2 people, or I suppose as many as 12. I also find that even though my seven year old likes it, and doesn't really understand all of the strategy that is involved, this is a game that any Star Wars fan can be entertained by. I can play this with my friends and we have fun too, creating various battles, it's not just a kids game. I happen to think it is a very balanced game, dispite other comments. Vader has a lot of offense, and yes one card that will do you in, but notice it only does 20 damage if you don't defend against it. Honestly, if you don't defend against Vader, "it's all too easy" for him. But Darth Vader doesn't have a lot of defense, so it all balances out. Darth Maul has a lot of cards that don't count as being played, but let Yoda forch lift him, and those cards suddenly do him no good. I have played this a lot, and I can win or lose with any character, against any character. Last night the Emperor defeated Yoda. Yeah I always knew that was possible....... Anyone who loves this should play The Queens Gambit by Avalon Hill. It is a more strategy based game, and not for kids, under 10, but it is a great game. Star Wars fans will love it as will game players.
