5excellent quality
By Miguel Grinberg
I am extremely pleased with my new ConnectPro USB KVM Switch. I have it connected to a Notebook PC and a desktop PowerMac G4 and it works with both without problems.

Installation went smoothly. Just unpacked, plugged in the cables and it was ready to go.

The video quality is superb. I tested resolutions up to 1280x1024 and I can see no difference from having the monitor connected directly. The documentation claims support for up to 1600x1200.

I bought a IOGear switch before and I had to return it because I experienced a variety of problems detailed below. The Connectpro switch does not have any of those problems.

The main problem of other switches is that non-standard keys found on many usb keyboards do not work when the keyboard is connected through the switch, and the same goes for mice with more buttons than the three that are standard. For example my Apple keyboard has CD eject and volume keys that were ignored by the IOGear switch. All the keys work with the Connectpro switch.

The second big problem, many switches have an on screen display (OSD) feature that shows you on the screen which computer gets activated when you switch. At first this looks like a cool feature, but it has a big drawback: the switch permanently sends a video signal to the monitor, so even when the computer tries to put the monitor to sleep as part of its power saving procedures the switch will keep it awake all the time. The Connectpro switch does not have an OSD feature, but the power saving settings for the active computer work without problem.

Finally, this is the only USB switch I've found that gets power from the USB ports of the computers connected to it, so even though it comes with a power adapter in most cases you don't need to use it. The documentation states that some USB devices like printers or scanners consume more power than what the switch by itself can provide, so in that case you may have to plug the switch to a power outlet.

Overall this is a great switch, I absolutely recommend it!!!

4Works well, but tricky to set up
By Andrew Blackburn
First of all, this KVM is very well-made, with high-quality video and USB cables. The enclosure is actually metal, and feels very solid. Once it's hooked up and working, it works very well.

This KVM is actually a USB hub; the "switching" part simply moves the computer connection from one machine to the other. The good news is that you can hook up any USB keyboard and mouse and all of their functions work. I'm using a Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro, an Intellimouse Explorer, and a Contour Designs Shuttle Express with it - the KVM has USB type A connectors for three devices on it - and all three devices are fully supported by my Athlon/WinXP system and my Powermac G4 running OS X. Like one of the other reviewers mentioned, if you test your devices beforehand by disconnecting them, then reconnecting them, and they still work correctly, then this switch will work for you. Devices like USB memory cards, which have to be "stopped" before they can be disconnected, won't work.

The video quality is also very good; I'm running at 1280x1024 and it looks as good as it does with the monitor plugged directly into the Radeon cards in both machines.

This switch does not switch audio. It also does not have any keyboard-based switching ability, so place it somewhere you can easily reach it.

Setup was tricky, however, and involved some e-mail back-and-forth with Connectpro's support people. It turns out that what you have to do to get the switch working right is this:

1. Plug the power into the switch.2. Plug the VGA cables for the two machines in. Do NOT connect the USB cables for the two computers!3. Connect your monitor to the switch.4. Connect your keyboard and mouse directly to the first computer.5. Power up the first computer, and log in.6. Now, connect the KVM's USB cable to the first computer. If you're running Windows 2000 or XP, the computer will detect the KVM as a generic USB hub.7. Connect your keyboard and mouse directly to the second computer.8. Press the "select" button on the KVM to select the second computer.8. Power up the second computer, and log in.9. Connect the KVM's USB cable to the second computer. The computer will recognize the KVM as a generic USB hub. (In MacOS X, it will show up in the Apple System Profiler.)10. Now, move the keyboard and mouse to the KVM. You should be good to go at this point.

I'd have given this KVM five stars, were it not for the poor manual (like another reviewer said, it seemed to be for some other switch), and the need to contact tech support to get the proper connection instructions. To their credit, Connectpro's e-mail tech support person was very helpful and courteous, and responded within a business day to all of my inquiries.

5Bottom Line - It's A Good KVM Switch
By techdude49
Configuration:

I just received the product a few days ago. The quality of the cables and hardware are very good compared to the similar products from Belkin and I/O Magic. The USB and RGB cables are connected but can be easily separated. This was necessary because my IBM T40 has the USB ports on the left side of the unit and the RGB out on the right, a stupid design by any stretch of the imagination.

I had to separate a thick molded attachment (about 18" down where the cable makes a "Y") and pull about 2 feet of the cable apart to make it work. The shielding is first rate and remained completely intact.

Hooking It Up:

The set-up of the KVM switch is simple: Turn everything off, hook everything up, power up the computers, and you're done. It took about 10 minutes. It's nice that all the connectors are on the back of the switch, saving you from the big and ugly 'spider' of cables on your desk. The supplied power supply was not necessary for my setup: IBM T40, Dell 400SC, Viewsonic CRT, MS PS/2 Natural Keyboard (w/USB adapter), and Logitech Mouseman USB Optical Wheel-mouse. Both system are running WinXP Professional.

Operation:

We are talking a standard KVM: hit the button, it beeps and goes to the other computer and enables the mouse and keyboard after a 3 second scan interval completes. Nothing fancy here. All of my keys work on the keyboard and all of the mouse buttons work with my Logitech Mouseware software. See below the one Mouseware issue.

Issues:

I typically use a refresh rate of 85hz on my monitor, but I found the scan lines to be very pronounced when viewing a white screen. This was not the case when directly connected. I upped the refresh rate to 100hz and that fixed it. The scroll-wheel will only go one line at a time on the IBM laptop, but works fine on the Dell server. This is not the case when I attach it directly to the laptop.

As I'm typing this review, I can honestly say it does what it is supposed to do. Leaning forward to hit the select button causes a moderate single "beep", but it's not overly annoying, yet. The ability to switch using a 'hotkey' on the keyboard would be nice, but I was willing to make the sacrifice for a good quality product.

Conclusion:

It was well worth the money. Yes, I'm lazy and would like to switch computers using my keyboard, but I made the trade-off for a good quality product. There's no software to install, so that's one less thing that could cause problems. If I could rate this 4.5 stars, I would, but that's not an option. In any case, I hope you found some of this information helpful.

5Heavy duty
By Max Power
I bought this for a used base that came without the drill.Magnetic base drills are used to drill heavy steel when a handheld drill doesn't cut it. I use this mostly in structural steel but also in applications such as drilling truck frame rails, steel signage, guard rails, etc.I use annular cutters as opposed to solid drill bits. With hollow cutters only the outer perimeter of the drill is in contact with the steel, which reduces the horsepower needed. You can go larger than 5/8" with annular cutters. The RPMs and other specs are pretty typical.Milwaukee tools are all heavy duty and built to last. The brushes are replaceable with easy to access screw-off caps. They sell replacement parts for every part of the tool if you ever need them, which I haven't yet after paying for this tool several times over.Hope that helps.

5Does the job!
By carol
This cable does what it is supposed to do. My only qualm is that both ends of the PS2 wire are male, but, in all fairness, as this is a kvm cable, has not affected the rating I gave it. Solid product!

4Big tool for big jobs
By Ferrets
The 6078 grinder/sander with a 9" grinding wheel is a force to be respected! I've used it to clean up welds, cut metal, sand and also to buff out a boat hull. This is a heavy tool, you will feel your arms at the end of the day! Its weight along with the centrifical force generated by the 9" wheel work together to steady the cut. The variable speed comes in handy to match the tool to the job.

1Great tool until you need a switch
By Louis de Geofroy
We really liked the older version of this grinder #6068 - until the switch broke. Milwaukee switches are their Achilles heel, most of the Milwaukee tools we use at our construction company lose 1 or 2 switches during their lifetime, we just replace the part. The switch for our grinder is "obsolete" I tried dealers, the web and Milwaukee's hotline but no one can supply one. So we have this great tool that is useless. Since we need a grinder I guess I have to buy another one - The Makita GA7011C looks great.

4Good Stuff
By TX
Bought this to replace my second Polycom Soundpoint Pro SE-225 2-Line Professional Conference Phone with Caller ID which gave up the ghost (first one was great until water spill, which it didn't quite fully recover from *shock-shock*, second unit didn't seem right from the start). This unit works with my existing Plantronics CS55/HL10 Wireless Headset Bundle. Good setup, menus are short and sweet with easy navigation, and good sound quality, no buzzing, hissing, etc. I use the phone and headset all day long. Only nit is the call volume seems to go down from a high setting to something a little lower on the next call. No problem if I cannot hear as well as I'd like, I simply poke the up volume on the front panel.

5Excellent phone - Worth the extra money!
By Al Janssens
After trying several different brands of phones for the home office, and finding them all lacking the quality I was accustomed to, I found this phone, and I'm more than satisfied with the ease of set-up, as well as the quality of the sound, both handsfree, and while using the headset. There are more features on this phone than many home users would need, but don't let that stop you from making this your choice, it's worth every penny. This is a very high quality phone, and I'm pleased to recommend it.

1LCD Screen Died at 12 Months
By T. V.
Had this phone about 4 years ago and really enjoyed using it until the LCD screen started flickering and died just after 12 months of use. Called Aastra USA and they said sorry cant help you you're one week out of warranty; consider this lack of customer service before purchasing, this is not a cheap phone. I replaced this one with the ATT 1080 for my home office and have had no problems with the ATT for almost 3 years, plus the ATT is $50 cheaper and has the same sound quality and a better speaker phone in my opinion. I reviewed the ATT 1080 under that product.

5High end quality equipment
By P. Thompson
I've had the good fortune of using this grinder in the past in a welding/fab shop and I've finally gotten one of my own...lucky me! This is a heavy duty, serious work horse. Not really for the weekend warrier of the home shop doer. It's got balls and it's heavy! A high quality piece of equipment. I'd recommend it.

5This is THE monitor to have for Mac or PC
By Sparehead2
This monitor was designed to be used with Apple's latest G4 Macintosh product line- A single proprietary cable (called the Apple Display Connector, or ADC) provides power and video information to the monitor as well as USB connectivity to the two port USB hub built into the back of the screen. The 1.5" surrounding bezel is grey, encased in clear plastic, giving it a crystal look matching the G4 Cube or Tower decor.

By utilizing Apple's ADC to DVI Converter (not included- provides backward compatibility with non-ADC Macs such as Apple's Powerbook notebooks) as well as a graphic card with a DVI (Digital Visual Interface) port, such as NVidia's GeForce4 4600 or ATI's 9700 Pro, the Cinema Display can be used by both older Macs and PCs. The converter combines AC power, DVI video data and USB data into one port for the monitor's ADC input cable.

The LCD display is roughly one inch taller and two inches wider than two sheets of paper (8.5 x 11) placed side by side- perfect for displaying two full page word processing documents, web page design, or any other applications which might require a number of simultaneous open windows.

There are three minor issues that I noticed. Most monitors have some kind of adjustment buttons... contrast, brightness, hue, tint, etc. Rather than provide external adjustment buttons, The Apple Cinema Display comes with their Apple Displays Software- Apple's "all digital", Mac-only display adjustment solution. PC users must make adjustments to the display via their videocard's driver software. The two touch sensitive buttons on the front bezel are specifically to turn on a G4 Mac and to access the Apple Displays Software... when attached to a PC with the converter, they serve no purpose (although they glow when touched).

Another caveat... Apple doesn't provide an *.INF file for Windows Plug and Play recognition. Windows XP just lists it as a "Plug and Play Monitor". It's an insignificant detail, but when there are few flaws to speak of, the insignificant ones tend to stand out.

Most flat panel displays are suspended from central hinge and mounted on a stand. The size and weight of the 23" Cinema Display make it difficult to implement this, so it stands on three feet- two 2" legs at the base of the screen and a central leg mounted in the back, similar to how a picture frame stands up. This makes the monitor tilt up at an angle, rather than flat in relation to the viewer. I corrected this by putting a video cassette under the back leg.

My Test System: Athlon 2800+, Asus A7N8X+ motherboard, 1Gb PC3200 DDR RAM, ATI Radeon 9700 Pro

First, I decided to watch a DVD. I had mixed results, but not due to the display.

Wide-format DVDs can be encoded two ways- either in full widescreen leaving the DVD software/player to create the black bars above and below the image when displayed on a standard monitor or television, or it can be encoded with the black bars as part of the video frames. This produces a normal widescreen look on a 4:3 ratio television or monitor, but a widescreen display will display black borders on the sides. As a result, the first TRON DVD release (not the 20th Anniversary Edition) and the theatrical release of DUNE (not the Sci-Fi Channel mini-series) that I watched had a two inch black border surrounding a widescreen video image.

Both Intervideo's WinDVD and Cyberlink's PowerDVD software exhibited the same problem, although PowerDVD does have a software zoom solution that cuts a little bit off of the left and right sides.

Independence Day and Star Wars: The Phantom Menace were a different story though. The Cinema Display has a 16:10 ratio, while standard widescreen format is a 16:9 ratio. Because of this, playback of true widescreen movies on this monitor will still have black bars above and below the video image.

According to the Apple Website, The Cinema Display has "lightning-fast pixel response for full-motion digital video playback." They weren't overstating their claim either... I could not detect any of the "ghosting" that occurs with some LCD monitors when high action/fast movement video sequences are displayed.

Next I tried gaming. The two games I have installed are Funcom's Anarchy Online and Dreamcatcher's Hegemonia: Legions of Doom.

Hegemonia is a 3D space battle strategy game. It had only a few resolutions available in it's graphics options screen- the highest being 1600 x 1200. When I played this game, like the 4:3 ratio DVDs, there were black bars on each side of the screen. This is understandable though- few games are written to take advantage of non-standard screen resolutions. Other than that the image was sharp and clear with no distortions.

Anarchy Online is a "massively multi-player online role-playing game", or MMORPG. It was written to be able to utilize any display resolution, either in fullscreen mode or in a window, and I was able to play the game easily at 1920 x 1200. Every so often, though, I'd see the screen "twitch" as I played the game... It could've been any number of things, from the software itself, to Microsoft's DirectX API, to a build up of static. When I actually started playing the game, (after about 15 minutes of "ooohing" and "ahhhing" over the image) the twitches were hardly noticable... in fact, I've noticed them occurring less and less, which leads me to believe that it was indeed a minor static issue.

Summary: The 23" Apple Cinema Display is, simply put, one of the absolute best displays on the market. ... more.

5Works with Windows XP
By A Customer
Just bought the 23" Apple Cinema display. It works at full res with a GeForce 4 4600 and Windows XP. It has no hardware brightness/contrast controls, but the NVidia driver has these controls + gamma. You can save configurations (such as nighttime, cloudy, office etc) and access them quickly from the taskbar. I have one dead pixel, but at this resolution it is hardly noticeable. You have to buy the DVI to ADC converter to get it to work with an NVidia GeForce card ($$$). There is no loss in quality when using the converter (it is all digital). Color quality and brightness are even across the entire screen. The pixel response is fast for an LCD, but not as quick as a CRT. Still, DVDs and flight simulator rarely exhibit ghosting. Definitely happy with my purchase.

4Beautiful hardware, but beware of compatibility with Windows
By Christopher Thomas
As a software developer with broadband internet and a TV tuner in my PC, I usually have a ridiculous number of things on screen at the same time. It's not uncommon to catch me writing code in one window, reading documentation in another, and watching TV in a third. Attaching two side-by-side LCD displays to my PC would manage this just fine, and probably more cheaply to boot.

But I also like to play games and watch movies, and for that, I wanted a single large panel. The only thing that fit the bill was the Apple display.

I purchased it after much ogling of showroom displays, and attached it to my PC's DVI port (with the help of Apple's DVI-to-ADC adapter). Windows XP detected the new monitor, my video card (ATI 9700 Pro AIW) recognized the higher resolutions, and I was instantly using Windows in crystal-clear 1920x1200 resolution, with no dead pixels.

There are a few negatives:

- The brightness does drop a bit at about 45 degrees, so the sides of the screen may appear darker than the center, but only if you sit really close to it, and are really paying attention. - On a PC, the Power and Brightness buttons do nothing (except glow in a really cool way when touched). You'll have to use whatever display settings your video card driver provides for color, brightness, contrast, etc. As for turning it off, you'll have to either use Windows' screen-saver option for powering the display down after a few minutes, or unplug it. - The two built-in USB ports don't suport USB 2.0. - The ADC connector is proprietary to Apple computers (and only a few models - go figure), so you'll have to buy an adapter (either VGA-ADC or DVI-ADC) to hook it up to your PC. - Even with my Apple-manufactured DVI-ADC adapter, I get a small amount of "static", especially on black backgrounds. My eyes are trained not to notice it anymore, but considering how pricey these are, it's annoying. UPDATE: I have since found a setting in the ATI configuration that fixes this ('Alternate DVI operational mode'). So this is no longer an issue. - On my PC, the display doesn't show anything until Windows XP has started up. This means you can't see the BIOS diagnostics or boot menu. On forums, some people have reported this as a problem, and some say it works fine for them. If anything ever goes wrong with the boot process, I'm not sure what I'll do.

5Disappointed with Made in China tool
By Kyle
I bought this tool only to see that it was Made in China when it arrived so I returned this one. Try finding an American made product these days but at this price I expect it. I would up finding a new-old-stock US made one on eBay for a similar price and bought that. The Chinese one probably would have worked well but it bothered me - my American made one had worked well, is extremely powerful and can be used all day without any performance issues. This ting is heavy but if you need a big grinder, it's the only way to go! Five stars for the US-made version.

5Can't sleep without it!
By C. E. Lawrenson
I bought this pillow at 14 weeks pregnant, I'm now 25. I've travelled without it and am always kicking myself for not bringing it along with me. 3 pillows do not substitute having this thing, even 3 comfortable pillows and a good mattress. When I sleep without this, I end up on my back (I'm a chronic back sleeper), then I have major aches and pains. This pillow is the only thing that allows me to comfortably sleep on my left side, which they say is best for the baby, and best for you. An added bonus is that I don't snore anymore (my husband thus loves it too). The cost of this pillow is high, and there is a cheaper version on Amazon, but I read the reviews and the other/cheaper version had a scratchy pillowcase and was a firmer pillow overall. This one is synthetic down, so you can move it around to suit your needs. I also sleep with it upside down that what is pictured here. It gives better leg support, and I didn't want to give up my normal down pillow. (I know, fussy fussy) I personally think that it's worth every penny. If you can get a good night's rest, it makes your pregnancy that much easier. Another thing that I've found helps with sleeping on your side is one of those featherbed mattress toppers. You can get them for under $100 at Bed Bath and Beyond. It helps with the added pressure on your shoulders and hips that pregnancy adds.

4Finally, a good night's sleep!
By Chococat
When I reached the point in my pregnancy where I had to be more conscious about not sleeping on my back, tried sleeping on my side. I'd end up tossing and turning and waking up the next morning with back pain. I shopped around and decided to get the Snoozer Body Pillow based on reviews. After a couple nights of getting used to the best way to use the pillow (I sleep with the crook of the J between my knees), I finally had a good night's sleep with no back pain. After using the pillow for about a month, I'm still happy with the pillow.I like having the length of the pillow behind my back when I'm on my left side so that I can lean against it to tilt my body when I roll on to my back. I also like to curl up with it when I sleep on my right side. The only thing that could be improved is that I'm having trouble getting the synthetic down to poof back up after it flattens out. This is only a problem with the part that goes between my knees, but that's a fairly important part. I've tried moving filling down from the rest of the pillow to that section, but it doesn't help.My cat takes over the pillow during the day and likes to sleep in the crook of the J. =^..^=

3Not a good fit for tall women...
By A Customer
I'm in the middle of my first pregnancy, and have been having trouble trying to sleep on my side (have always been a back sleeper...) I bought this after reading all the great reviews. It is certainly a soft and high quality pillow...HOWEVER...I am very tall (5'9) and the pillow does not work well for tall women. If my head stays on the curved part as shown, there is not enough pillow to support my legs. Trying to compensate has left me waking up with a horrible stiff neck. Also, the cover is difficult to put on. Overall, I'm sure it's a good pillow for most, but tall gals, beware...it's a waste of money!!

5best of the best
By wood carver
This saw is a wood cutting machine. The chain speed is over 60mph (5500fpm)! Twice the speed of the next fastest electric chainsaws on the market! (the other makita models) Most other manufacturers won't even tell you their chain speed, because this one beats them so bad. I bought it to carve wood with, and find that it actually cuts hard wood faster then soft wood - the harder the better (it can bog down in soft wood)! The first one I bought off of Amazon came to me with shipping damage, but when I notified them, I had another one in 2 days, no additional charge, and they even paid the shipping to return the damaged one! EXCELLENT SERVICE! This unit cuts wood far better than most of the gas powered chainsaws I have tried. There are only 2 things that could be considered downside: the anti-kick back guard on the nose of the bar is a pain...I'm a big boy now, and know how to use a chainsaw, so I ordered a replacement bar without this guard. The other thing is, with that tremendous chain speed, the wood chips come off the bar at 60mph, too, so be prepared to have this sawdust fly everywhere! I completed my first carving with this unit in record time, and then when I looked around, found myself and the entire inside of my garage covered in sawdust and wood chips! This tool is excellent!

5Perfect Little Saw
By Wild Alaskan
I have owned several of these saws for business, no other small saw perfoms so well. Quick, efficient cutting capability...moving at 5,500 feet per minute it is simply the fastest electric chainsaw on the market. Lightweight, easy to reach oiler...quiet (well, in comparison to my big saws!)A great choice for the home or business.

4Really good
By jeff
I also found this planer for a very good price, and 24 inch capicty is useful, and a great time saver because it allows you to plane 2 or more boards at once. I just wish there were more speed rates like on the powermatics, but it is good and for the price supurb. Its a very solid tool with plenty of power and well worth is especialy for rough stock, and also saves alot of money.
