flawless

I had been thinking about buying my first DVD player for the past 6 months. I have had this Panasonic product for a week now and love it! It took about 2 minutes to get all the cables hooked up. My first movie (Bug's Life) was running minutes later. For those of you who have not experienced DVD, you are truly missing out! The video is crystal clear, and the audio is spectacular.

Positives: flawless picture and spectacular sound, easy setup and operation, remote is backlit and well-designed, operation is smooth and quick

Negatives: You pay extra for the Dolby Digital 5.1 decoder but the cables you need to utilize this with a "digital- ready" receiver are NOT included (you will need 6 interconnects with RCA terminators for 2 fronts, 2 surrounds, center, and subwoofer)

If you want Dolby Digital (you do!) but your receiver lacks a decoder, this is one of the best on the market (IMHO)!

Excellent DVD Player

After coming from a two year old Philips Magnavox DVD Player that I found great, I decided to move up to this Panasonic model because of it's features, Panasonic's reputation for quality products, and it's price.

This machine has been superb. Pictures are just as crystal clear as the Philips, the additional play speeds are extremely useful, there is no longer any of the freeze-frame I occasionally had with the Philips, and it starts up the movie extremely quickly. The remote is extremely intuitive to use, albeit a little small. The unit itself feels extremely well built. To top all this off, the price of this player is only a few dollars more than the base DVD Player from Panasonic, making it a great deal.

This DVD Player is a great introductory DVD Player or one for someone looking to replace an aging DVD Player for not a lot of money. It's worth it.

I love it!

I tried to enter the world of DVD going the cheep route. I got an Oritron that gave me no end of grief. After much frustration, I returned it and purchased the Panasonic. I am ecstatic, and everything works phenomenally. The difference is vast between this and any run of the mill low end DVD player that I have seen.

I don't usually write reviews on items that I buy, but I love this thing. Pay the extra couple of bucks, and get a player of this quality, you won't be disappointed.

Great Finishing Tool

I am retired and do woodworking as a hobby. Most of my woodworking is turning wood on a lathe to make bowls, closed vessels and other pieces made from downed trees. A professional wood turner recommended the Metabo 3" random orbit sander for finishing turned objects. I had been using right angle drills with sanding attachments for all my power sanding, using 2" and 3" disks from 80 grit to 400 grit. This machine does a great job. It is well made and heavy duty. The finish it produces is excellent with no scratches from the sand paper. 220 grit leaves a very smooth finish! The disc size is metric so it is slightly larger than 3". I bought 3" Velcro sanding pads to fit my sandpaper discs.The Metabo tools are industrial tools. I have seen them in use on construction projects. As such they cost more than consumer products but they are well worth the extra cost. This tool gets heavy use in my shop but I expect it to last many years.

German-Made, Well-Engineered Tool. Great for Polishing/Waxing Automobiles

It is becoming increasingly difficult to find tools which are not made in China. Thankfully, Metabo still manufactures this tool in Germany - at least of the date of this review. The German high quality shows in this 3 1/8 inch random orbit sander/polisher. This is a well designed tool. The unit fits the hand well, the switch is conveniently located and the motor is smooth, strong and quiet. The rpm range runs from 5,000-10,000 rpm. The unit's smooth motor produces virtually no vibration which makes the unit easy to hold for long periods of time without the user experiencing hand fatigue or numbness. The tool can comfortably be held and operated using one hand as designed.I purchased this unit to use polishing and waxing smaller areas on my automobile (A-Frame of roof support, around license plate, etc.) where my six inch random orbital polisher is a bit too large to use effectively. I use the Griot's Garage 3 inch polishing and waxing foam pads along with the Griot's Garage polishes and waxes (available through Amazon or directly through Griot's Garage). I have also used the unit with Griot's plastic polish to polish the plastic rear window on my convertible and plastic headlight covers on my cars and have achieved good results. The Metabo was worked well in all these polishing applications.This is the first Metabo tool that I have purchased. For the last couple of years I have bought Festool tools almost exclusively. Festool is an ultra-premium German tool line. Based on my experience with this random orbit polisher, I would definitely purchase another Metabo tool.UPDATE 6/12: I purchased (and returned) another Metabo tool - a circular saw - that was made in China, so Metabo is clearly manufacturing some, if not all, tools in China.

This is the real deal. Not out of control like the bigger ones. Even has a vacuum attachment that does not in fact get in the way. Nonwoven abrasive disks are available but are factory order slow to obtain, online, so I haven't tested those yet, to clean ceramic tiles without scratching them. This baby has become my default sander. It's well behaved. I've been sanding entire walls with it after amateurishly smearing on drywall compound. It just works. No gouging effects at all, unbelievably. The fact that it has a tapered foam pad means it gets into corners just fine. My pneumatic random orbit sander lacked the control of this thing, even though it was in fact only 2" wide disk size. Hand vibration is minimal. This is not a child's toy! It's man's best friend.UPDATE: In 2012 the non-woven abrasive disks for this 3 1/8" size sander are impossible to find but 3" disks work fine as long as I include the foam spacer and use a brand new replacement Velcro backing pad ("Intermediate Disc") so the fresh Velcro can handle all the inertia and then remember not to max out the RPMs without being in contact with a surface. I get the non-woven pads from McMaster, currently. The foam intermediate disc, being flexible, quickly adapts to having the smaller 3" abrasive disks placed on it whereas the hard main Velcro disk suffers damage and gets in the way of the very edge of the abrasive disk if used alone. I'm still a happy camper then since you can still buy replacement main Velcro disks and foam extender pads. I'm docking this down to 4 stars though since this sort of cancelled item wastes a lot of my time in the tool world. But boy does this baby ever whiten an old white metal tub without clogging or scratching, something I don't otherwise have patience to deal with. Only because it's such a small diameter disk can it follow the inner curves adequately.UPDATE: Famous last words, above. When I did try to install a new main Velcro backing pad I discovered that the 6mm (M6 thead = 1 mm pitch) screw was made of *soft* metal so immediately stripped. It rotates the normal direction thank God, so I can now replace it with a serious socket head screw from McMaster, namely #91292A070 at 14 mm long in 18-8 stainless steel. I had to use a drill press to drill out the old soft bolt by using a 13/4" drill after first using a larger drill to remove the head then a smaller one to get rid of most of the shaft of the screw before pulling out the outer ring of actual threads. Hand holding the Velcro disk all by hand worked just fine. The Velcro pad has plenty of thickness to handle the taller more robust cap screw head. Having the Velcro pad off now I see why it's so expensive ($15) in how well molded and designed the back is. Seeing inside too I can appreciate how the dust collection is magically routed right through the random orbit off center weight and how small the random orbit diameter is, which is why this sander has so much better hand control and fine finish than those over-aggressive 5" models. So, new screws on order, I'll add some oil to the screw this time. I often wonder why simple things like bolt specifications can be so badly screwed up by the likes of German engineers. It's time to start buying Chinese tools, I guess. We're down to three stars, I'm afraid.

Cost is low, but quality is very good, excellent for travel

I'm a network admin who makes frequent train trips into New York City. I started a new job and was looking for a new set of networking tools. Yes, I could have gone Paladin for a much higher price, but I decided to give StarTech a shot. I was looking for a kit to crimp RJ-45, RJ-11 that came with a tester that could travel well. If you do some searching, finding this combo is not cheap. Even individually priced, the StarTech was cheaper. This kit also has a punch down tool with all the bits you need, not to mention a starter kit of RJ-45/11 ends and snagless covers to protect the prongs. If I could change one thing, I would have made the RJ-45 crimper a little stronger, but I've made plenty of cables, one of which I use every time I am at my home office desk, and it has been perfectly fine.I highly recommend this product for those who need a crimper and cable tester, even more for those who do lots of traveling.

This is the workhorse of the industry. No other brand can come even close to this one in the heavy duty category. Very light and easy to handle. 76 keys ample; Excellent sound

I had been practicing on a 60 keys or so keyboard, that didn't have touch sensitivity, when I got into more advanced music. My left hand started running out of keys! This became very irritating very fast. So I set out to find a remedy. After sifting through almost all the keyboards , I decided on this one. The main reason was the 76 keys. When it arrived, I quickly plugged in and started playing. I was used to practicing with my other keyboard in my lap, but don't try it with this one! Get a keyboard stand as it is way too heavy! Anyway, the first thing I noticed was how realistic the sound was. And it had touch sensitivity too! The pieces I was playing sounded really good! There are also tons of different effects. You can make it sound like you are playing in a concert hall! I was really pleased with my purchase and my playing times became longer.

Then I tried taking the lessons that it includes. I was able to learn the right hand parts of songs when only one note gets played at a time. However I think someone recorded the song on the keyboard manually instead of by computer. The notes come out irregular when the pianist playes multiple notes with one hand in songs like Nocturne. I solved the problem by buying the sheet music for it. However I didn't buy the keyboard for lessons so it is a non-issue for me.

Now we come to the only thing I am really frustrated about. I have started playing really advanced pieces like Toccata & Fugue in D minor, Nocturnes, Ballades, and Sonatas. They will sometimes run off the board! Most of the time there is more than one note being pressed by the left hand so it doesn't sound quite as bad. But it unnerves me!

I don't mean to complain too much about this product as it is very good other than the lack of extra keys. For most people, 76 keys is more than enough. I'll just have to get a real piano sometime. But if you are thinking of getting a keyboard, don't even look at the others, you search has ended here.

It sounds like a grand piano, but not like a guitar!

I am a guitarist and a pianist. I have a gibson guitar and a yamaha piano. I shopped around for keyboards several days, playing all casio and yamaha keyboards below ...If you want a keyboard that sounds like a piano, look no further, the yamaha models ... offer very good piano sound. Sure, it's a keyboard, so without amplifiers, it won't sound as impressive and loud, but the essence is definitely here. Yamaha keyboards do sound like pianos.But all other instruments sound like kid's toys to me, definitely not like proper guitars or violins.If you don't own a piano and need a keyboard to practice (a cheap second hand piano would cost you at least $1000), the yamaha keyboards are good value options.

One Awesome Keyboard

I have a PSR225 but I wanted this keyboard mainly for it's 76 keys! Some song I could not play all the notes because I would simplay run out of keys this solved that problem. The bass boost feature is also very nice would recommend anyone who want to have some great technology at a great price to get this keyboard.

More features than you can make sense of

A very good basic keyboard with lots of strange features beyond the traditional 100 rhythms and 100 instruments. The most interesting is a piano training course, but it to date has been too complex to figure out. After trying out lots of others in this <($) price range, this seems to be the best quality for the money.

Good features:

- Very close to full sized keys

- Excellent basic sounds. The piano sounds like a piano.

- Basic features are easy to use.

Gripes:

- Instructions are not complete enough given the volume of features

- If you buy this at most other stores (which I did), they foolishly don't include an AC adaptor. The Amazon version (280AD) does.

I've had a casio CTK-541 and a yamaha psr260, but this is the one i wanted all along. I liked it because of its song recorder, sound effects, voices, etc.... When i got it, i couldn't wait to go home and try it out. It sounded so real that it felt like i was on stage. The yamaha education suite 2 helped me learn all 100 songs. This keyboard is worth 100 times more than its price

I haven't slept for days. This is a great keyboard for the money! More voices, songs, and styles than one needs. The voices sound almost pro-quality. Keep in mind what the other reviewer wrote - you need to buy the adapter if it is not the AD model.

Wonderful keyboard

The PSR 260 is a sophisticated and easy to play keyboard. For its excellent price you will get a keyboard that is portable and versatile, with realistic sounds and 100 voices, among them; piano, grand piano,church organ, accordion, soft guitar, wood bass, strings, marimba, french horn, clarinet, flute, pan flute, violin, sax, banjo and many more. The PSR 260 has also 100 songs either for listening or for use or play with the Yamaha Education Suite. MIDI terminals allow interfacing with other MIDI terminals and a featured touch response lets you control the volume of the voices with your playing strength just as on an acoustic piano. A truly portable instrument this keyboard weights only 12 lbs and is less than one meter long. It comes with a song book, owner's manual and it has a large multifunction LCD backlight display, stereo speakers and auxiliary jacks. A great keyboard to enter into the fascinating world of music.

Nice Keyboard

The sound is much better than you would expect in a keyboard this price! 100 instrument sounds and some of them need just a little imagination to tie them to the real world instrument, but they are fun and the piano sounds really are quite good. The touch-sensitive feature works very well and is a real plus. I thought this instrument would come with a sustain peddle, but it does not; you can order one for another 20$. As a starter, before spending big money on a real piano for my daughter who is taking piano lessons, it is a great deal, and the whole family has had fun with it. Don't count on the included music or lessons to be of much use, though, they are too difficult for a beginner. Fortunately, Amazon has about a zillion beginner piano books, so maybe you would want to order one with the keyboard if you are just starting out.

Great Sound Quality and Fun!

This keyboard is a lot of fun. The sound quality is excellent--it sounds almost like a professional instrument, not the toy-like sound quality of other keyboards at this price. The 'Portable Grand' Piano sound is exceptionally good. It sounds even better plugged into an amp or when I use headphones.

With the Rhythms and sounds built in it's easy to make your own songs, or play existing songs and sound good.
