I purchased my griddle in time for the holidays and wasvery pleased with the x-large surface cooking area and how wellit keeps an even heat througth out the surface. Although I wasa bit skeptical about the teflon coating I have been very impreased with its performance. The large drip tray is also very easy to clean. So if your like me and love pancakes,frenchtoast,bacon and eggs or just some great hashbrowns, or maybe justsome good toasted cheese sandwiches! I know you'll be very happy with your purchase!

Flip & Enjoy!

I was very pleased with the performance of this griddle. The surface is nice and slick, and there's plenty of room to maneuver and flip. And since I'm not tied to the cooktop, I can set it up on any convenient counter in the kitchen.

Ignore the temperature suggestions on the driptray, though. 375 degrees is way too hot for pancakes (which is what I use it the most for) - 350 is perfect for most things.

I really do recommend this griddle highly!

Fabulous (thought the drip tray could be a bit more durable)

Have owned this for the past three months and love it--it does exactly what it's meant to do, very well, it's easy to clean, and has yet to lose its no-stick finish. The only problem is the drip tray--one of the prongs that holds it in place broke within a day or two of purchase and it falls out as it's being transported. It's still working, though, so it hasn't affected our use of this [inexpensive], useful appliance.

Zoom lenses are very convenient. The equivalent of two or more fixed focal length lenses in one unit. The maximum aperture of some zoom lenses changes as you alter the focal length, but through-the-lens (TTL) metering takes this into account to give correct exposure.

Canon offers this first EF telephoto zoom lens with a high-magnification zoom range of 100 to 400mm. This is the first L type zoom lens with IS (Image Stabilizer) system. The dual-mode IS mechanism corrects camera shake blurring equivalent to two shutter speed steps. A ring USM (Ultrasonic Motor) drives high-speed and silent AF and full-time manual focusing. Linear zooming design with zooming friction adjustment ring gives a good operability of this lens.

Sharp but heavy!

This lens is great! It's my first L lens, after upgrading from the 75-300 F/4-5.5 IS USM lens. I must say the only drawback is that it's so heavy --- 3.1 lbs. BUT, because of the IS I'm able to take handheld pictures. The only way I could get sharp images tho, is by using a monopod/tripod. Of course that could just be me too.Highly recommended. But if I were doing it all over again, I'd test the lens first at a local camera shop (rent one for a day or so) so I could get the hang of it before I went out shooting w/ mine.I rate it 9/10!

SLOW TO FOCUS

This is a good lens, not a great one. The problem is that it is very slow to focus. I almost always go back to my Canon 70-300 lens because it's extremely fast and really great!

What a deal!

I was hesitant to purchase this printer as it doesn't cost all that much and is an HP printer. HP always meant more [money] but great quality to me. Well, this printer is a bargain. As long as it meets your needs (no manual paper feed, USB interface only, less feature rich) it is a great value. I'd had no problems with it, and it works great.

There are a few points to accept before considering this purchase. First, the lack of a manual paper feed means that to feed envelopes or special paper you have to mess with the primary feed. E.g., to feed envelopes you empty the paper bin, adjust to envelope size, feed the envelope, readjust to the paper feed sizing, and reinsert paper. No simple process.

Second, the paper feeding mechanism is less than industrial. While I have had no problems at all, I sense that it would not stand up to heavy use. E.g., it fine for a SOHO but not for something larger. Consider an HP Laserjet 1200 if that's your environment.

We use it at home attached to a Windows ME laptop, and we have 3 other PCs (running Windows 98, 95, and XP) that all print to it successfully over our home network. Printer output quality is great. I highly recommend this printer.

Not enough memory

Don't choose this printer if you are going to be printing documents with a lot of pictures or graphics (choose HP1200) it just does not have enough memory to handle it and it would start giving you unfinished jobs, they even tell you on HP web site as a troubleshooting problem. It is just words go ahead is a good machine quality/speed/easy to install.

Terrific inkjet replacement -- but shows its cheapness

This is an amazing laser printer for the price. However, let me emphasize "for the price". What are you missing out on?

It only has 1mb of RAM. Printing complex documents, especially over a network, can be somewhat sluggish.

It doesn't support PostScript or even HP's own PCL. Instead, PCL support is implemented in software, the "driver" that is supplied. Basically, the printer is doing little by itself, and has to be spoon-fed by your system. This is an acceptable thing in the world of inkjets, so you could consider it acceptable for this class of printer. Still, a laser printer should be expected to provide hardware PCL or PostScript support.

The biggest problem with their software-only PCL solution is the fact that you're tied to Windows or MacOS. HP does not provide their driver for any other operating system, so if you want to use anything else (such as linux), you're out of luck.

Still, it has many high points. Text is wonderfully rendered, and images come out acceptably well. It truly is fast, especially from a cold start (first page hardly takes longer than the rest!). Self-cleaning works great, and it is very economic with toner usage.

If you do demand PCL support, then Brother and a few other companies have "real" lasers of similar quality with similar price ranges. If not, the LJ 1000 has plenty of other redeeming qualities, and you shouldn't overlook it.

Compaq iPaq 3765 beats Palm into the ground

Besides all the obvious ways in which the Compaq iPaq 3765 is a more robust electronic organizer than any version of the Palm, there are two features or characteristics of the iPaq 3765 that deserve special mention. The first is the fact that the iPaq 3765 is a full-featured eBook, running Microsoft Reader with ClearType display technology. Now, perhaps that doesn't make you trip over your keyboard as you scramble to order one, but consider: You now have a full dictionary in your PDA. You also have an English to Spanish dictionary in your PDA. Or French to English. Or whatever you need. You also have Jack Welch's new best seller to peruse on your next flight, or while you're waiting at the doctor's office. You have the full operations manual for your iPaq right there on the iPaq itself! How many times have you actually had the manual for a device readily available at the moment you actually needed the damn thing? The fact that the iPaq 3765 is an easy-to-read eBook (with adjustable font sizes, book marking and other features) is a remarkable increase in usefulness over the conventional Palm OS PDA. But the real advantage of the Compaq iPaq 3765 is the fact that its screen is a marvel of both clarity (hence an actually readable eBook) and touch-sensitivity. One of the most annoying characteristics of Palm PDAs is the insensitivity of the touch screen. You often have to tap the screen multiple times before it responds. And using it for graffiti writing is an enormous pain in the neck for even the relatively adept graffiti user. Your strokes are continuously misinterpreted. All the back spacing to re-stroke letters has caused many a Palm owner to give up on using graffiti as their most common mode of data entry. But with the iPaq 3765 each stroke is recogized instantly, with almost no re-stroking required. No kidding. As long as you're even close to matching the model graffiti stroke, the iPaq accurately recognizes the stroke! You can actually write with the damn thing! And when you tap the screen to select an entry in your contacts list, or choose one tab or the other, or highlight a bit of text, voila... the screen responds instantly and accurately. There are virtually no re-taps, no re-strokes, no mistakes. It's a touch screen made to be touched. After years of using a Palm, including a color screen Palm IIIC, I feel like I have died and gone to heaven. The Copmpaq iPaq 3765 is head and shoulders better than the Palm OS offerings because it is a far more robust PDA, with marvelous eBook capabilities and an order of magnitude better screen in terms of clarity and the all important touch sensitivity.

iPAQ 3765 - A fantastic handheld

Purchased this handheld about a two weeks ago and extremely pleased with functionality of unit. It is very solid; some might say its heavy. I use it to keep my contacts and appointments in order. Just beginning to realize all the other graet features it has. Does a great job as an MP3 player(will need to use a expansion pact if you want more than 5-6 songs on it) I've heard horror stories about individuals calling compaq tech support. I've called them twice. I have never gotten such good service. Better than my Dell service. The tech. didnot want to get off the phone with me. He answerd all questions in a way it was easy to understand. Hand writting recognition works very well; I'm elated. several things could be done better-finnish is great but can be slipery. No cover. Sronly advise to get a screen protector. If you get this unit you must call compaq to register and have them explain in full the sinc. proceedure so communication between the Comp. and the PDA can occure properly. Documentation does not explain it well.

Speaking as a vi**in...

I have forever and always seen people play with Palm thing-a-ma-jiggers and wondered what they were all about. I never looked into them because I thought they were a "very fancy" electronic phonebook, calendar, etc... I happened to see an ad for a local office products company and noticed another product similar to Compaq's IPAQ. While the price was high, I thought I would check things out. Much to my surprise, things have changed quite a bit. I never knew I could carry my "alternative laptop" in my purse with me. While it can't replace my desktop and "real" laptop, this pocket pc is...cool.

I already have a Compaq desktop so I decided to look at their pocket pcs. There were two (3765 & 3835). One had no rebate and cost more than the one with the rebate. Being new at this, I decided to buy the cheaper 3765 (at this moment, I must interrupt myself...yesterday I went with a friend to a local department store and found the 3765 on clearance and am still eligible for the $50 rebate..I would tell you my final price but I know Amazon will "bleep" it out). I played with it and debated as to whether or not to return it and upgrade to the 3835 (obviously I won't now since I got the 3765 at a dirt cheap price..please don't edit that part out Amazon! ;-) )

What I like about 3765:-the letter/handwriting recognition, in my opinion, is fantastic; it's better than what I use to sign at the local computer/office retail store when I use my credit card to purchase something(my signature never looks quite right)-the ability to create/edit/import/export documents with Word, Excel and a "makeshift" Powerpoint (within reason) is beneficial and saves me time-I already feel more organized..and that's only been within the last two weeks-Compaq gives LIFETIME support (let's just hope HP lives up to that when it takes over)..too bad they don't do that for some of their other products-games..need I say more (what they give you is limited and there isn't much out there to buy..everything seems to be for OS..but I think things are changing)-voice recorder...no more need to leave messages for myself on my answering maching at home or on my voice mail at work-it makes me look very professional..something all teachers need (laugh please)-the "intrinsic" memory and speed are good for a little computer

Now for the bad news...-so far, I've been able to keep it charged and haven't experienced "damage," but I hear the battery charge isn't the greatest..invest in a car adapter...-if you can find one..I finally found one (unfortunately it isn't Compaq's, however, it is a dual charger-one for the car and one for a powered USB); I wanted to kiss the feet of the salesperson when he told me he had one..he was my sixth attempt to find one-color---quite honestly, I don't see the big deal unless you really, really want more colors (which the 3835 offers)-synchronization can be a pain..you must know which PC to synchronize with first (the one you will retrieve your email from); this leads me into another bad lemon-the ability to only synchronize with 2 computers..I actively use 3 AND Compaq told me you can only put Outlook 2002 on one PC (rather stupid if you ask me..why would you have the "ability" to synchronize with 2 computers but only be able to put Outlook 2002 on one; however, this is a Microsoft issue..not Compaq's)-Compaq's attempt at a user guide..when I called customer service to get the synchronization problem handled (I called twice and it didn't take forever to get help-a plus for Compaq), I told them their guide su**ed. The first techie said many people say that and agreed with me..the second techie ignored my comment....I'm sure he has heard it several times too-the need for an adaptor to add external memory..something I'm not too worried about but you might be-a real version of Power Point would be realllyy great..I use it alot in my classroom and the files are rather large..they don't fit on a floppy..I haven't tried using the makeshift version of a presentation program so I can't give it a complete thumbs down

Before you buy...-make sure you really want it for more than a phonebook, calendar and other "pencil/paper" needs; it is an investment and there is alot of potential-go to your local bookstore, grab a few "how to" books about Pocket PC's (not Palms) and see if the information grabs your attention; trust me, if you buy a Pocket PC, you'll need the "how to" books..one kudo for Amazon...even with my 20% educator discount at two bookstores, Amazon seems to beat their prices..plus I pay no taxes (hint: accumulate your order to get free shipping)

lot of work means a lot of air

This compressor seems to be a good choice. I work with stained glass and this compressor meets the needs for working with glass. Glass needs a lot of air and - continuous air. This compressor meets all of my other work needs also...... power tools, air guns and just about any other tool you can think of. We started out with a 60 gallon, but decided to go to 80 gallon. That was the icing on the cake. No problems, excypt it's not very mobil. It's great where it's at.

Great Compressor

I took delivery of my new Porter-Cable compressor only 7 days after ordering it. And free shipping too! Amazon did a great job getting it to me quick.This compressor suits my needs to a Tee. Although I use it in my garage, it is a commercial rated compressor. I rate it 5-Stars. It looks great also. The massive motor and compressor actually runs much quieter than the 3.5hp oil-less I replaced. I decided on this model because I wanted the air volume to run any tool I have, without the fear of it being under powered. I can run my DA Sander continuously and when the compressor kicks on at 145psi, it fills back up in just a minute, even while I continue with my DA.This Porter-Cable compressor in my garage was long over due. After owning it now for several months, I can honestly say, it suits all of my compressor needs. It operates great and supplies plenty of air power to run any of my air tools.

This is perhaps one of the best compressors on the market.

This is an excellent compressor. I was a little iffy as most are buying a name brand like Porter Cable which isn't known with a history of air compressors but i'm glad to see all my doubts dissapear. I had an ingersol rand vertical upright compressor before so this is not my first rodeo. This Porter Cable easily smokes the Ingersol Rand both in power and in price.PURCHASE:Anyone who's done a little foot work on the internet and in local stores will see that this compressor delivers more bang for the buck then virtually any other compressor on the market right now. The 175PSI @ 25SCFM really is as powerful as they say it is. Do not use the compressor without a regulator, that would be highly dangerous, for any compressor but especially this one. I also bought from amazon because I read a review here and it said free shipping and free lift gate service. Well that was not the case. The only thing Amazon shipped me free was my bucks even on nearly a $2000.00 order. *grumble grumble* Maybe it has something to do with location? (Although I do live in lower contiguous 48 states. After my purchase it was shipped from grizzly so really I don't know what the difference between buying it here or at grizzly would be since you have to pay freight and lift gate both ways. And yes you do need the lift gate. This thing comes in a mammoth size box on a fairly good size pallette and it is top heavy. Not something you'd want to ramp unless you had a team of friends helping you. When it got here I found it to be packaged quite well although they only used stiff cardboard around the unit not wood. This may be why some complain about shipping damage. I had virtually no shipping damage. Part of the wire mesh fan housing was slightly bent, but easily bent back into shape. Overall a great purchase. You can't beat this compressors quality and capability in this price range. An ingersol rand or chicago pneumatic will cost you twice as much for the same specs and still be the same quality as this machine.SETUP:The first thing everyone asks is do they have to bolt it down and can they plug it into a dryer outlet. The answer is yes to both with some caveats. First you may void your warranty if you ever tell someone or show someone it's not bolted down or that you haven't hard wired it. But first lets just talk about mounting it. If this is a permanent installation by all means bolt it to the concrete but in doing so get yourself some good bolt-through shock/vibration machine mounts. You can get these through companies like MSC Industrial, JL Industrial, Grizzly Tool, Lord Vibration Isolators and Farrat.com but machine mounts are not cheap (15$-25$ usually a piece) but if your bolting it down get the right thing and have a sales person help you.With that said, the machine has very little vibration and most people, myself included, will testify that this machine is not as loud as most people will think it is. It also stores so much air that unless your sandblasting your prolly not going to have it continuously running. Thus I decided to build a non-bolted down base for the compressor. I did this with my ingersol vertical compressor and never had a problem with it either. I took 4 boards, 2 of which were 2x6's the others to be under them were 2x8's and used PL and screws to join them lincoln log style. I did it in such a way that I can reach my arm easily into the bottom of the tank to unscrew that drip valve when needed. Once I had these boards setup I shimmied the compressor on there to mark the drill holes. Why they used such giant bolt holes on the compressor is beyond me. I ended up using a metric fastener to give perfect nearly zero clearance in those holes. Of course this means big bolts. Once the holes were drilled I painted the thing black and then I attached 4"x4" by 3/4" thick vibration pads to the bottom with exterior mounting tape (it has a red backing). The ones I prefer are cheap at 10$ a piece from KELLETT Enterprises, Inc http://www.kellettent.com/vibration.html From here I actually put some thin rubber under the feet of the compressor and bolted the compressor down. Use washers top and bottom. I also used a rubber washer under my top washer so that the compressor foot wasn't metal to metal with my bolt. Little things like this do help with dampening. With the whole thing on a nice base with the antivibration pads from Kellett I would bet that my compressor is dampened more then any compressor bolted to the concrete in virtually any shop. These pads are great. Some prefer the cork 4x4x1" from places like MSC but i've never tried them and these pads are for supporting heavy duty compressors as well as thousand pound industrial washing machines so you can be sure they are the right thing for the job. A washing machine has way more vibration then a compressor.)WIRING:Now that you have your compressor either bolted down or mounted onto an antivibration setup you'll probably want to wire up the electrical. It is a three wire setup to the gray electrical box on the front. So the 220Volt 30Amp is comprised of 2 hots and one ground. If you are hardwiring this unit in you will want to buy dual-pull 30 amp breakers (I suggest slim-line as they only take up one slot). If your unsure about electrical get an electrician to help you hard wire in it. If you do not wish to hardwire it in you can actually run this compressor off a dryer cord that is for 220V 30Amps and has three wires. About the tricky party is stuffing the three wires through the electrical connector on the side of the box. I used some silocne spray to get the dryer cord through there as it was a little stiff. The two red wires at the top of the fused area are is the hot area and this is where you'll connect your two hot wires to. The ground you'll connect to where the two green wires are already bolted down to.Once you have that wired in safe and securley you'll be able to run the compressor. If you have one of those newer dryer plugs with the four poles you'll have to ask about wiring up a three wire compressor to it. Google it as i've heard that come up a lot. Also if someone tells you that a plug increases resistence they are wrong, that kind of resistence is very minimal when compared to the resistence you get from running long distances with 220 line. Your dryer is "plugged" into the wall the same way and so is my welder. No heat even remotely noticable in the 220 line, the outlet, nor the dryer cord when I ran the compressor for 25 mins straight so I can tell you this is a safe way to wire the unit and it is fully grounded. One caveat, if you use a cord make sure to use the shortest cord possible on the compressor 6' is best.. 8' i'd say should be your maximum. With electrical hardwired runs you always want to go for the shortest run possible to decrease resistence. If your close to the breaker box (under 50') it's not even worth mentioning, you'll be fine.RUNNING IT:It runs quieter then most expect but its still a vertical compressor. The tank fills fast and make sure you do the 20 minute run in test in the manual. Also make sure you get a torque wrench or borrow one and calibrate those head bolts as the manual says after 5 hours of running. During the break in procedure I realized there was some excess vibration with a clinking noise cominig from the electrical box cover. The way the cover mounts to the electrical box is poorly engineered and it rattles making a metallic clinking sound. I ended up gluing a rubber shim with PL Premium polyurethane adhesive to the top of the elctrical box so that when the cover goes on it sits on the rubber in between the two portions of raised metal which seat the cover. Then when it ran it ran quietly without any vibraton from that box cover.Overall:In all i'm very pleased with the buy. The instructions are decent and have pictures in them but they are very short and don't really give you as much information as I would have liked to see. Here is a good diagram for those with concerns on how to setup the lines to the compressor.http://www.oldsmobility.com/images/ACpipinglayout1.jpgIf you have questions about setup hop onto a air compressor forum and describe your shop and your work and they'll give you plenty of good ideas on how to get the most bang out of this machine. Between building the anti-vibration stand, wiring it up and all the other little things I had to do to get this beast lifted into the shop it was some work but work well worth it. I would give this compressor a 5/5 stars and I would definitely reccomend it as serious choice for any shop who wants a high quality robust compressor. A good router

This review is predominantly for the hobbyist assessing which router to buy and looking for a 1-3/4hp router.i own this router (690LR), and also the 690VSLR (variable speed). If you plan on using this router in a table and are going to use large bits (like stile and rail) you need to get the variable speed so you can run it at lower speeds. You only want to use larger bits in a router table.Everyone complains the switch is in an inconvenient location. Me too. Though, this is not a show stopper.i have 4 different bases for this router. Plunge, D-handle, fixed base, and plain jane base for the router table. Plunge base is good. Love the D-handle as switch is right there on the handle! Point is, you can buy this router and then as your needs arise buy different bases. Changing motor into various bases is very easy. Can even buy new motor. Also, brushes are easy to access and change.Since this is the standard in routers there are a ton of after market items to use with this router (edge guides, bushings, etc...).Takes two wrenches to change bits. Some would make this out to be a big deal. It is not. Changing bits is a snap.You will find other reviewers that do not like having to remove the motor to change bits. But, removing/installing the motor is a very easy venture. If you think this is going to be a problem, do not like the power switch location and are only looking for a fixed base router you should also strongly consider the Milwaukee 5615-20.Rated 4 stars based on power switch location, and find the micro adjustment capabilties are not as strong as they could be.Porter Cable is still the standard in routers. This is a quality router. If expandability and compatibility with after market items is desired then this is a great choice.PS - for about 50$ more you can buy this router in a combo kit with a Plunge base (693LRPK).

The production shop standard

Walk through any production cabinetmaking or woodworking shop and you'll probably see 7 out of 10 workers using Porter Cable 690 routers. Most pro woodworkers own several (one guy in my shop owns 23, but he's not normal), and have them equipped with the most commonly used bits and production set-ups. Durable, capable, and simple in concept and design, the 690 is hard to beat.The new lever release adjustment clamp is nice, but a lot of people prefer the older turn-key type. I've found that the turn-key types tend to strip out over periods of extended use, but it is easier to get finer adjustments with them. If you get the lever type, keep it lubricated and adjusted (not too tight) and you'll find it works just fine.Lots of people seem to be unhappy with the updated switch placement, and I must say it is a little annoying, but not so much that it outweighs the other qualities of this fine router. The older toggle switch sure was nice, though. It could probably be retrofitted quite easily.Due to the widespread use of this router, there are many jigs and templates available for it, certainly more than any other router. The Porter Cable plunge base that is available for this router is decent and durable. Like everything else Porter Cable, it is simple and not flashy. That's fine with most pro woodworkers, since most know that function beats style any day. You can save some money by getting this router without the plastic case (the router with case kit is $139 at Home Depot/Lowes, but the router itself is only $112 on Amazon, a smokin' deal). The case isn't very useful anyway, as you have to wrestle to get the router to fit in it, and there's no room for bit/template storage, etc.What else can I say? If you need either a starter router or need to supplement you existing production capability, pick up a Porter Cable 690 router. Why stop at one? Buy several!

Good router

I got frustrated with my Craftsman Professional router when I apparently bought the only model that didn't support their guide bushings. So, I went out and bought this Porter-Cable router so I could use my dovetail jig. Like others, I find this router to be great for doing hand routing, and like other reviewers, I don't like where the switch is located. I'm so afraid that I'm going to do a number on my arm sometime when I'm not careful, because you actually have to lift one hand off the router in order to turn it on and off. That said, it has a very solid feel and I use it for all my hand routing needs (the Craftsman router is now permanently attached to my router table)

Very Pretty Playset

I've recently started collecting Barbie playsets, and initially I passed this one over. Most Barbie stuff is pink or purple colored, and they don't look too realistic, but this Magic Jewel playset does look like something you'd actually see in a real life garden.

The pieces are relatively easy to snap together. Although from the picture Amazon.com shows, I think they might have assembled the swing wrong. At first I put the bars together so they would curve too, but the picture on the box and the instructions show you the bars should be straight.

The hair jewels and bracelets are really small, but if kids keep them in the snap-shut jewelry box, there's less of a chance of losing them. The spaghetti and bread are realistic, like Kitchen Littles were, if you collect that. There's glitter you can use with the snap-on bird attachment, but that'll probably get messy. I'd recommend this playset for kids AND collectors because of the more realistic colors,and because pieces like the swing and birdbath are hard to find and not usually manufactured in Barbie toys!

realistic toy

As soon as I saw this toy it was love at first sight! I had a lot of fun putting it together and my daughter (almost 4) absolutely loves the swing! Two dolls can sit side-by-side on it and end up getting gently pushed during play time. The trellis has nice little stickers of trailing roses that you put on the side and the birdbath has two little cute lovebirds that you attach to the rim. The chairs and table set snap together easily and are so cute.

I just put this toy set together a few days ago and I didn't know what to rate it so I rated it 3 stars although I should rate it as "pending" since you never know with 2 little kids! So far, this toy has survived getting thrown around the house by my little tornado that I call my son. :)
