Product Description

Decorated with delicately drawn and colored flowers, this 700-watt appliance cooks up to 10 cups of rice and then automatically keeps the rice at the proper temperature for up to 12 hours. A locking lid ensures rice stays fresh and moist. Lights indicate whether the unit is in "cook" or "warm" mode, and turning on the cooker requires nothing more than pushing a lever. A nonstick coating on the cooking pan prevents rice from sticking, and the pan can be lifted out of the unit for cleanup. To eliminate clutter on the counter or in storage the power cord retracts under the unit. The cooker measures 12-1/8 inches in diameter and 12-7/8 inches high, and comes with a spatula, spatula holder, and measuring cup.

5The floral print is key
By C. Han
Growing up in an Asian family, we weren't about to mess around with cheap crumby rice cookers. The Zojirushi 10 cups through the years have kept me well fed for 25 years. If you treat it well (i.e. no metal on the nonstick), they'll last forever. If you don't eat rice every day or don't have a large family, this unit might be overkill. You may think about a 4 or 5 cup. You can, of course, buy this one too. My mom owns 3 rice cookers. If you ever go to an Asian food market, you'll see that practically every rice cooker comes in floral print. I don't trust a rice cooker without flowers on the side. =)

PRO:Easy perfect rice every timeCan feed a small armyComes with everything except rice and waterWill last forever with a little careFloral print

CON:Not for people living aloneYou need to know how to make riceKinda pricy, but worth it if you eat a lot of rice

5Good rice every time.
By John Tilelli MD
It is surprising how much rice my family uses. When I leave work and pick up the kids, I am already scheming to find a way to put a meal on the table in 15 minutes. Rice is a pretty versatile choice, so it finds its way to the menu two or three times a week. Make a little sushi on Saturday, and suddenly one is going through five pounds or so a month. Sad to say, though, it requires a bit of attention. Get distracted by the chicken, and, oops, there goes the side dish! Comes Zojirushi to the rescue with foolproof rice. Rinse a couple of cups of rice, add water, and push one button. Minutes later, the rice is ready with the dinner. The texture is good, and the machine keeps the rice warm without burning it. Two cups or ten cups cook up equally well. Cleanup is a sanp, as the bowl slides out easily. A handy self-retreacting cord keeps it compact when I put it away later. One caution: keep the kids away from the vent while it is on, lest they are burned by the steam. I keep my ricemaker handy on the shelf, next to my bread machine, also a Zojirushi. The two of them are my favorite, and most often used, kitchen time-savers.

5The only option!
By Janey Lee
My mother has been using hers for 20 years. I own this rice cooker and its the only one I would ever buy. Its good for korean style short grain rice which is really sticky. Western style long grain rice works well too. Once I made a paella in it and it was not bad! You can also add pre-soaked beans to your rice.

I think the new "fuzzy logic" models are not worthwhile. I just want to put in the rice and cook it!

There is only one button, so its easy to use. Use the measuring cup that comes with it and then add water up to the corresponding line on the inside of the bowl. For instance, for 3 cups of rice, put water up to the 3 cup line. I prefer moister rice so I add more water, like a 1/2 measure more. The chinese method of adding water to the first knuckle of your finger works too.

Another tip, this is an awesome non stick bowl, but it scrathes really easily. NEVER EVER, put a fork or even a spoon in it. Use the spatula that comes with it. Also never scrub it, wash with a little soap and soft sponge. I mean it, never scrub or you will ruin it right away.

I agree with the other reviewer, its all about the retractable power cord. Why dont all appliances have this?

5Excellent
By J. Leigh
Pros:- non-stick surface makes it extremely easy to clean. Charred food debris just slides off the surface.- base of the unit is made of plastic and acts as an insulator so there is no need to put anything under it to protect your tabletop.- safety mechanism built in so that grill cannot be operated without drip pan.- takes only 10 minutes to heat up fully.- grill is a heavy cast iron so holds heat well. I have seen other similar grills by companies like Sanyo and only Zojurushi uses a heavy cast iron grill.- heats very well. Grills meat very fast.- no smoke generated- not sure why, but there just isn't any.Cons:- none so far.Notes:- if you want to grill vegetables, I'd recommend coating them with some oil before putting them on the grill, otherwise the veges tend to get dry.- power cable is short, so make sure you have an extension cable handy.

5Is it hot enough for you?
By Kiwi
Yes, it is....That is the problem with all the other electric grills on the market...they just don't get hot enough. This one does and I think it is just smashing !! I can control the temperature, it heats evenly and leaves nice grill marks on the food.....It is perfect for someone like me who does not have time to wait around for a charcoal fire to heat up and does not particularily like gas grills..... From onions to eggplant and shrimp to steak, this little cookery has lovingly seared my heart....It's just great !! It is certainly worth owning and I can highly recommend it to everyone !!

4Zojirushi Electric Grill CC15 - Quality Product
By Mark
The Zojirushi EB-CC15 Indoor Electric Grill is a great indoor grill, and a large part of the reason my friend got me this one was due to the Amazon reviews. At first I was somewhat skeptical, since most similar products are significantly marked down from list price. But after spending a month really using this guy, I have become a believer. Zojirushi's reputation is well deserved!Pros:+ Great performance from the grill with a variety of meats and veggies+ Detachable power cord provides safety and easier storage+ Non-stick surface really works!+ The lower reservoir catches excess fat and makes clean up easy+ The size is perfect for grilling large quantities at once+ The surface seems better designed for even grilling with wider bars than other units+ The surface definitely is more durable than others like the Forman Grill+ There is still some smoking, but it is very little and does lessen with more frequent useCons:- Must be cleaned carefully because it cannot be fully submerged- Limited temperature settings (low, medium, high), though not a big deal- Still costs a premium relative to other indoor grillsOther Considerations- You should be careful not to use metal utensils that could scratch or erode the surface- While cleaning is easy because of the good surface, it does take a little time- Because of the large grilling area, this will take up some countertop room- If you don't want any smoking, use a lower heat settingSetting this thing up the first time is very easy. The bottom try is stainless steel and cleans easily. When you place the grill on top, you have to line it up properly with the base and the connectors for the power element which plugs into the heating element.I did notice that the meats I cooked smoked a little the first few weeks I used it. Obviously, if you set it to high, foods will cook quicker but also smoke slightly more. Interestingly, it seems to smoke less now. Perhaps the non-stick surface just needed to be *seasoned* or burned in a little more. It will still smoke a little, but definitely not too much.Cleaning it is easy, but it does take a little time. Read and follow the instructions! You can remove the catch tray and clean it normally, but you can't submerge the grill portion because it has the heating element inside of it. Once you get used to it you should have no problems cleaning up.Comparing To The AlternativesI have used grill pans like the Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned Square Grill Pan on the stove, but they seem to not work as well or cook as evenly as this. Also, this is just more convenient for grilling a larger quantity at once.I have also used the George Foreman GRP4 Next Grilleration 4-Burger Grill with Removable Plates, White in the past, which are not bad but they tend to be messier and the non-stick surface definitely seemed to not work as well and chip away with normal use. In addition, the Sanyo HPS-SG3 200-Square-Inch Electric Indoor Barbeque Grill, Black is a little less money but has thinner grill bars and not as good of a reputation. The Delonghi BG24 Perfecto Indoor Grill was also an option, but I am glad I got the Zojirushi. After using this for a while, I think this is a great price for a very well made and solid unit. This is a great product. Give it a try.Enjoy!

5Well worth the money
By A Customer
I hesitated to buy this printer because of the price, but now that I have it, I don't regret my decision at all. I read reviews for almost every printer and printer/fax/copier combo out there. Taking everything into consideration, this looked like the best printer. So far, it has been far superior to the HPs and Epsons I've used in the past.

I love the individual ink tank idea, although I haven't had it long enough to change any tanks yet. Some people complain that the tanks are small. Yes, they are a bit smaller than many others, but there are six of them, so the total amount of ink appears to be much more than the printers with one or two tanks.

There is indeed a Print Preview option in the Properties window on the "Main" tab. I have used it and it works great.

The print quality is awesome, especially on photo paper. I had to do some color tweaking on some of the pictures, but that was due to poor lighting in the digital photo. It prints black and white or sepia photos beautifully with no adjustments. I've seen some complaints that the black and white text on regular paper is fuzzy, but I printed my tax returns, and it looked better than my Epson ever printed anything.

Setup was easy and the software is so far the best part. There are three programs altogether, but the Canon ZoomBrowser EX is my favorite so far. It allows me to see a thumbnail of all of my digital photos, and organize them into folders. I can also print index prints or scrapbook pages or just arrange one or several photos onto one sheet. Before, I only had Adobe PhotoDeluxe, which forces you to open your photos one at a time--there are no thumbnails, so if you're file names aren't descriptive, you don't know what you are opening. The ZoomBrowser EX opens Adobe PhotoDeluxe for me so I can edit the photos directly from that program--so I can see all my photos, and choose which ones to edit or enhance.

Another bonus: the printing is very fast. The Epson I used to have (it now sits in the garage) warmed up or cleaned the print heads every time I used it after sitting idle (taking often 2-5 minutes). This drastically cut the print time, since I didn't use the printer that often. This Canon prints without having to warm up, even after sitting idle. It's a wonderful thing.

5Beautiful prints, reliable, and a print preview too!
By Den
The other reviews here say it well. I switched to the S9000 after tiring of wasting half of every color ink cartridge on cleaning cycles on my Epson. The S9000's been 100% reliable, without a single clog. Photo quality is on par with Epson's -- that is, superb. And the printer driver's been updated since the spotlight review was written -- this version does include a Print Preview feature. The 13x19 prints are absolutely stunning! And this thing is amazingly fast.

Just two downsides. First, you need to be sure to use the right paper. With Canon Photo Paper Pro or Epson's papers, prints look fantastic. With Kodak and some other brands, the ink pools and you get a "spotty" appearance. Second, the printer won't do borderless prints at 13x19. The borderless 8x10 and 4x6 prints look great, though.

5Excellent quality, extremely user-friendly!
By Sandy S.
This was the first photo printer I have ever purchased, and got it because of the large-format printing ability. I had it narrowed down to the Epson 1280 and the Canon S9000, and after reading an excellent review discussing these very 2 printers (such luck!), I chose the Canon for "slightly superior photo quality". Epson is well-known for its printers, but Canon apparently has become quite the competitor, just from what I've read and researched. (I recommend checking out Steve's Digicams wesite for some in-depth reviews if you are interested.)

I ordered this printer on a Friday evening with ground shipping. It arrived Tuesday afternoon. Kudos to Amazon and UPS for making the delivery quicker than I imagined possible.

Ok, so I opened the box and everything was there, so far so good. Set-up was easy, a la Canon (I also have a G2 camera), BUT be warned, there is no USB cable included to attach the printer to your computer! I knew this to be the case and had an extra one so it was no big deal, but Canon, what's the deal with that?!? You couldn't supply a simple little cable with your printer? Go figure.

I went ahead and printed a "test shot" that I found on PhotoDisc.coms' website. They have a few excellent test photos available for this purpose - download is free. This particualar photo had every color imaginable, flesh tones, black and white, every day objects (fruit, flowers, stamps, colored pencils, you get the idea). Every object was printed with incredible color accuracy and detail. So far so good.

I went on to print some headshots I had taken of me w/ my G2 that I had photoshopped. Again, excellent detail, color representation, etc etc etc! I printed about 10 8x11 shots, and all are vibrant, beautiful, crisp - everything I would expect from a photo lab (who, btw, printed one of my headshots last week **too dark** - and they wonder why we customers are getting all savvy with our OWN digital darkrooms!)

I have only used Canon Photo Pro paper and Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy. I will be trying out the large-format papers as soon as I'm sure I know what I am doing (so I don't waste paper, which yes, is expensive, but well worth it in my opinion).

I did experience some banding on one shot, but realized that I had not set the paper settings correctly in the dialog box before sending the print to the printer. I re-set them for the correct paper, re-printed, and voila! A perfect print. My fault, not Canon's. :)

I will update this if I experience problems, as of now however this printer is going to be an incredible investment and I am SO pleased to have made this purchase!

5Amazing Printer!
By RICHARD DIBONA
I did a lot of research on printers and decided to wait for the Canon S900 to come out. It was definitely worth it...compared to other ink-jet printers, you are gaining in speed and quality, which is really what it all comes down to with a printer.

The printer comes nicely packed with a quick-start guide and CD right inside the top of the box. The 6 ink cartridges are also tucked in, three on each side. I ordered backup ink cartridges as well. Ordering the ink cartridges without actually having seen the printer or what cartridges it takes was a bit of a risk, especially when the cartridges were shipped ahead of the printer and were labeled for the Canon S800. But they are fine. Look for the BCI-6xx model numbers and you will be fine.

Also, be sure to order a USB A-B type cable as the printer does not come with one. These are very cheap, but if you get the printer and don't have a cable, it will make for a disappointing evening when you can't set it up.

Setup was a breeze. The print quality is outstanding, and the printer is very quiet. I do a lot of graphics and text printing and it is amazingly fast and the the text is clear. I would recommend getting some good paper, though, as regular xerox machine type paper will not do this printer justice. I could notice a clear difference in text output.

The six different ink cartridges could be viewed by some to be a downfall, but I would rather replace one $10 color when needed than have to replace all of the colors at once like in other brands.

In summary, this is outstanding printer, and if you can afford it, you will not be disappointed. Coupled with a good digital camera, you will never need to get film developed again!

1My Great Canon S900 Died!
By A Customer
I originally gave the S900 a 5 star review back on March 16 and espoused the great photo quality prints. It doesn't print great photo quality prints anymore! As a matter of fact, it doesn't print anything anymore. I was in the middle of printing a page and it died. The printer just powered off and would not power back on. It is now being repaired at a Canon Authorized Service Center. (Note: Another reviewer had a similar situation which he posted on July 22).Upon doing a little more research, I discovered that the printer has a waste ink tank that collects used ink from any print head cleaning that you peform under your routine maintanence to ensure consistent quality printing. Once this waste ink tank is full it needs to be replaced and is not user servicable. The printer will transmit an error message and will stop functioning until it is sent to a Canon Authorized Service Center for repairs. One would think the major cost to owning this printer was just the consumables, ink, paper, etc., so buyer beware.I still think the print quality is great but I question the manufacturing quality.

5AWESOME photo quality and FAST FAST FAST!!!
By A Customer
When I first tried out the Canon s900 printer, I was sure the photo quality would be great (Canon is known for that)but I doubted that it could really print out a 2400x1200 4x6 photo in 30 seconds...but it did! On some pictures, it takes even less time than that! And the photo quality could not be better--it is relieveing to watch this printer shoot out a picture at such high speeds (any other printer would take 5 min to print the same thing)and, on close inspection, I am hard pressed to find ANY dots or graininess--and it is crisp, not blurry, which I have seen dye-subs to be. My dad has an HP "photo printer" that takes for-ever to print out pics that don't look half as good. On top of that, I can replace each of the six colors individually--which is fortunate, because they run out at VERY different times. I read in every review site that Canon has by far the most inexpensive and economical ink system, which also helped in my decision. This is without a doubt the best printer out there!

5Amazing output!
By A Customer
I bought a S820 to replace my old Epson Stylus Color 600. I'm totally blown away by the speed and quality of the output. Printed an image I took with a digital camera on 1 of the free 4x6 Photo Paper Pro samples, I couldn't believe it came out of an inkjet!!I prefer the S820 over the S820D because of the legacy (parallel port) support and [price] difference. I process all my photos before I print them so the direct print feature in S820D is not important. I liked the idea of the integrated CF reader in the S820D, until I found out that the printer needs to be turned on in order to transfer files to an attached PC. S900 gives the same quality as the S820x but 2x as fast. However, I can't see myself printing more than 30 photos a month, so I can't justifies paying... more for the S900.

5Call me insane, but this is tremendous quality for 200 bucks
By Jennifer C
Ok, I admit it...I haven't bought a new computer and printer for quite some time, but I am a demanding photography hobbyist always looking for my next photo gadget. Maybe if I quit spending money on cameras I could buy a real computer. Yes, a good idea...so I bought a new Dell PC on a back to school special a few weeks ago.

I hand-picked this printer to go with it. Yes, I could have picked any printer and expected to pay more but after a ton of research, this was the one. Priced at roughly $200, I couldn't believe the value. Amazon[.com]'s price was almost $100 cheaper than my local Circuit City or Staples.

Hooked it up last weekend - took 10 minutes max and I even installed a brand new USB 2.0 card to expand my ports. Love the individual ink tanks...not having to replace colors that haven't gone out is great for the wallet and the environment. The individual cartridges can be replaced for $11.95 and were available at my local Office Max.

I did have to play around with the printer settings. I bought both Canon (at canon's site) and Kodak paper (at Sams club) and started figuring it out. I have a Minolta 4MP S404 and an Epson 2450 scanner. The first photos printed on the Kodak paper were grainy and very non-photo like. Good news followed after about 2-3 attempts with different print settings. The result, virtually photo perfect prints from the Minolta S404. Stunning and unbelievably fast. Best news, the Canon lets you save the perfect print settings once you discover what works the best. Thank goodness, without this "profile" feature I would go nuts.

It was harder to get the same output from my scanner but I upped the scan resolution above 600dpi and the photo print quality has outperformed my wildest expectations. The result is a near perfect copy of the original.

It might be me, but I can't figure out how to make the 4x6 (Kodak paper) work. I have been printing on the larger 8x11 paper and slicing the final photo to size. Also, I got nearly same quality from Kodak and Canon paper with the right settings. For the price, the Kodak paper is a winner with this printer.

Bottom Line: Would buy it all over again, fast, and tremendous output quality for the money.

Cons: Only downside was fooling around with the print settings and saving the print profiles to get consistently good results.

5Perfection...
By Electronics Fan (NYC)
I was looking for a printer mainly for my 20-year inventory of slides and negatives, plus some limited use for B&W documents. Initially I bought the Epson C80, which I returned because I wasn't too happy with its photo quality.

The S820 has far exceeded my expectations. Especially on Canon's Photo Paper Pro, I end up with better quality prints than the photolab. With my scanner (Epson's 2450 -- highly recommended), with Photoshop 6.0, and the S820, I have the perfect digital darkroom.

Main pluses for the S820:- Perfect photos. The borderless feature works nicely - not the slightest defect at the edges.- Quick. ~1minute for 4x6 at max resolution- Robust and quiet.- Simple: Just a basic on/off button; no need to experiment with the numerous options other printers provide: Just pick the paper type and size and you're fine.- Economical

Disadvantages: Nothing I can think of.

A few additional comments:- Use nothing but Canon Photo Paper Pro for your prints. Costs about the same as the Epson paper, but the results in quality are remarkable. It's still difficult to find the paper even online, Canon's site is the only one I found that has both sizes (4x6, 8.5x11). For the 4x6 size, make sure you buy the borderless type, not the perforated type.- Canon introduced the S820 with three other printers. All seem to have the same photo quality, with the following differences:* The S820D Can print directly out of memory cards.* The S900 Faster (8x10 in 1 minute)* The S9000 Faster, plus can print up to 13x19I do not think any of these features are worth the extra $$: Though I have a digital camera, I still like printing out of the PC, and I'm happy with the S820's speed as it is.

This is perhaps my best IT purchase in a long time. I couldn't recommend a product more than the s820. Not surprised that most of the online shops are out of stock so quickly...

5Great Printer for an Affordable Price
By Xam
I needed a new inkjet printer and wanted something high-quality but also below $200. So I surfed the web and looked over many websites and reviews. I gathered that the Canon S series is the best for the money. The Canon S520 features four separate ink tanks so you can replace individual colors as they run out, which will save you money in the long run. It's also a fast printer, but I'm not usually in much of a hurry to print something. If you print a picture in high-quality resolution it can take a little longer (still quite speedy), but the results are fabulous. I've only used cheap plain paper so far, but photos and graphics still look really great. I'm sure it would look even better on higher quality paper. Also, plain text was printed very crisply as well, no complaints in that department. The printer is even really quiet, it makes very little noise. Overall I was really happy with this Canon S520 printer; it prints great looking color graphics/photos and it's pretty cheap, quiet and fast. I really can't find any fault with this printer, it's performed beyond expectations. Top-quality color inkjet printer - 5 STARS!

5Great printer for the money
By A Customer
OK, I did a fair amount of research for printers in this price range and cheaper. I banged along on an old Epson 400 for years until my upgrade to XP left me without a driver. I thought about replacing it with another Epson but caught wind of too many hit and miss problems with quality control and customer service.Setup was quite easy. The printer is quick by my standards, shooting out a text draft that to me I would not be ashamed to send to anyone. I put in a sheet of high end photo paper and was very impressed with the results, though I did not buy it for that purpose. I like using the parallel port and saving an available USB port. In addition, I put an envelope in to print, a procedure I dreaded with the old Epson. Slick as a whistle, out came a clean smudge free envelope. I like the idea of individual ink tanks though I've not had to deal with a refill. I've had the printer a few weeks now and am very happy with it! Minor negative is the output tray. It has a concave design wich was well thought out, but the lip that attaches to the printer is shallow and if bumped will detach and spill your contents. Once I found it was vulnerable, I'm now careful not to bump it. That said, I'd buy it again!

4I found one after 2 months of searching

I have to say that I was quite impressed by the canon s520. I spent 2 months reviewing and researching all the other printers, HP, Epson etc and for the price range canon s520 topped the lot. I was going to buy the s750, but I couldn't afford it, so for a midrange price, the canon s520 is the top in it's league. The installation went like a breeze, canon made the instructions simple enough that a 10yo could install the thing, although there's not enough instructions for the additional software that came with it(the photo imaging software), the default was the 3 options were all selected, but I wanted only to install the necessary, in the end I installed all 3 products. The pluses are:- one of the cheapest printers to run in cents per page, Epson c80 also matches canon s520, but the Epson costs...more to purchase in the first place- fast efficient printer- colour printing is unreal- separate ink tanks, for ink saving and cost efficiency, unreal! I looked at the other printers that had separate ink tanks, and the prices to purchase those printers, were way above my budget.- it's not that noisy as other printersAlthough this is my first colour printer, I was amazed at how close the colours were to the real thing. I've been printing out digital photo pics. Black and white text, perfect. I used standard ordinary paper, there was no blotching, no smudging or anything. Some things I noticed that was a bit annoying:- when it prints it shakes the whole table, I have a wooden table, and it's pretty sturdy, when I'm printing while typing away on my keyboard it feels like a mini-mini earthquake.- it takes about 10 seconds plus to initialise the print. The printer makes all these wizzing noises, and you have to wait a while before the first page shoots out, but then it's lightning fast.- oh yes the power cable is short as, it's about the length of two keyboards if not shorter. I had to buy an extension lead. I would have given it a 5star except those 2 points, did annoy me. "You can on a Canon, really it's true"
