5Old standard, new improvements
By neurotome
This is Kensington's old Turbomouse, updated for the Web era. I use it on my OS X Mac, and I'm pleased to report it works just as well as the three other Kensington trackballs I've used over the last 12 years. They never break - they just go obsolete when Apple changes their connector.

This one is fully USB for modern computers, and shares the same easy configuration and good software as its predecessors. The heavy ball with progressive speed control is so good and so easy to use, you'll wonder why the mouse was ever invented. And with a proper wristrest, this thing is the carpal tunnel savior - it's so kind on the wrists; you have barely to flick your fingers to do all your mousing. And if you're a gamer, especially Quake or Unreal, you'll love how this improves your aiming accuracy!

What's new? Well, this trackball has 4 easy-clicky buttons, and you can set what each does - all the same (single-click), or different. I have mine set to singleclick (lower left), control-click (lower-right), double-click (top left), and I don't use the top right one, because my fingers don't naturally fall there.

There's also a rubberized scroll wheel, which is cool mostly for reading text. It's positioned right to roll it with your middle finger.

There are 6 'web buttons' across the top - you can set 'em to load various URLs, open apps, or pretty much do whatever you like - but I don't use 'em. Don't need 'em.

The unit is fully ambidextrous and has great ergonomics. It is heavy and sits on non-skid feet, but it does need a flat surface to rest on. There is also a wireless version available - but why?? I don't see the point - it's not like you ever move your trackball anyway. It sits there, so you might as well plug it in and save on the RF transceiver, which I hear is prone to interference from microwave ovens anyway.

Replacement balls are available; I've seen red, blue, silver, grey, and transparent ones full of glitter or plastic fish. The unit is fairly easy to clean, but it was easier when you could take off the backplate screws and get inside. Junk just tends to build up on the ball's contact wheels and they need to be scraped every so often. And you won't want to use this trackball while you're eating pizza with your mouse hand - it'll become slippery and start skipping.

In short, this is the only mousing equipment I'd ever consider using - the Cadillac of trackballs - and I highly recommend you buy it right now!

3I want to love it, but it's a little quirky.
By T. Kelley
I use one of the older Kensington trackballs at work and absolutely love the thing. I felt confident in buying this one despite some of the reviews knocking the lighter trackball and its effect on the movement of the cursor. I'm writing this review just a few minutes after installing the new mouse, and I have to agree with the critics. The trackball is lighter, and although the up-down movement is good, the side-to-side is quite spotty. I'm going to work with the Turbo Mouse Pro and see if it loosens up a bit for me and the movement becomes more fluid. Otherwise, it's pretty nice. The scroll wheel works well, the buttons are a nice feature, and it's even kind of cool looking. I really want to believe in this product, so I hope it improves as I "work it in". I'll get back to you later on this.UPDATE: I've been using this product for a few weeks now, and the movement is not as smooth as I would have hoped. It moves up and down okay, but gets hung up on the side-to-side motion unless I press down pretty hard or wiggle the ball back and forth. I'll use it for awhile longer, but I don't think this is going to change. If you can deal with this quirk, this is a pretty good product. If not, consider this a "ZERO STARS" item and don't buy it.

5Wonderful Company!
By David Caudill
The Turbo Mouse Pro is a great trackball! It works well, is easy to configure (on both the Mac & PC - I have one on each) and is very well made. The Kensington company has excellent tech support and when I had a problem, they went above and beyond the waranty to make sure that I was a satisfied customer. I highly recommend purchasing from them.

5Surebert

This mailbox with post looks great at the street and compliments our house. I like that it is heavy molded plastic as we had vandals crunch our metal one. The letter door clicks closed magnetically and secure. I love having the extra compartment for the newspaper so it's not lying in the rain or snow. My husband said it doesn't belong on our street, and I asked "Where does it belong?" He named a more affluent neighborhood in town!

5Step 2 mailbox
By mommasgotathing1
Absolutely love it!!!!! This really dresses up our house a little more. Our house is gray with dark gray trim and the mailbox is gray with dark gray door and flag. Matches perfectly! Easy to install! I did it myself without any help from my husband. Dug the hole, poured the concrete, set the post and the next day slipped the mailbox over the post and screwed in place. Too easy!! Love it!!!!

5Vinyl color fades
By Paul M. Kankula
After 15 years of harsh southern sun, the color of my old mailbox had faded a little -- to be expected. My wife complained, so I simply replaced my mailbox with a new same model. After removing my old mailbox, it's obvious that the thing would have lasted for another 15-25 years! This is a high quality made product! It certainly did not need to be replaced because something had broke.

4Good Customer Service, GREAT PRICE
By WeekendMedic
Bought this item to drive several displays on long cables around a fire station. Unit failed after 20 days of operation, called StarTech and they replaced it without question. Big surprise - I paid $60 for my unit, the replacement required a short term hold on my credit card until they received the failed one back - hold was for $120. Glad it all worked out, new unit has been in continuous use for 3 months with no issues.

5Our Second
By Nuke
We had this exact mailbox for a decade until it was razed accidentally and we had to buy a new one. We liked it so much we bought the exact same model to replace it. Stone Gray is a little misleading, it is really more like Tan, and it fades very slightly over the years. It is sturdy enough to stand up to snow plows. It comes with all of the hardware and numbers; everything but a post. We really like the look and the price is very competitive.

5Continues to be an excellent mailbox
By Joel Sherman
This was a replacement for our original Step2 mailbox which was over 10 years old, lasting until first injured by snowplows and then destroyed by vandals. They hadn't changed it and the new one fit right over the old still intact post. An easy replacement and good value.

5Step 2 Mailbox & Newspaper Holder
By Grandma Linda
Love the color which states stone gray, but more of a tannish gray. It has a bit of a narrow mail holder compared to our old one taken by a plow. The magnets seem to be stronger so it stays shut well. The lower opening for the newspaper has a nice backing so the paper is better protected from the weather. It came with 2 sheets of stick on numbers which was a bonus. The price was great on Amazon, especially with the free ship!

5This is the only reliable way to add serial ports to modern computers
By yuhop
Use of USB to RS232 adapters is highly controversial. In case of removing the adapters from USB ports, computer "forgets" COM port assignments.I have experienced also driver conflicts. Use of the PCI-RS232 adapters resolves all these problems at once. These adapters operate in the way of "install and forget" and are very reliable. I use two of these for several months without a single glitch.

We are very pleased with our new mailbox. It looks great because it is built very well. The opening in back allows us to get our mail without going outside our gate. My husband was able to replace the old mailbox with the Step 2 Mailmaster in maybe 30 minutes. We like it and would recommend it.

4Good box
By Mail carrier
I'm a mail carrier, and I see all types of mail boxes. I just wanted to provide a little perspective.I like these boxes for people that get a normal amount of mail. This is durable, weather resistant, and needs next to nothing in the way of maintenance. Good. The magnets do hold the doors shut well, no problems even in wind. I have seen the tops of these boxes blasted loose by snow plows, but it's rare indeed. I can't tell from the photos about this one, but I've seen some assembled with plastic screws that can break with a snow blast. In a rare situation, the entire top of the box can be blown off the stand. That seems to only happen on the highway, though. As a mail recipient, please make sure both doors are shut at all times. It's puzzling to me to see that back door standing open for days on end, during rain and snow, causing issues for me as I try to keep the mail safe and dry. I cannot reach it from my side to close it.However, if you tend to send or receive large amounts of mail or packages, PLEASE consider getting the biggest, largest, most durable box you can find. Search for "jumbo" here on Amazon. Please. During Christmas season, as we fight poor weather, massive mail and parcel loads, the fewer times we get out of our vehicles, the better. Better for us, better for you the mail recipient. The more packages that fit safely inside, the less times we find no one home, and have to either find a safe place to leave a package, or have to haul it back to the post office, and write up a "sorry we missed you" note.

3Nice product, but careless work by the factory needed correction
By Spanky Chinaski
-- The shipped base column was for a narrower model of mailbox and did not fit. A very helpful woman at Step2 support (1-800-347-8372) arranged to ship the correct base and have the wrong one picked up by FedEx.-- Had to trim some plastic flash off the bottom of the rear door so it would close (door not properly fitted to the box).-- Had to add three metal washers above the rear door latch magnet to lower it to match the door metal plate.-- The magnets seem weak, thinking about getting better ones if there's a wind problem.-- Once installed, the box seems sturdy and looks nice. Would I buy another? Maybe, but I'd shop around first.

4Very good, but it could have been better
By Ninoslav Tomlinovic
First of all, I believe this product should be complemented with a good joystick, CH Fighterstick being the first choice. Of course, it can function alone, but I really can't think of any situation where one would need a throttle without a joystick.

The device is extremely light compared to similar units. The resistance, however, is slightly stronger, making some kind of fixing it to the table almost mandatory. Either that or you'll have to push it down every time you move it, so the friction does the stabilizing.

The motion is linear rather than arcing, which requires some time getting used to. I'm still not sure if this was a good decision.

There is a number of hat switches and buttons on the throttle and you'll probably never run out of them. Their placing, however, is not as good as with Cougar's throttle, for example. In my opinion, an ergonomic rework of the unit would be beneficial. In any case, if you need more buttons, programming options make further possibilities almost infinite.

There is also a microstick which is quite useful, but there are no dials. A minus, as modern flight sims make good use of dial controls.

Programming abilities are exceptional and belong to the very top. Complemented with CH Fighterstick, there is no other equipment to rival it.

As with other CH gear, the feel is somewhat toyish, but don't be fooled by it - this is a quality product and it will last very long time.

Verdict: Fine product to complement your CH gear. Reliable, with great programming abilities, but it could have been even better with dials, arcing motion and somewhat improved ergonomics.

5Don't know what I did without it!
By A Customer
This is an amazing product, it truly transforms your flight sim experience. I had been used to the simple [$$] joysticks with the throttle as a little nob on the side of the thing. This, as part of a HOTAS system (like another CH products jostick), is just worlds apart -- they give you about a bazillion 4-way hat switches, which I use to increment prop pitch, fuel mixtures, supercharger stages, flaps, &c, and three buttons on the front. They also have an interesting mini-joystick, which theoretically one could use as a mouse, although I haven't gotten that to work -- but it is useful for other sorts of analog-action motions, such as the rudder control.

The motion is smooth and stable, and it has a large enough base that it doesn't slip around when you're

5Works as advertised...did not disappoint
By Peter S. Lee
I had the analog game port predecessor to this throttle and it was the ONLY reason I felt any sadness when controllers all went to USB because I could not continue to use that throttle. It was solid as a rock. When my Saitek X35 control system began to give up the ghost after many years of Falcon 4 Allied Force sessions, I looked back to see what had become of the CH Throttle. The upgrade to USB has been very kind to this device.Pros: 1) I love the feel of the throttle. It is solid in your hand, slides easily and for me all buttons are within easy reach 2) The programming software is immensely powerful! I was totally blown away at what you can make this throttle do in the way of programmability...especially if you have any other CH gear (I have the CH Fighterstick but no rudder pedals). 3) There is a control on the throttle you can use as a rudder (if like me you don't want to shell out for pedals just yet). Everyone has their preferences, but I HATE having the joystick "twist" be a rudder control...too many times you try to push forward and left on the stick and you end up moving the rudder unintentionally. One reason I loved my Saitek X35 was that it had a "rocker" switch on the throttle that was PERFECT for rudder. Please note that the CH Fighterstick DOES NOT have a joystick "twist" on it...so that cannot double as a rudder control even if you wanted it to. I only mention that because many times the CH Fighterstick is teamed up with this throttle (which is what I bought as well). 4) If it matters to you, the drivers and software are available as far back as Windows 98 and as far forward as Windows 7. I still run Falcon 4 Allied force on a trusty Windows 2000 machine and am thrilled that there are drivers for that O/S! 5) I like that fact that it is made in America.Cons: 1) I think the base should have a bit more weight to it. It can slide fairly easily on a desk if you don't use a light touch (which is a good thing to develop anyway...a light touch). If you like to slam your controllers one way and another, I think it will slide around on you. Just keep all four rubber pads on the desk and develop a lighter touch and it performs great. 2) The programming software is very powerful...but if you haven't used any controller programming software before, their documentation is very light for the newbie. If you HAVE used programming software for controllers before, just use the help screens to see how the CH software works. The help screens are a good reference, but I think they could have supplied a bit more in the way of helping a first-time user/programmer of their throttle. 3) Purists will note that the throttle is a linear "forward and back" sliding motion. I've read that some people find that a bit annoying as it is unrealistic to many aircraft throttles. They are used to the "arc" that you get with other throttle controllers (indeed, my trusty Saitek had an "arc" in its motion as well). I found it took about FIVE MINUTES to get used to the motion of this controller, so for me it was not a big deal. Your mileage may vary! 4) I love the throttle, but even I will admit that it looks like something made in the late 90s. It is certainly not as "flashy" looking as more recent throttles, so if that matters to you then you may be disappointed. For me, I care only about the feel and performance, but I know others feel differently so I thought I should point that out.Suggestions for newbies to game controller programming:1) If you have never used software to program a joystick and/or throttle before, let me make a suggestion...the first time you play with this controller and the software DO NOT set up a "shift key" or use the different "modes." It will dramatically decrease the number of options you will have to choose from when programming a particular button or switch, and that will lessen the chance that you will get "overwhelmed" by the multitude of choices you have in the software for any given switch. Once you are comfortable with no shift and no modes, then try adding the shift key. Last add the modes.2) Use the help screens in the software. They are not the best organized for someone who has never done it before, but be patient and keep reading. The information you need IS in there, but you may have to hunt around to find it a bit.I am sorry that I cannot tell you what it is like to try to program this throttle as a newbie because I am a software engineer by trade...I already know how software developers think and I have also programmed other throttles before. Even so, I think that the time required to learn the programming software will not be very great, and that it will increase your enjoyment of this product many times over.

4Works well, looks good.
By Dexbet
Works really well with the exception of the rear door. Magnet not strong enough. It by chance you don't bring the mail in one day, the post delivery person will just shove the new mail in and force the previous mail out the back door. Am going to put a small screw in to keep the back door from opening.

By Hank
Well worth the money. Great product for a great price at Amazon. What a shame that UPS destroyed the box,,,,,,thank goodness the mailbox is made of tough, durable plastic. Hopefully, Amazon will use other shippers for large items in the future.

5Mailmaster Plus
By Bigmo59
Product was easy to assemble. Snap in the door on the bock of the box for the newspaper/flyers under the mailbox, screw the mailbox to the post and mount the mailbox to a 4x4 in the ground. Done. If you don't want to dig a hole for the wood post, there is an option to buy a metal spike that you hammer into the ground and the 4x4 mounts to the metal spike. Design improvement - The screws that hold the mailbox on to the post now screw in from the outside of the mailbox. The older model had the screws on the inside of the box.

5looks aren't everything
By Ninoslav Tomlinovic
Being a long time flight simmer and after using many different joysticks, throttles and pedals, I finally tried this one.

With my last stick being the TM Cougar, I learned to appreciate softer springs, precision and overall reliability. Most of these were missing with my one year old Cougar which now seems was all about looks.

Being made by dedicated flight simming accessories company, CH Fighterstick seems to be one of less known secrets of hardcore sim crowd.

At first, I was suspicious because of its plastic feel. The stick is big enough even for large hands, while people with smaller hands may find it somewhat uncofortable.

Springs are very light. This is a plus for me, as it allows higher precision, especially near the center. You don't get to wrestle the springs during your flying. It has great throw, so there is a lot of room for precision input throughout the range of motion.

Trim wheels for both axes help even in simulations without trim controls. Smart stuff.

There is a throttle wheel at the base of the stick. If you have a throttle, this wheel can be mapped to another function, but you won't be able to reach it without letting your hand off the trottle or stick.

Software is excellent and it actually rivals the software being shipped with the Cougar. As with the stick itself, at first it looks toyish. After a while you learn its huge capabilities.

Verdict: The best high end joystick out there - precision, programming abilities, reliability and simplicity being its trump cards.

5The best PC joystick on the market !
By CeeTee
I have owned the CH Products Fighterstick for a little over a month now and I am now ready to compose a full review. I have been a MS Sidewinder force feedback2 user for years. I was very happy with that stick but when I started playing Lock On I decided that it was time to step up to the plate and purchase a real HOTAS system. At first glance the fighterstick appears to be built to last. It is constructed of very heavy gauge plastic and all of the devices seams are sealed properly. It is not flimsy or fragile in appearance or feel. The stick only comes with an instruction sheet. There is no owners Manual or software disk included. The new owner must download the drivers and CH Control Manager software from the CH website. Setup is a very simple operation which involves plugging your stick into it's own USB port and running the drivers software. Setup was completed without a hitch and I did not miss the absent owners Manuel. I then proceeded to use the CH Manager software to configure the stick for the first time. It was at this time that I encountered my first and only problem while using the software. While attempting to configure the Y axis I noticed that the stick's signal would jump from one end of the scale to the other with very little movement from the stick itself. I could not figure out what the problem was on my own so I called CH customer service and they told me to be sure and center the two trim wheels before configuration. Sure enough after I corrected the position of the two wheels, the configuration process was completed without a problem.Next, I ran Lock On in order to put the stick through it's first flight trials. The Fighterstick fits my medium sized hand very well. My only complaint is the fact that button #2 is located very high on the stick and is hard for me to reach without repositioning my hand. I believe this is due to the fact that this stick is based on the design of the F-16 joystick configuration. The problem with this choice of design styles is that the real F-16 stick is mounted between the legs and at about waist height inside the cockpit, where as the CH Fighterstick will be mounted on some ones desktop. This creates an ergonomic problem that the F-16 design was not meant to handle. Beside my issue with button #2, I have experienced no other problems with manipulation of the stick ingame.Stick response and accuracy are very good. I can pull all kinds of high "G" maneuvers, fire all kinds of weapons and deploy my counter measures with a level of speed and accuracy that I have never experienced before. All the buttons work as programmed and the x/y axis is very smooth. Some say that the springs in the stick base are very lite. I don't feel that there is anything unusual or loose concerning the feel of this stick. I am very comfortable with the level of tension in the stick. Keep in mind that I have been working with the Sidewinder up to this point and that this may be the reason why I don't have a problem with the level of tension in the stick.CH Control Manager is a wonderful program that gives you the ability to adjust all of the sticks important settings. It also allows you to create your own personal button program maps which can be loaded or saved for future use. CH Control Manager does not come with a tutorial so you will need to consult with an experienced user in order to fill in the blanks left after you have read the online user guide, as I did. After asking a few questions on an internet user forum I was ready to begin programing the stick for the first time. Once you know how to use it, CH Control Manager is a joy to work with. However it is not as intuitive as I would have liked it to have been. The CH products Fighterstick is considered the top of the line PC flight controller. Unlike Thrustmaster's best stick it doesn't have any outstanding quality control issues. The Fighterstick has an excellent maintenance record and I am confident that it will last me for many years of flight siming fun.Update: I stand corrected on the position of the stick in the real F-16, however I stand by my criticism of the feel of the stick when used in the desktop position. Thanks to the PC cockpit I now use, I no longer experience this problem.

3CH Not what it used to be
By Blackwolf
I am a long time flight simmer, and back in the early days I owned several of CH's joysticks, along with their throttle and rudder pedals. At that time, they were simply the best one could get.Due to various factors, I did not have the money to buy CH when WinXP came out and forced everyone to switch to USB, but that recently changed, and I was very glad at the time to have the opportunity to once again use what I thought would be the best gear. However, I have found that they are not what they used to be. The stick I received would not return to center properly, and slowly grew worse over time. At first it was simply a matter of setting a small deadband, but it grew worse enough that even deadband wouldn't help. Along with this, it would not hold steady, and needed constant correction.I filled out the customer service request form on their web page, and still have not received an answer, after over a week. I also have called and been put on hold each time for over half an hour(at my expense)and still have not gotten to speak with anyone. So I can testify that their customer service, which at one time was top notch, has declined sharply as well.I was finally able to repair the stick myself, after following instructions from an outside forum, which involved having to disassemble the unit and rebuild it due to a large amount of backlash from a very improper fit of the pots. This is simply unacceptable in a stick of this price.I am sorry to have to write a review such as this, as CH used to be the best you could get, both in terms of quality as well as service. In addition, the design has not changed in over a decade, and there are much more comfortable sticks, as well as much more accurate ones, for less money. I would love to see CH come back to where they were, and if they did, I would be first in line to buy their products. But I cannot recommend this stick to anyone in the current state of things, unless they have the technical skill to modify and repair it to make it work like it should.I gave it three stars only because of it's potential once rebuilt and repaired.
