The Passageway to LOADS of fun!

My son received the Mountain Tunnel Set as an introduction to the Thomas & Friends line, and as the Mountain Tunnel is the focus of the set, it's been a favorite piece. Since that time, William's received other destinations that he's built into the set, yet for months he preferred that the tunnel remain on the table. Now that we've added an Expansion Pack to his railway set, the Mountain Tunnel has taken a backseat to some of the other bridges, and destinations.As I mentioned in my review of the set, the track will fall off the Ascending Track Risers. I was able to rectify this situation by placing a small piece of satin finish giftwrap tape under the track, so it would adhere to the risers. Now, anytime we layout the set with the Ascending Track I make sure the tape is ready, and waiting.The tunnel is a fun piece to add to any set, but I warn any potential buyers that it is BIG. Measure your available space before purchasing. Also, in order for the railway cars to reach the second level of play one must possess a pair of Ascending Tracks. In addition, the Ascending Track Risers, which support the track, are recommended as well. These are certainly worthwhile pieces of track as we've built other bridges with both, but it does add up if you don't happen to own the track items.The overall quality of the Thomas & Friends products is excellent, and the Mountain Tunnel is no exception. If you have a builder in your midst, it's certainly worth the money in my view.

Dissapointing

While the mountain is a nice centerpiece to a train layout. It is a little impractical since it is hard to layout track going through the middle level that doesnt interfere with track going in the bottom level. Also the middle level uses these little plastic tabs to support the track which have very quickly gotten bent/stretched so that the middle level supports dont work well anymore. This makes track connected to the middle level a little too low and results in trains getting stuck while going through the lower level. I am dissapointed in the quality of this item from learning curve. It needed to be a little taller so that trains could get through the bottom level without getting stuck and they should have had better support tabs for the middle level and you should be able to connect the two large sides together without the middle section. I would recommend looking around for the hill and mountain expansion set instead of this if you want mountains in your layout.

Really fun but hard to use in layouts

The mountain tunnel is a very fun piece - it has three levels (which I don't think any other thomas piece does). It is definitely a layout "centerpiece" in that it is the biggest, most central part of the set-up.The problem I have is that it's a little TOO hard to use in layouts. Of course, there are some pre-fabricated ones that look lovely and are loads of fun for the kids, but trying to use the mountain and incorporate other destinations one has is a bit difficult - especially if you are trying to get the layout to fit on a table.Another reason I took some stars off was because if you take out the center middle piece, you can't connect the two mountain sides. That would have made this piece a bit more usable because you wouldn't have had to cover six entrances and exits!I bought this for my two year old for his birthday, and although it makes ocassional apperances on the table, he usually just ends up playing with it by itself on the floor.

Multi-use

Love this fun rocker/bench. My 4 and [...] old have a blast. You need to have kids with the same weight though for the rocker to be balanced. My 4 yr old and her 4 yr old cousin love it. My kids use the bench for meals, snacks, craft time and for their tea parties. Initially my [...] old fell backwards trying to stand up,(good thing their playroom has foam flooring), but now she understands how to get on and off of the bench and has not had any other occurances.

GREAT! Kids love it!

This is such a great bench! My kids LOVE to be able to sit at it. My 2 year old is LOVING it. It was super easy to put together. It seems very durable too. It's heavy duty, but light weight enough to flip easily. My 2 year old is a little scared to sit on the bench seats and rock, but loves to sit on the under side of the table and let me rock him. He LOVES it. they play hide and seek under the table, color, eat etc all with this. I wished I'd had it earlier when my 11 year old was little.

This is Great!

I bought this for my 5 year old son yesterday. He already loves and has many Rescue Hero's. He loves airplanes, thanks to my husbands job. I can not say enough about this plane. I like the fact is different from all the other planes he has. It has 2 clamps that can either hide under the nose or be out on the side. The clamps are easy to pop in and out . The legs store easily also! I like the handle it has to make it easier to pretend you are flying it. It is very durable, just like his other Resue Hero toys. The size of it is nice also. I think it was worth the price. My son has not stopped playing with it since we brought it him. It's another must have!

Economic Beauty

I was awarded this surprise for Christmas and was amazed at how nice the picture actually looked. Its very unassuming and with the right cables( Vga for both Xbox 360 and PS3) I got it to go 1080i and well lets just say between some Halo 3 and Little Big Planet @ over 65"(goes up to 300" *yipes*) plus Im not sure i'll ever get rid of this thing.

Puzzle

When I received this puzzle form Amazon I wondered how the fit so many puzzles in such a moderately sized box. How they did it is that each puzzle is in the same box. They have 8 compartments (which are separated by cardboard dividers). Luckily the backs of the puzzles are color coded so that even if they get mixed it is quick and easy to sort them out.

The downside of these puzzles is that they are about half the thickness of your average puzzle piece, thus they damage easily. Also the shapes seem to be almost cookie cutter puzzle pieces. There is little variety in piece size or shape.

NEC has now fixex MY COMPUTER

SHORTLY AFTER POSTING THE FOLLOWING REVIEW A NEC REPRESENTATIVE CONTACTED ME TO INFORM ME THAT THEY HAD CHANGED THEIR MIND AND THEY THEN FIXED AND RETURNED MY COMPUTER. IT'S WORKING GREAT.

A warning to anyone who is purchasing a NEC product. NEC has taken possession of my handheld computer and then blamed it on me.In November of 2001 I eagerly opened my re-manufactured NEC MobilePro 790 which I purchased at a very reasonable price over the internet.

I enjoyed using it. It served as an easily used companion to my main computer. I could easily carry it to me to meetings and write notes. It much easier than a laptop because of it's light weight but more useful than the smaller handhelds because it has a decent sized adequate keyboard.

But there was a problem. I would go to turn it on after being putting it away for a day or two and it would fail to respond.

I called NEC multiple times and they taught me how to reboot it but soon this did not work and then they taught me how to remove the battery and again reboot it. One problem. I would loose all the stored information.

I again called and was advised to be sure to back up and this I faithfully did. Fortunately the computer information was easy to back up with the use of Microsoft ActiveSync.

This worked fine most of the time but was unreliable so I then purchased a CompactFlash for storage.

By being sure I saved my work to the compact flash card and by using Microsoft ActiveSync I no longer lost critical information but I was unable to dependably take advantage of the Mobilepro's other features such as the address book and calender.

I called again and was advised that since my computer was under warranty to send it in for repair.

This I did. I soon received a phone call from Joan Forster stating the cost of repair would not be under warranty and was approximately what I originally paid for it. She explained that the problem was water damage. When I tried to explain that the problem started from the date of purchase this NEC representative was extremely rude and objected to listen. When I asked to be transferred to her supervisor she said that she was the senior supervisor and refused to connect me to anyone else. I Later contacted Michael Rains but he simply referred the matter back to Joan Forster who again refused to consider the possibility that the handheld was defective from date of purchase. When I delayed agreeing to the repair price and then I did not accept the defective product back she wrote me a letter stating that it was now their property.

NEC still has my handheld.

Just a warning. It may be a very useful tool but if it is defective they will blame it on you and not cover it under warranty.

NEC Mobilepro

This machine is great!, I'm sorry to here about the other persons experience and i'll think about it in the future , but I have to say that this machine is simple yet fantastic it has most of the features of my highend laptop but none of the hassles of use although one thing I would like to point out is that I was unable to sync it with my laptop because my laptop doesn't have serial ports and also I have Windows Xp and some people are saying xp won't work with active sync but I have a good solution for this problem ,you can get a Compact Flash card reader for $7-$20 and a flash card for $20 AND TRANSFER ANY DATA TO ANY COMPUTER , I hope all the people with HP Jornadas are listening too because many people give up as soon as they hear NO USB . now back to what I was saying get one of these , it is about triple the size of a Palm Pilot so if you want something tiny this isn't for you but if you do alot of data input you'll love it as much as other Mobilepro users trust me ,Oh and be prepared for people interupting you to say how great the thing is good luck .

Mobilepro from a Pro

I purchased a refurbished Mobilepro 780 through Amazon from a real pro(fessional) and write this review because I simply feel good about this experience. I was interested in a handheld with a good keyboard, largely to write journal entries and letters on the move, had heard about the Nec and HP versions, found that HP no longer produced their Jornada and that Nec still produced one for about $1000, read a lot of very mixed reviews, got scared and almost turned-off despite some good prices on used/refurbished machines, and happened upon "llewyn" as the seller of several models, noticed his incredibly positive reviews (96% five stars) and decided to proceed, gingerly. I am glad I did.I started by writing an email to Larry Lewyn, asking questions about what might fit my purpose. He wrote back a very thorough, thoughtful and well-written response. After a few more exchanges of email, I bought one of his Nec Mobilepro 780s through Amazon. The price was good, but even more important the service was outstanding. He shipped my computer quickly, it came with lots of software that he had developed or installed, a full backup CD which also included not only the complete documentation but several short pieces with helpful hints, and all the necessary hookups. Inevitably, being a computer novice, I had questions (e.g. about transferring files from my Mobilepro to my desktop). Larry answered my questions quickly and with the same thoughtfulness and thoroughness that he had done before I bought from him.In short, this guy is a real professional, obviously knows his stuff, takes pride in communicating it clearly, cares about his buyers and their satisfaction, and keeps himself available for follow-up. I don't think there are many entrepreneurs like him anymore, where service really does come first. I have no idea about what else he does in life, but he certainly puts himself into his handhelds and serving his customers.I am sure this sounds overblown, but simply having found and experienced this seller provides a lift to the spirits. I think he's one of those people you would really like to meet, but probably never will.What more can I say? Whenever I look to buy things from the internet, Amazon, even small entrepreneurs anywhere, I am going to be looking for a Larry Lewyn.
