Used Apple Studio Display. Shows display in multiple resolutions from 600x800 to 1280x1024. Picture and screen are clear. Frame may have scratches or nicks from normal wear and tear. Easy-on-the-eyes

I was initially unsettled about the thought of buying a flat panel display because of the nature of the color critical work I am required to do; especially after seeing other flat panels in action at CompUSA, Circuit City, ect. Also, a flat panel seems more of a luxury than a need to get work finished. But, post-purchase, I could not be more satisfied with this display. Now, when I use any CRT display, it appears fuzzy and out of focus. I love my new display and it is well worth the cost!

This display is terrific!

I have one of these displays that I use at work, and think that it is the best thing since sliced bread! Apple has done an amazing job. The brightness and clarity are absolutely brilliant. I love that it has only the one cable, which carries power, video, and USB signal all in one. It makes for a nice clean work area, without all those ugly cords for power, video, and USB. But then again, that is no surprise, because you can tell that Apple truly cares about beauty, as well as performance. My hats off to Apple!!

At least as good as anybody else's LCD

Let's see, there are too many cool things about this display. It costs about the same as any of the other premium LCD panels at this size (you can get a cheaper one, but you usually give up contrast, viewing angle, or speed). You get a single cable attachment to your Power Mac (carries video, power, and USB) which saves a lot of clutter. You get a pair of USB ports on the monitor which most others don't offer, despite it's convenience. And it just looks too darn cool on the desk next to the Power Mac.

Quick and Silver

Not only does the outer case design make this a work of art, the sheer power of this computer is astounding. I have had one since the initial release this summer, and I am constantly surprised by the performance of this computer is applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Director - not to mention blistering frame rates in Quake III and Unreal Tournament.The onboard superdrive makes burning any DVD/CD very easy, although you might want to pick up Titanium Toast 5 if you are planning on creating end-market cross-platform multimedia. Spend the extra money and get one of the Apple LCD displays. The screen image is simply amazing.I would not hesitate to recommend this computer to anyone.

Got OS 10.1 & above? Look no further for your perfect Mac!

I've had the Dual 800 since early September, and it's amazing how quick it is under 10.1 -- forget just wondering about programs optimized for dual processors, the OS itself will take great advantage of this model's dual PowerPC system. Everything executes quickly, from program opening (most at a single "bounce") to printing (I hardly tap the "enter" key and my printer is reacting).

Cram it with RAM (dirt cheap these days) and pair it with an Apple Cinema Display, and you've got the ultimate modern Macintosh. There is no Mac available (as of October 30, 2001) that is better than the Dual 800.

Schwing!

I've had this baby for about 4 months now... what a delight. Adjacent to my G4 is a Dell 1.3ghz Pentium III. The clock speed means nada. I fire them up at the same time each morning and about a full minute after the Mac is busy opening applications for me, the Pentium is just starting to show the icons on the desktp. As chip architecture gets improved, you're going to see the Win-Tel crowd also saying that "clock speed doesn't matter" because newer Intel chips will be rated at 300mhz, but be faster than the 1.3gig P3 chips.

To compare a Mac and a Wintel machine is like comparing a pick axe to a chainsaw. Each have their uses, levels of complexity and levels of simplicity.

The dual processor won't do you a heck of a lot of good if you never use OS X. Only a couple of OS 9 apps utilize the dual processors.... OS X is all over that bad boy.

For now, I still work 90% of the time in Classic mode, but this machine still sings. I haven't had one lock-up or crash since I bought this computer. The standard keyboard has been improved and fits normal human adult hands. The power key on the keyboard has been replaced by an eject key, and next to that are "volume up," "volume down," and "mute" buttons for quick volume access.

The CPU is beautiful, stylish and easy to carry. The built-in speaker is classy and delivers decent sound for an internal speaker.

If you're a grahic artist, designer or web developer, this is the machine for you. Using programs like Photoshop and Illustrator in a Windows environment is just clumsy and awkward... graphics programs are meant to run on a Mac.

This is also the best choice for those wanting to create their own movies, CDs, mp3 collections and DVDs. No extra hardware or software to buy... just plug in your camcorder, CD or mp3 player and go! Easy, trouble free, and Koko the Gorilla could add RAM to this machine... no screwdrivers... just open up the latch and snap in your memory. This is the best computer I've ever used.

Great Product / Avoid when Wet.

This is an excellent, but overpriced product! This product lets you play music from your computer to your FM Radio on any stereo! This product is a system that comes with two units a transmitter that you plug into your computer that transmits a radio signal to the receiver up to 1000 feet away! This receiver sits near your stereo up to 10 feet away from it and can even be plugged into the stereo directly. No additional equipment / computer components / technical experience are needed, just plug the transmitter into your computer's soundcard and sit the receiver near your stereo. The two units are small a little bigger than a man's fist. There are drawbacks however, such as rain, if there is a rain or haze around your house, it will not work at all! Also this item is very overpriced considering that back in the 70s people used this same system to transmit a microphone to an FM radio for only $20.

A nice option for a difficult need

I was looking for a way to get the free internet radio I get with my cable internet service routed to my outdoor stereo by the pool. My first choice was a Wi-Fi audio adapter, but the only ones that would function in a system without a video screen ( like the netgear wireless digital music system) did not support the WPA encryption I have in my home wireless system. Enter the Kima Akoo. The product consists of a broadcasting unit that attaches to your computer through the headphone jack, and a reciever unit that connects to your reciever or radio. I actually ordered a similar unit made by U.S. Robotics, and was sent Kima Akoo by mistake. No matter. Hooking the unit up was a breeze - It took about 10 minutes to get it up and running. Setting up a Wi-Fi music/media adapter will take an hour or more - I know from experience. The unit is secure. no one can hack into your system through the unit because it transmits the audio signal coming out of your computer's headphone jack. It's also cheap. I think I paid $50 for the unit, plus shipping. The Kima Akoo worked right out of the box, on the first try. I set up the broadcast and reciever units about 130 feet from each other, with numerous walls and appliences betwen them. The reciever unit (the box I hooked up to my stereo) didn't like sitting right next to my stereo reciever (it generated alot of hiss) but when moved 12 inches away the hiss disappeared. It's important to note I connected the Akoo reciever via RCA plugs to my stereo reciever - not via it's wireless radio connection. The sound quality was acceptable for outdoor listening, but with noticable background hiss during the quieter parts of songs. On rare occasion, a song will even break up. All in all though, for background music by the pool, the Kima Akoo worked well. I have only had the unit for a week or so, so I can't comment in it's durability. So, in conclusion, this buy was kind of a no-brainer. If you want to get internet radio to a stereo that is not close to a computer, and you have a WPA encrypted Wi-Fi network (and you don't want to hook your $1000 laptop up to your stereo every time you want music), this is the item for you. Just don't expect cd quality sound.Well, I'm back to edit this review after a few weeks, and I have to downgrade my recommendation to a "do not buy." I would have liked to change my star rating to 0 but for some reason I am unable to do it. The Kima Akoo I purchased works well for an hour or so, then the sound quality breaks up and becomes unlistenable. No amount of adjusting the unit will help. I finally gave up in it and purchased an Accurian Homeplug sender and reciever from Radio Shack, and voila! Problem solved. The Accurian unit is much more expensive, but works exactly as advertised - not like my cheaper but useless Kima Akoo.

Very good value for money

I have been using this system for 2 years, playing through a moderately high quality component stereo system, and I am generally very happy with the quality of sound reproduction. For the price (currently $55) it can't be beat! I did have some quality control problems when I first purchased the system. The original unit transmitted only one sound channel. It was promptly replaced by the manufacturer. After a month the receiver developed a little instability in maintaining the wireless link and was again replaced. Since then I have had no problems with the unit.

I am some where between a wine enthusiast and a wine snob. This is my second purchase of this product and I love it! Many BYOB restaurants do not have the correct glasses for good or vintage wine and this product solves that problem. The carrier can handle even my largest glass (Reidel 30 oz. Sommeliers Bordeaux). The carrier is light weight and is similar to a light-weight computer bag. I highly recommend this product.

Riedel carry case

This is fantastic! I had it shipped to Australia for $90 including postage and handling.(here they are $200 RRP) It got here in under 2 weeks!Fantastic to use, previously I would pack up my glasses in their original box to take them to restaurants, this is much easier, great for picnics too, if you feel like having a nice bottle with lunch!

Perfectly designed for serving as well as decanting

I've had mine for years and it outshines every other decanter I've ever owned or used - in performance as well as beauty at the table.Most decanters are fairly easy to fill but very hard to pour. Guests are often reluctant to tip a traditional, bell-bottomed decanter far enough to pour from it. Before the first trickle of wine comes out, it feels like they're holding it upside down and about to dump it all over the table. Traditional decanters also require some strength to lift high enough and twist far enough to begin pouring, especially when reaching across the table. I've often seen people start, put down the decanter and stand up to get a safer grip. This is awkward to say the least.The "duck" is MUCH better on every count. The long handle balances perfectly in the hand; pouring with minimum effort and still stable enough to pass down the dining table with confidence. The low, elongated body of the decanter doesn't have to be picked up nearly as far off the table or tipped nearly so dramatically to fill a glass. The size of the handle makes reaching, pouring and passing a simple matter.Notes for wine purists: Unlike the traditional shape, you'll never need a funnel to fill the "duck" without splashing. The surface area of wine in the duck is easily comparable to the best traditional decanters, giving big young wines enough oxygen to soften nicely at the table. The long neck has just enough "edge" at the bottom to trap sediments. The long spout allows you to spot any trace of sediment well before it reaches the glass, and the gentle slope lets you pull back softly without inducing turbulence that stirs sediment back into the remaining wine - helping salvage that final half-glass. Pour control is simply unmatched.The crystal is hand-blown and sparkles like fine stemware, and the shape looks much more elegant on the table than the photo on any web page can possibly convey.Spend the money. It's worth every cent.

Premiere wine decanting!

I must say, there is decanting wine and there is "DUCK" decanting! This "duck" decanter is far superior on every account.First, it has a perfectly balanced feel in the hand when filled with wine. It tips easy and effortlessly and is a smooth fill to the glass.Second, any wine novice or expert can tell you this decants and airates wine perfectly. It really does what its intention is. Your wines will become much more mellow and refined.Third, its beautiful to look at! Its almost ornemental in its design. Not many other decanters come close to its originality and sleekness. Beautiful crystal.

This is a beautiful piece of glassware that adds a touch of class to any table. However...and this is a significant however...a good decanter should be as broad as possible at the level at which a full bottle of wine will fill it. The idea is to have as large an air-to-wine interface as possible, so as to let as much wine as possible "breathe". This of course is not terribly important for whites and better reds, but younger red wines benefit considerably from being decanted for an hour before they are drunk. Therefore, I suggest this decanter be reserved for whites and reds that are "ready".

Flawed

I purchased the Riedel Magnum Decanter on Amazon.com, "Sold by Witbecks and Fulfilled by Amazon" and it just arrived. Upon opening the box it was impressive looking, which is what I wanted, but I was a bit surprised how little protective packaging there was so I looked at it closely for damage. No damage but I did find two visible imperfections that look like bubbles on the surface. They are substantial enough that they cause a scratching noise when you run your fingernail across them. Very disappointing. Not sure if I'm going to go through the hassle of returning it or just be disappointed every time I use it.

We use it all the time. It is crystal but feels super sturdy. Other crystal decanters always feel fragile and I always end up breaking them. We've had this since November and have not had any problems. Definitely a great purchase.

Perfect

'Perfect' decanter for young wines but the magnum is no use. Take the regular 'Ultra', for a bit less money and the same effectiveness (if not better).It does not need any accessory to pour the wine as the shape of the decanter takes care of everything. The wine flows perfectly automatically to the botton across all parts inside.You will see what I mean after the first time you use it :-)
