4double (triple?) whammy
By Kenneth B. Povodator
The 6200 is an old printer. Obvious question: Repair with relatively expensive item (imaging unit) or replace? Chose to repair. Mistake.Decided to save some money by buying elsewhere (see Above). Another mistake.Unit has 4 protective tapes (similar to those on toner units). One tore while being removed, leaving inaccesible stub inside unit. Seller's return policy is that it will NOT accept imaging units for return.Tried to reinstall old unit, until I could find out whether Xerox could do anything about tape that snagged or otherwise could not be removed properly. Error message when reinstalled old unit. Some online research indicates that a common problem with 6200 and 6250 printers (others?) is something called a V-rack; when the imaging unit is removed and reinstalled, that often needs adjustment. THAT requires partial disassembly of the printer, to access the V-rack.So before deciding to buy, thinking that replacement of the imaging unit is a simple task, ask yourself whether you are willing to risk the need for partial disassembly of the printer (or the need to pay for a service call by a technician).UPDATE:Xerox was great about sending replacement part, with express shipping, at no extra charge. Disassembly for adjusting V-rack was not too much of a project, but only because I found good directions on-line - easily could be a problem without good directions and sufficient care in making adjustment. Printer works like new. BUT, the possible if not probable need to adjust V-rack needs to be considered as part of replacement process.

5Phaser 6200DP The printer that could
By RRT
We have several of these printers still in daily use. When we bought them (10 years ago), they impressed us greatly. So when we needed more color printers we bought more Xerox Phasers (Model 8500). HOWEVER even though the name is similar the printing technology is completely differant. All of those Phaser 8500s have long gone to scrap, while the Phaser 6200DP units continue to work perfectly (some with very high page counts). I have replaced a number of imaging units (as well as all other consumables and never had to adjust the v-rack. Stick to XEROX original consumables and you could plan to grow old with this printer.
