5Great value - most bang for the buck - GREAT BUY!
By A Customer
If all you need is a great stereo receiver - and NO 5.1 or DOLBY surround - then this is the unit for you. Simple to install and operate. Very clean sound and plenty of power. One or two more inputs wounld't hurt, but overall you can't beat the deal on this receiver. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a basic stereo receiver that has plenty of clean power. Great buy.

NOTE: This review is in my own words based on my own experiences with this product - unlike Chi Tran, whose ENTIRE REVIEW TEXT of this item was copied "cut and paste" from the Crutchfield website. What a joke.....

5Great, long lasting Sony product
By Tim Swallow
I've owned this receiver since June 1999 - about 14 years. It has been nothing but perfect. Someone else mentioned more inputs, which would be nice, but it really is a solid piece. Sony is usually more expensive than the competition but for a reason. I've gone through about 3 sets of speakers on this system: Phillips bookends (junk, broke within 2 years), Sony SS-B300H (great speakers for the price, still work flawlessly) and now have a pair of M-Audio AV-40 Studio Monitors running through, which sound amazing. It runs both the M-Audio's and the Sony's through great without needing any extra power or preamp. I currently have this system running with a stereo cd-recorder, computer DAW, record player, and cassette player and have yet to run into any problems.I bought this new for $499. You can get a lot better for that nowadays, but with the used prices ($100-200) I would say this is absolutely worth it if you're in the market.

5Sony's best for stero and price
By Chi Tran
In the "good things you can count on" department, Sony once again offers a receiver lineup that satisfies the wide variety of home entertainment desires. And from the least expensive model up you get rock solid dependability, clear, dynamic sound, and the latest technology at super-affordable prices. For music fans (and for rooms where you don't need a home theater), the STR-DE135 stereo receiver delivers the audio "basics" and more. It treats your music right with 100 watts per channel for smooth, low-distortion sound. You get 4 audio inputs for your music sources (CD, MiniDisc, cassette, etc.) Select AM/FM stations using the 30 memory presets, or tune them in directly via the number buttons on the receiver's front panel. It also included remote keeps you in control. Overall, great price with great value.
