5Works great!

I bought this product a while ago and now I can't live without it!It has a few downsides though: - It is for American keyboards only (I'm from Denmark) which makes it a little harder to work with. - It will only record keystrokes, so there is no possibility to using scripts or the mouse for that sake.Even though it doesn't do many magic things, one can really get some work done faster with this keypad and a little creativity ;)

5Great tool for developers!

When coupled with good macro software, like AutoHotKey (free), I have been able to create macros for certain tasks that take several mouse gestures and key presses. It really is great when things that used to take 10-15 seconds of futzing around can be accomplished with a single key stroke. I've only had this for a week, but can already feel more productive. Another thing... if you think about a typical action that takes, say, ten mouseclicks or keystrokes... that's ten opportunities for you to get distracted and wander off and do something else. If you can automate that all down to one key, then you won't lose your train of thought.

5Lots of love from a long time user.

I recently bought one of these, and it's actually my 2nd one, so I can leave one at home and one at work. Yes, I feel that this device is that crucial to my productivity.I use one of these at my current job as a researcher to process text, flip through different websites, and to automate repetitive data tasks. It's actually quite simple to get started with the basics, and while the learning curve definitely gets steeper for the more advanced functions, you will be richly rewarded for your efforts. The fact that I can copy all of the text from one website, switch over to MS Word, paste it in, trigger a text cleanup macro, recopy, flip to another browser window, paste it in, and throw around all the bits of data where they belong (Tab and Copy-Paste), ALL AT THE PRESS OF A BUTTON, is absolutely phenomenal. I used this at a previous job as a teacher to help with grading multiple choice tests LIGHTNING fast (A, B, C, D, E, and Skip - brilliant). To begin basic programming, simply open the loading program, click on the button you want to program for, and begin entering in keystroke sequence you want that button to activate. Most keys on the keyboard will work just fine, and for special keys you can click on the virtual keyboard that appears on the screen. To do another button, simply click on another button in the diagram, and repeat the process. Once you are done, hit the download button, wait (this usually takes about 5 seconds), and your keypad is flash-programmed. You can also save this custom definition file, which you can reload later, or transfer to another machine. That said, the best part about this keyboard is that once the keypad is programmed, you can unplug it and move it from machine to machine, WITHOUT any special software needed. Every definition file allows for 2 "layers" of keys, which you can access by setting one of the keys as a layer toggle, or optionally as a "shift" type key (i.e. hold it down while pressing another to activate 2nd function). That said, with the custom definition files, you can have a near infinite number of scripts. The photos don't show it too well, but each key also has a thin, clear plastic cap that pops right off with a screwdriver. This allows you to create your own little paper labels, once you have a stabilized set of scripts. Personally, I don't bother, because I rewrite and reflash it so often, but it's nice to have that aesthetic option. This product is basically flawless. I love it to death and I can't imagine working without it.Note: The version I got differed slightly from the model pictured - it's a darker grey, and the cord comes out of the middle of the top edge, not the side as pictured. Also, mine was branded with Genovation, the manufacturer. Frankly, I preferred all of these changes. I don't know what version is pictured, but the one I received is the 5.21. My other one is a 5.0. Sick, I know. Also, I wanted to point out that this particular company did a spectacular job of shipping it to me in a timely fashion. YMMV, but I received mine within 24 hours of hitting "submit".In summary, I cannot recommend this product or this company enough.
