5THESE ARE BALL HOCKEY PADS ONLY!!!!!!
By James J. Moore
Please any person or parent do not buy these pads for any kind of hockey except ball hockey. I play Ice hockey and I have very good equipment and I still manage to get burises, imagine what these pads would do to you if you tried to bring them on the ice. Lets put things in perspective for all of you considering these pads. A official ice puck weighs 6 ounces, the average slapshot (for players 21 and up) is 68 MPH. That is some serious force, mylec pads would explode. Now roller hockey (which I play as well) sounds less agressive but the truth is there is not much difference between ice and roller except the ice. I use ice pads for roller cause anything else would hurt me, the the shots are still just as fast and the puck is only a little bit lighter. There are 2 different kinds of roller hockey, puck and ball. A roller hockey puck weighs 4.5 ounces and the average slapshot is even faster at 75 MPH, yea I still think the mylec pads would explode. These pads are made for ball hockey either indoors or outdoors. Consider this an expert opinion I have been a goalie for 17 years, I know a thing or two about pads. This might sound harsh but if you want to play ice hockey and are considering this pad, you should not be playing ice hockey, or puck roller for that matter. If you are a parent trying to find a cheap pad for your aspiring ice/roller goalie (non ball) there are better outlets then this. I just saw a pair of reebok revokes for like $300 on this site, if you cant afford at least $200 for junior goalie pads then maybe goaltending shouldnt be the sport of choice. Dont put your kids well being at risk so you can save a few bucks. I will list a few hockey websites so you can get real pads. [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] These site all have a clearence section and there are always great pads under $250 on them.
