4Good Solid 3/8" Drill
By Gaetano Albani
This is a great drill to have in your arsenal, especially when your cordless drill farts out on the job, and you don't want to pull out the big 1/2" hammer drill for light to medium duty drilling and driving tasks. I'd give it 5 stars, but the placement of the trigger lock is not well designed. I have inadvertantly engaged it a few times while in the middle of a drilling task and even while driving screws.

5I like drill motors.
By Eric E. Barkley
Being retired I have decided that having a battery operated drill motor is not that important anymore. Over the years I have had at least 5 different drills that have needed new batteries replacements. I was at a place to order another battery pack for my Panasonic EY6432, the 15.6V, 3.5aH ones. As the battery packs are almost more expensive than a new drill, I decided to purchase this Hitachi D10VG 9 Amp, with the 3/8" chuck, 0-1200rpm, to quit being tied to the need for a new battery pack. I have at least 400 feet of heavy duty (12 & 14AWG) extension cords so there is no place I can't use a 120vac drill motor. I chose this one because of the low speed and the heavy amperage which means I can use it for a screwdriver. I have the Hitachi D13VF, 0-850rpm ½ drill motor too, but is quite heavy, so that is why I got the 3/8 chuck, this lighter unit. My Milwaukee H-D Magnum drill motor is too fast, 0-2800 and there have also been times I have had to use channel-lock pliers to open the keyless chuck. No more keyless chucks. I have 7, 120vac drills, which includes my floor drill press and a Proxxon pro rotary tool, a DeWalt screw gun that is too fast for driving screws, and a Bosch rotor hammer drill. Being an electrician I guess I like drill motors? This Hitachi D10VG drill motor I use in my woodworking.
