Excellent lens, a true prime killer

The Tamron 20-40mm f/2.7-3.5 wide angle zoom lens is a super versatile, super sharp lens. It is widely regarded as a "prime killer," meaning it will easily replace the wide angle prime lenses you typically use, such as your 24mmm, 28mm, or 35mm lenses. Even wide open at f/2.7, the Tamron shoots sharp and true. I use it indoors and out will great success. Having it go all the way up to 40mm is nice, as you can get into portrait territory with that focal point, making this a very versatile lens indeed.Construction quality is high, with solid, heavy components, rubberized grip, solid lens hood, etc. This is a lens that should last for years to come.My only complaints with it are 1.)the autofocus is noisy and can hunt a bit, and 2.)lens flare can be a problem with this lens. Typically, I use the lens hood so flare isn't a problem, but be aware that you may experience more lens flare on this unit than on other modern lenses. As for the AF, it works, so no real complaints. The noise is a bit loud, and sometimes the lens hunts a little longer than I'd like for focus, but other than that, no complaints.Over all, this lens is a 4.5 to me. Look up reviews about it, and you'll see that it is a widely loved and used lens. A bit rare, so if you can find a copy, snag it. It's often compared to higher end L glass and other lenses that cost twice as much, and again, often replaces a slew of lenses because it shoots so well.
