Not Just Your Basic Neighborhood Viking

Todd McFarlane has created a new Spawn legend set in the grim times before Norsemen set out on their great Viking raids. Eric Bloodaxe, the clan leader, agrees to combat between his men and Jorvak Skullsplitter's band. Jorvak is an old enemy and love rival who does not intend to have a fair battle. He seeks revenge, and has made a deal with Loki gain it. Pretending to yield, Jorvak uses a foul blow to send Eric spinning down to hell. There, the freezing cold shatters Eric's skin. Undaunted, he begins his return to battle. Now hideous to look upon, a new Blade enters the struggle against evil.
This figure is Eric right after his return. Hard to look at, draped in armor rich in Celtic and Norse designs, he is an imposing 7.5" figure. Packaged with him is the massive two-headed battle-axe that has earned him his name. As usual, McFarlane's artistic staff has created a detailed, beautifully painted and unnerving figure. The price of all the details though is some increase fragility if the figure is intended to be used in hand-to-hand play. For this reason, I feel that McFarlane's own rating of this figure (for five year olds and up) is overly optimistic.
If anything, the figure is over-articulated (22 points). This can make it hard to pose if you want put Eric in a middle of a ferocious axe swing. McFarlane's figures are often top heavy and easy to overbalance. Of course, if your intention is to put this figure on a display stand (none provided) this shouldn't be a serious issue.
This figure works well with all the others from this series (even as a stand-in on Thunderhoof), opening up the possibility of some serious (and large) dioramas. For display, expect to do more pinning (or gluing) than usual. Some figures from this series are becoming hard to find. Track them down now rather than endure the spasm of envy when you find one on someone else's shelves.

The entire line of Spawn 22 action figures are based on a double joint shoulder system. Meaning the shoulder can rotate into any position you wish. The Blood axe is very durable compared to the tortured souls 2 series and features way more articulation. A total of 20 points, neck(ball joint), shoulders(double ball joint), wrists, elbow, chest, wraist, hips(ball joint), thigns, knees, ankles(right feet only)and foot. The axe itself can be disconnected into 3 different pieces in order to fit in the hand. The detail is excellent even for Spawn standards, in all this is a very detailed and poseable action figure. Not the best of Spawn 22 (The Skullspilter is by far the best) but well worth your money.

Very Awesome....

This is the best charachter from an incredibly good line. With amazing detail (the bloody skin coat was a great touch) , incredible weapons (HUGE battle axe), and it has the un-matched McFarlane style. This thing even has it's own story. Whether you are a serious toy collecter or just wan't something to play with, this is probably the way to go.
