Product Description
This 8" double-sided 325/220 coarse/extra coarse grit stone will sharpen, hone and lap, all types of woodworking tools including knives, chisels, plane blades, gouges, and carbide router bits. The stone measures 8" x 2-5/8". Use it dry or with water. It includes a non-skid mat to prevent slipping on work surface.

NOT FLAT

this stone was not flat. when i put it on a glass surface, one corner sticks up. that makes it useless for sharpening, which bad because this is a 'sharpening stone' and has no other function. it should at least be manufactured in such a way that it does what its made to do...UPDATE - I did get a replacement from Amazon and have been using the two sided stones (extra course/course + fine/extra fine) with excellent results. I see no reason to try any other brands or sharpening systems. I suggest you confirm that you get a 'flat' stone by putting it on a glass table to make sure it sits flush on all corners. Once you confirm that it is indeed a flat surface, then its a great tool.

DuoSharp means "WOW"

I bought this sharpening stone to obtain a "like new" edge on my worn edge chisels. I tried my wet stone electric grinder; however, I was not happy with the results. With my new DuoSharp, I obtained the edge on my 2" chisel within a short time (it was very dull!). I plan on buying the Duosharp fine and very fine sharening stone soon. Thanks DMT for such a fine product.

DMT products are all top-notch and this is one of their best. Extra-Coarse takes material off so fast you need to be careful not to overdo it. Great for major reshaping of blades or starting fresh on a badly knicked edge. Buy the base and the Extra-Fine/Fine stone as well and you can sharpen all kinds of stuff.
