5Overall Lens
By Alejandro J Sayegh R
This lens is great for outdoor and travel photography, when you don't have space to bring a lot of gear. The zoom works, sliding the outer barrel forward and back, and the autofocus works well in outdoors, at day, with enough light, and I can assure that works very well at Tv mode shooting dolphins in motion, the pictures were very sharp. It has a little problem with low light situations, but it possibly be a camera concern (Rebel 2000) and not a lens trouble. So it's a very good option for a cheap lens. If you are an amateur you will not notice any difference between a picture taken with this lens and another taken with lenses over the $300 Range.

5Vivitar Series1 28-300mm zoom
By Blue Review
I had previously purchased this same make and model lens, and was very happy with it, so when I broke the old one (and I kinda had to work at it, too) I searched high and low to find a replacement. I had had the old lens "in the shop" once already to have the focus adjusted, but the considering how versatile a 28-300mm lens is, I felt it was worth it. I've been happy with the new lens for the short while I've had it, but I should point out that I use it primarily with a Canon EOS D60 camera, and it is fully functional with that camera. The problem is when I put this new lens on my Canon XSi, the autofocus wouldn't. Nothing. Nada. Not even motor noise, to indicate it's trying. It still focuses manually just fine, the pictures I took with that camera are as sharp as can be, but the lens doesn't seem to be compatible with that camera, so anyone trying to use this lens with an XSi may be contacting the manufacturer.
