4Solid, useful - You know you want it (but do you need it?)
By Philip F. Kromer
This tool is well-built and solid, and I have had no maintenance problems with it. (Make sure to use an in-line oiler and always shoot some air tool oil through it each time you put it away).

The drawback of the tool, however, is that it is so solid -- it is unavoidably heavier and larger than a conventional ratchet, and the airline hanging off then end can be ungainly. I have found that it is only useful in cases where I have free access to a large number of bolts which need to be removed or assembled (for engine work, it is indispensable). For bolts with limited clearance, however, you will find that a hand ratchet is *cough* handier (and in cases where you need a U-joint and extensions, fuggedaboudit).

I'm a shadetree mechanic -- not a professional -- but I use the air ratchet several times a weekend. I bought this tool to help with the frame-off rebuild of my car, a task which requires no end of threaded fasteners. Even still, I wouldn't say that an air ratchet was essential. There are tasks which have undeniably been speeded up -- running all the head bolts down before torquing, for use with a deep socket on bolts with a large exposed thread, etc. However, for most day-to-day tasks, I tend to use my trusty craftsman ratchet.

It's a great labor saver -- and a fun, useful tool that will make all your friends green with envy. As long as you realize it's not going to put the car together for you, there will be plenty of times where you'll be glad you got it.

4Title for my review
By Don R. Spears
I am a tech for Ford, I have used this air ratchet every weekday for the last couple months I have owned it. So far no problems or defects found, I look forward to owning and using this air ratchet for many years to come.

4IR 3/8 Heavy Duty Air Rachet Wrench - review
By G. Alvarez Jr.
Excellent tool for my purpose as home backyard mechanic. It is light in weight and the handle provides a good grip. The only comment I have is it does not provide (even on IR website) a more detailed instruction manual on its operation. Otherwise, it is an excellent tool!!
