Best of two worlds

I needed accurate, smooth and reasonably powerful belt sander. Since I own multiple power tools from Makita, and they are simply great (only Bosch tools are equally good); I bought this sander without using trial-and-error approach. I have paid about $150 year ago (it seems all prices for Makita tools on Amazon have substantially gone up).There are sanders that mainly design to remove large quantity of material. This one removes material reasonably well. However, in addition, it has capability for accurate sanding that can be used for woodworking. So, basically this sander can be used by contractors and woodworkers.Tracking of the belt is also easy and consistent.So, as usual, Makita and Bosch rule!

Damn Fine Router!!

I have had this router (9902) for a few months now and it has seen pretty heavy use. I'm just a hobbyist, not a contractor, but it is everything I need and more. It is very well built and so far has not had a single, even minor, glitch! The belt tracking adjustment works fabulously! It's quite heavy, bulky and awkward so probably not recommended for those delicate jobs. Then again that's not what it is for! It is meant for quick removal of serious wood and that it does. So much so > watch out! Don't let it stand still even for 1 second, it will dig itself a hole before you can blink. That also brings up a trick I learned. Use the finest paper your can find (120??) and go nuts! You will have good control and a perfectly smooth surface ready for finishing in no time at all!

Back to the router> I would highly recommend it and if it was stolen I would buy another one without question! High praise indeed! Why did I give it only 4 stars?? Probably cost, [at this price] it's not cheap but does represent very good value! Go buy, one I'm sure you will be happy!

Wonderful sander

Nice and light, and the 4" width is great for leveling 4" wide lumber. Dust collection is better than average. I love the belt tracking adjustment and the variable speed. Slow speed is almost like hand blocking, high speed really takes off lots of material. I've had it about a year now. The other 4 X 24 belt sander that I have used is the Porter Cable 362, but it weighs 20 pounds and it's like sanding with a Buick. Don't even think about using the Porter Cable on a vertical surface. The makita weighs about 8 pounds I think. Only improvement would be to include a case, but none of the belt sanders that I looked at had a case. The 9404 is hard to find in stores, I had to order it from Tool Crib. You won't be dissapointed. If you want a really light and mobile sander, the 5 pound Makita 9911 can't be beat, but it uses 3X18 belts and I like the 4" width. Makita belt sanders seem quieter than most.

Makita 4x24 VS belt sander

This unit is relatively quiet, and thanks to makita's efficient and powerful motors acts stronger than its amperage rating. Belts change quickly and easily, and variable speed control lets you select the best speed for the job. Another great feature is the 16' cord, allowing for maneuverability not found in most corded powertools. The dust bag is also removable. Works great. If you don't buy this, a Bosch should be your next choice.

Excellent Sander

Purchased this sander from Toolbarn after suffering with my old Dewalt DW433. The saw was delivered in a three days in excellent condition. This sander sounds ten times quieter than the Dewalt it replaced. Smoooth and powerfull. Excellent dust collection. Best belt sander I've every used - including several Porter Cables, which are much hearview and noisier.

HITACHI H55SCK DEMOLITION HAMMER

I am not into breaking concrete slabs and bought one of these hammers for easier digging fence post holes in rocky southern Missouri soil and it works fantastic. I have a small 2500w generator so I can operate it any place on my 30 acres. I fabricated my own extra long hammer bit by using a chop saw and welding an extension into my hammer bit shafts. I have never owned/used any other demo hammer so am in no position to compare it to any other make or model. With my fabricated bits I can dig a 24" deep post hole and the tip of the tool is still well above ground level. This unit will dig a hole where my rear-mounted PTO tractor auger wont go once it hits fair sized limestone.
