This expansion to the Lord of the Rings board game adds two new scenario boards (Bree and Isengard), 13 new feature cards and 3 new Gandalf cards. It also adds two completely new features to the game: Foe cards which add a major new aspect to the game; and Character Ability cards which give each character a unique one-shot ability.

Expansion set adds new twists and challenges

"The Lord of the Rings: Expansion Board Game (Friends and Foes)" is an excellent supplement to an already enjoyable game. This game is not playable by itself, but requires the main "Lord of the Rings Board Game."

New rules, new boards and new cards are introduced increasing the challenge rating of the game, as well as increasing the overall feel of the game. Familiar and favorite characters like Tom Bombadil, Treebeard and Glorfindle find their way into the game.

Two new boards are introduced: Bree and Isengard, including all of the characters you would expect with these new scenarios. Each board has a sticker to add to the main timeline board, so that you know when to encounter them. Also introduced are 30 "Foe" cards. They add a new way to win or loose the game without completing Mordor.

If you enjoy "The Lord of the Rings Board Game," I am confident that you will also enjoy this Expansion Set.

A spectacular addition to a great game.

The Friends and foes expansion set adds three vital components to the LOTR game system.

1. It adds the Bree game board and events including Tom Bombadil (whose absense from the movie is painful)

2. It adds Isengard game board and events

3. It adds the many foes from the book really giving the game a new outlook.

Now in addition to all of the various problems you may already face now the wolf riders, the uruk-hai, and the cave-trolls add to your grief and the various foes appear to battle you. You must keep these foes in check as they sap your strength and allow Sauron time to grow ever closer. Defeat enough of them you might be able to avoid some of the great dangers that lie ahead altogeter, allow enough of them to plague you and you will be overwhelmed and defeated.

This is money well spent. If you own the game buy it!

Lord Sauron shows NO Mercy

Without the expansion, it is difficult enough for the four hobbits to make it to Mordor, but with this expansion comes an army of enemies to band against the players.

This game shows team players how to rely and work together, as they depend on the survival of the ring bearer to make it as far as possible.

One of the few games that allows for selfless acts and creates one goal for the players....the enemy is Sauron, NOT the other players.

Excellent game!!

pampering your garden worn skin

i can't say enough good things about this set of crabtree and evelynn products!this combination of hand soap and lotion is just what i need after a long day of gardening. it sooths the skin,smells wonderful,and gives lasting relief to my nicked up garden hands. the shea butter is the key(I think). it gives the lotion a long lasting silky feeling.if you look through the product guide you'll also see that this set is a great value. sold separately these products cost almost double and you don't get as much lotion as you would when purchasing this set. as an extra value you get a niffty caddy to keep your "treasures" right near your sink so it is always handy,so to speak.i have given sets of this product to my friends and family and they are all addicted to crabtree and evelynn now,so now when i order.i order in bulk!i haven't found a crabtree and evelynn product i don't like! i am a total devota' and know i can always count on amazon to supply my addiction for crabtree and evelynn products.keep up the good work amazon!

minor piece glitch.

As i previous owner of a chess table by Drueke iwas not suprised to find the set and board an example of fine quality .The only negatives are: the set is slightly larger than need be for the size of the squares on the board. This is easily forgiven onceyou've played over a few games. The second is that the bottom of two pieces is not flat. This causes a slight tilt in thses pieces-1 rook 1 knight. It appears the weights were not inserted properly or the hole for the weights was too shallow. All in all a fine product at a reasonable price.

Excellent chess combo

I really like this chess board and chessmen combination because it's made with quality materials and craftsmanship at an affordable price. The chessmen are really nice and not too big nor too small. It's not perfect, though, and I almost returned it because the board is slightly curved or bent probably due to the way it's built (the thick wood squares are glued together which looks really good on both sides) but also probably due to low winter humidity as well. So, instead of returning it, I applied some generous coatings of mineral butcher wood board oil and that seemed to help. It's still slight curved but it's not a big deal and quite unnoticeable. It ends up working well because there's a gap you can use to lift the board (it's heavy which is good) and it cannot really be seen unless you look for it - it does not interfere with playing at all. All in all it's a beautiful and very unique board. The light and dark colors are really nice together and it's extremely smooth on both sides. Real thick quality wood is used instead of thin venier laid on top of cheap wood like on regular run-of-the-mill boards. The only other small problem is that the chessmen only comes with 2 queens. However, like I mentioned, the chessmen are very nicely made with quality wood: boxwood (light) and rosewood (dark.) It's also good to point out that the chessmen are not very well packed so they do come with small dents but they're unnoticeable when you're playing so it's not a big deal either. Giving the price for this combo, I can live with these small imperfections. Even because after some use, you are bound to have dents and scratches anyway. Again, think about the price vs. quality. These minor imperfections are really not a big deal when you consider the quality and price, hence 4 stars out of 5. Last but not least, it's made in America, which is very refreshing to notice since that means a few more people can find work that was not sent overseas.

Perfection

The board is beautiful and the pieces are nice (though only one queen of each color). The pieces come in nice pouches to keep them protected. For the board the pieces should be a little bigger (my 4" pieces are a much better fit than the 3 3/4 ones) but they don't look bad. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase.
